1st experience, my mini dachs had to have 28 teeth out .the op went well and she is great, but paying nearly £1000 was a shock. 2nd experience my 9yr old mini dach was vomiting in the morning, didn’t get better so took him to vets at home vet at 14.30 vet gave him a couple of injections anti sickness, antibiotics, then sent him home saying he should improve, but if he got worse ring their emergency number. He got worse rang number and took him into Hemel Hempstead as instructed. He died in the night , then was given a bill for nearly £2000 . Absolute rip off. I know it can’t be verified but when I enquired at my other vets how much would they have charged for removing 28 teeth they said between £350- £500 . And as for the one who died they said the vet should have done tests to check for cause of sickness and keep him in the overnight facility instead of sending him home , because the Aylesbury vets was closing at 4 they just wanted him out so they could go home. Only changed vets as we had moved a few miles away and pets at home was nearest. What a mistake.

Petsathome Bishopbriggs. Well, be there 10 days ago due the kitten was sneezing, dropping eyes and coughing, been told the cat was good and the vet against the medication, cool, been charged 37 £ for consultation.. Today, been there again for the vaccination but the vet suggested the cat needs antibiotics, so no vaccination and been told i would be changed only for antibiotics. Well, the secretary charged me for antibiotics and consultantion(and this time was 38£+ medications). When i was asking to see the vet for clarifying why she said something different before, she just send the secretary again to repeat the everytime you have to pay the consultantion...but it wasn't planned today. Won't go there anymore and will do the treatment somewhere else. I feel ripped off frankly.

Dog flea & tick treatment with wormer subscription. Front line Plus and Drontal - flea treatment was beyond useless. Tried for6 months and dog has more fleas and problems than before started. Even after applying treatment, within week he needed flea shampoo treatments. As for tasty wormer - needed to crush and hide as he would not take it. Waste of money. Just had to fork out for a load of treatments to treat my dog for fleas, and skin irritation due to flea bites and itching.

Delivery of wet pet food was badly packed and arrived damaged , presumably due to rough handling in transit. Other suppliers do it much better.

Took my Staffie to be vaccinated even though he was double muzzled the vet refused to vaccinate him as she said he was too much of a handful. All what was wrong with my dog was he was very scared, not vicious.Vets are meant to be highly trained and surely able to handle a scared double muzzled Staffie.Very bad response from a professional Veterinarian whose profession is to treat frightened animals big or small. This happened at the Milton Keynes branch on16/08/21.I am now looking for a proper Vets and have cancelled my pet program I had with Pets at Home.

wet pet food was damaged during the delivery of cat litter. Sent photos to customer service live chat they "couldn't see" the damage. A 20kg bag of cat litter was demolished by dpd in the box which was all taped up and photos showed open food and dirty box but not interested and rude. I love my local store Pets at Home and have been a customer for over 10years but online service awful.

Took my dog for a groom, his 2nd groom ever. I can not express how disgusted I was with the service & cut. They did no cut on his tail, legs or under his chin. They also left a bold patch the size of 5p in between his eyes, and also cutting him. When we collected him, we could hear him distraut in the back. With both staff sat at front of house talking shop. Why was nobody checking he was OK, giving him a stroke... Cutting his hair correctly! I asked why nobody was out back with his as he was incredibly upset... One girl said "I'm new", the other just looked at me. I am going to post this in as many places as I can.... Please please please if you are reading this, do not take your dog to pets at home Derby for a cut! (Kingsway). You should hire staff what give a s**t about animals!

Awful place. They injured a rabbit while in their care, didn’t treat it correctly despite having on site vets (it also hadn’t been neutered or vaccinated) and then when called out on it and a home offered they hid it out the back. Pets at harm more like.

Only giving one star as it won't let me review with less! Swindon store have an injured rabbit in their adoption "tank". Shop assistant says he fell from a height and broke his leg in the store but they haven't had it treated and it has now fused wrong. They will not allow it to be taken to a sanctuary to be treated and rehomed (whether a payment was made for it or not). Rabbit removed to "round the back" so heaven help him. Goodness only knows what has happened to him. The big freezer??

Been in twice to the Aberdeen beach store and both times I’ve found the staff very unhelpful and one in particular was rude. I will not be giving this place anymore trade after spending hundreds of pounds. We have other small independent dog shops where the staff are friendly and polite.

My friend gave up 2 rats for adoption, both with skin conditions and disclosed all their issues. One being the food they didn't eat and one being the bedding their allergic to. Myself and my boyfriend decided to adopt them upon realising one of the rats still had their skin condition but at the time of adoption we were told she was healed. They had also been placed on food that they didn't like and one of them had lost a lot of weight. They were also on bedding they were allergic to. At the time of adoption, we were told lies about the previous owner (our own friend.) Absolutely disgusted with how poorly the rats were taken care of and how they spoke about our friend.

Been asking for a Prescription for our dogs meds for 3 weeks now so we can get them elsewhere. Our dog suffers with bad epileptic fits and takes keptra. Everytime we ring up they say we'll get it sorted pick it up in a few days.everytime we go down there the Prescription isn't done and they no nothing about it. This has gone on 3wks going backwards and forwards not getting anywhere , gotta see the nurse but the nurse isn't in at the moment, that's all you get. Last night he had a bad fit ,he had the last of his tablets which we wanted to avoid. Phoned them this morning and got we'll the nurse isn't in and we have been trying to call you, we'll I'm sorry I'm not having that he needs tablets today , stop fobbing us off. I want his tablets and Prescription otherwise there will be an official complaint. Absolutely disgusting!! 😡😡

After having to negotiate a way round their website to complain about why they still sell animals. They have no complaints form?! They claim they sell responsibly, selling animals through pet shops and online is not responsible. The rescue centers are even more inundated with animals bought from Pet shops and online since lockdown when thousands of people either got bored or couldn`t be bothered to care for their pet anymore. I have recently seen on the website of a charity I support, a small guinea pig bought from pets at home and dumped at the charity a week later because their child who is way too young to understand or have the responsibility quickly lost interest. I complained to them last year through lockdown when rescue centers were busier than ever. Their response was basically along the lines of how wonderful it is to see the look on a child`s face when they get their first pet. Not so wonderful to see the look on the animals faces in rescue centers. Don`t get me wrong, there are many many responsible pet owners. but there are equally as many irresponsible pet owners. a couple of questions in store cannot determine that an animal is going to a loving home. I received a reply to my complaint but put it in the trash without reading as I did not want another reply knowing that they would simply find flimsy excuses to their continual exploitation of animals. If PAH really cared about animals they would not profit from them.

(1) Told to stand and wait for over 1 hour whilst badly injured cat was taken away for injuries to be assessed. (2) Told cat needed general anaesthetic, and urgent treatment for injuries, and would cost £500+. I agreed to pay. (3) Then told to take it home and bring back following day for that treatment, because they were about to close (3.30pm!) and there would be insufficient time for cat to recover from treatment. (4) Told that if cat became worse overnight, to phone any emergency vet (not them) with an overnight facility. The general impression I got was that the only important thing was my agreement to pay £500+ the bill was £649.95! The cat has survived so far, despite being nursed overnight with gaping wounds before treatment, but I will never use them again

We purchased dwarf cross rabbits for our children from Pets at Home, being told that they would grow to dwarf rabbit size, and bought the recommended hutch size from them. However, they both grew so large that neither of my children were able to handle either of them and the hitch sold was totally unsuitable. I used to breed dwarf rabbits and would say these were twice the size of an average dwarf. I wrote to Pets at Home on more than one occasion, and they were not in the least bit interested. I think once they've made their money, there is very little care there. If I could give no stars, I would!
