Halfords had my car for 10 days without starting the job - replacement of a burst coolant flange. Every enquiry was answered that they were about to start but after 10 days I had the car towed to another garage, costing £89 for the tow. Long term customer, but won’t use them again. I took my vehicle to Durham , Arnison Auto centre today to have an aircon diagnostic check carried out today and I have to say I have never been as disappointed in the service I received today and to give them 1 star is more than they deserve. The Manager Andy has very poor customer service skills and was not prepared to take on board anything I had to say. The first issue I have is they did not diagnose the fault and could only advise I go to another garage for further diagnostics. The second issue which is more concerning is that my system was full of gas as only just re-gassed at a cost 0f £120 and when my vehicle has been returned to me they have removed leaving no gas in the system at all. Not sure if this is the standard practice from Halfords auto centres but I would definately advise everyone to stay clear of the Durham centre.

MOT and service at their Watford centre - a depressing experience Incorrect arrival time given, rude staff, took three times as long as promised, weblink not working, wrong contact used, sloppy paperwork. I sent this proposed review to Halfords one week ago so that they could respond in advance. There was no reply, so clearly they don't care. Read on for the detail. Detail: Email and text messages requested me to arrive at their Watford centre at 08:20, saying "expect to leave it with us for 1-2 hours” and “when your vehicle is ready for collection, we’ll give you a call”. Me to the assistant at 8:20: “Good morning”. Grumpy assistant “We don’t open until 8:30”. Me “Well, your message told me to arrive at 8:20”. Assistant: “We don’t open until 8:30 buddy” and walks off. They didn’t call me but emailed me at 14:59. Fortunately I happened to be near my PC and regularly check my emails otherwise I would never have known my vehicle was ready. In the meantime the weblink they'd sent me to track the progress of my vehicle didn't work. When I collected the vehicle I was given the wrong MOT certificate and the wrong mileage was written into the wrong page in my service logbook.

Appalling!. Went in over five weeks ago to get ignition replaced was told I’d wait 10 days for Vauxhall to send them the ignition then it would be done and here I am five weeks later with no updates and no interest in doing the job!!!. Ive repeatedly called and you are put on hold or told you’ll be called back….. no one does!!!. Avoid avoid avoid Guildford at all costs!

Andover Auto centre branch booked the car in 2 weeks in advance on arriving at 08.30 handed the key to the manager she did not say a word to me when I said I will wait for the car. The cabin filters were done in 5 minutes I watched him do it, the car then went in the air after 2 hours I asked why nothing was happening they did not have the correct part in the building and it would be delivered soon. That was a lie 6 hours in a boiling hot waiting room the mechanic came out and asked me what I wanted to do. He put the old part back on in around 10 minutes and the manager came in and we agreed she would call me when the part came in next day. That did not happen I phoned and was told to be there in 30 minutes. It took the mechanic 20 minutes to remove the old part and fit the new part. I had been told an hour's labour so ripped off big time Next the nightmare that is Halfords customer service they lie to I have proof I saved the web chats it takes 48 hours or more for first contact days later no phone call after chasing them today 19th July 2022 I had a email they won't call you email or web chat as it means they don't have to talk to let down customers. Even though I asked to be called they still ignored my request. To add insult they offered me a free MOT and £10 gift card it's laughable they told me they don't cover loss of earnings so my time is worth noting yet their hourly rate is more than the time taken to work on the car. AVOID alt all costs Halfords are liars and overcharge customers

1 star is generous. Had my car booked in for an MOT at 11:00 on a Saturday morning got there 10 minutes before the appointment time like they asked, dropped my key off and was told they would phone me between 12:00 and 13:00 so I went to town done what I had to do and went back for around 12:45 thinking my car wouldn't be long to find it hadn't even moved from whee I left it, so I patiently sat on the wall across the road and the reception man shouted across that my car will be about another hour and a half so I patiently sat waiting, eventually got my car back just before 16:00 as I needed it back, to be told its failed on 4 things, took my car straight to my friend who is an engineer and he completely disagrees with the failure, needless to say my car is booked in elsewhere recommended by my friend the day before my MOT is due, all halfords are interested in are money, as soon as I went to collect my key the guy gave me my certificate telling me its failed want us to fix it? No way! Will never ever be back there, also the 3 and a bit hours I was left sitting outside I watched their mechanics taking customers cars out for road tests absaloutey hounding them along the road and screeching tyres, Aberdeen St.Clair Street Branch

I booked my car in for front wheel alignment. The booking was online so I paid in advance. The booking was subsequently cancelled - I received an email less than 1hr before the car was booked in, but as it was first thing on a Saturday morning I didn't check my emails before setting out . The staff at the Autocentre were polite and suggested alternative garages but I was told it would take up 5 days before my money was returned. The email that was sent gave no reason for the cancellation and offered no apology. If Halfords are going to cancel bookings at short notice, at least have the courtesy to telephone customers affected and make sure the message is received.

I heard Halfords were bad but didn't expect this! Went to get my MOT done and told I was needing over £700 of work done to my car or it wont pass the MOT. I asked for a breakdown of the costs and laughed at what they were charging me. Baring in mind I only went in for an MOT, they tried charging me £80 for wheel alignment which is not required for an MOT, £45 for new windscreen wipers when I had recently replaced them myself a month prior which cost me no more than £15. The biggest cost was new wish bones on the car since he told me the suspension was bad and tried to tell me you probably have noticed this. This was £500, after looking online for parts myself a good set of wishbones for my car would cost no more than £150. Took my car away from Halfrauds and to a local garage just for an MOT and it passed with only 1 advisory which Halfords didn't even pick up on in their pre check test. Mentioned my previous experience to the other garage and they told me that the suspension was fine and the wishbones were hardly worn. Don't use Halfords! This was in Partick Glasgow

Being countrywide and a household name,I liked to think I could rely on Halfords to adjust my handbrake cable,so they charged me for new brakes and took two days to adjust my handbrake but not propery. After collecting the car I find the rear brake lights not working and I find the fuse had been removed.Halfords customer services failed to realise the seriousness of what could have happened and tried to suggest it didn't happen, refused to take the matter any further and said the staff who worked on my car no longer worked for them-convenient. I therefore would not recommend using the Tooting autocentre.

I Only took my car for an MOT and ended up with broken car key which will cost me £300 – DO NOT USE HALFORDS AUTOCENTRE WALSALL I took my car for an MOT to Halfords Walsall and they ended up breaking my car key! They said it was already broken but that is impossible as how did I drive the car there in the first place? They just left the key blade broken in the ignition and I have to pry it out myself. They even suggested to use the broken key as it is. Do they not know about safety?! Had to call a relative to drop off a spare key so I could actually drive home. All they were bothered about was chasing me for payment of the MOT and the not the car key they had clearly broken. When I asked them what had happened to the key they said it was already broken and the MOT tester (I believe his name is O. Nawaz) and the other three of them who work them surrounded me telling me it was already broken, trying to attempt to intimidate me and are making out I am I liar! Basically saying it is my word against their word!  Now I am having to pay over £300 to get a new car key made! Absolutely disgusted and poor and shocking customer service – the staff there don’t even seem to care and even want to help resolve the issue. All they cared about was getting the money for the MOT and getting me off their premises as soon as they could as they needed the parking space for someone else. I will never use another Halfords store again…

Just awful. I booked a service and MOT online for my son in Gloucester, a student in the area, on the basis that he'd get fair and honest service from a well-known company. First of all, he was turned away at the time of his appointment, having to return over an hour later. The car failed its MOT, requiring new tyres, three light bulbs, and apparently a new motor for the windscreen wipers. There was also a long list of items to "keep an eye on". All of this came to over 800 pounds, which shocked and worried my son. I rang the centre to go through list, but unfortunately whoever I spoke to really wasn't interested. I asked why three lightbulbs - two indicators, one for a number plate - cost 96 pounds, for example, and never got an adequate reply. I also asked that the work required to get the vehicle through its MOT would be done there and then, i.e. mainly the tyres, but (having apparently checked) they didn't have them in stock. I also then requested that the service go ahead, which was already paid for, to which he agreed. I also asked for the manager's details so I could discuss this further. When my son rang later to find out when he could collect the car, after the service, he was told it would not be done - the opposite of what I'd been told. I then rang customer service for a refund for the service, and to raise several issues about the whole experience - the attitude of the staff member, and the service he'd stated would be done, then refused. It also transpired that the centre does not stock tyres, despite what he said, so I have no idea why he did that! I later asked my son to check the windscreen wipers. They work perfectly, but the bottle was empty. I'm therefore unclear why - as an item stated as an MOT failure - they specified on the invoice that a new motor was required, at a cost of 58 pounds. Apart from ringing the centre to get an explanation, I've contacted customer services three times to get a manager to explain all the issues which I prescriptively outlined to them, ranging from the attitude of the staff, the lack of service to the vehicle, the windscreen motor which absolutely wasn't required and, two weeks later, the lack of contact from a manager and an explanation. The vehicle subsequently passed its MOT elsewhere, with new tyres, etc, and the three fitted light bulbs which cost me 20 pounds, not 96. Apart from the poor service, it seems that there's an attempt to add extra items so that the uninitiated feel it's necessary to get it done. I've held off for two weeks to allow Halfords to respond to my concerns, but as I've had zero communication from them, I've posted this.

DO NOT USE THIS GARAGE… Staff are terrible and customer service no better. They have no respect or care for your car, there’s no communication what’s so ever. Say one thing and do the opposite. I’ve tried to be reasonable but now it’s time to let people know how bad Halfords auto centre Andover is. They disrespect customers, they climb through your windows, they reverse cars close up-to each other, if not hitting them, rev your engine for no reason and the list goes on. One member of staff said “I don’t care it’s not my f…ing car”. There work shop is a mess with bins tipped over. My insurance company is about to write my car off due to the damage Halfords Auto Centre Andover have caused. I have video recordings taken while my car was in Halfords Auto Centre Andover covering over 4 weeks which I am about to start releasing on social media, please think twice before using them there’s better garages out their who do care about there customers.

Put my van in to get the front wheel alignment done. They said it had been done so i paid for it. On the road back home nothing seemed to have changed. the steering wheel was still off center by the same amount. I checked the track rod ends to see if they had been adjusted. They had not , they were all coroded with no signs of adjustment. Dont waste your cash with Halfords

Terrible service. All money making. Had a new clutch and fly wheel changed under warranty. Hence why I used Halfords at Hillsborough. 7 months on the third component has broke and leaked brake fluid. Not there fault as they didn’t change that part. If liquid has leaked it will mean having to have another clutch and fly wheel. I have never heard anything like it. Funny how my warranty ran out a week ago. Do not use money makers and poor customer service skills. Use local trusted mechanics.

I've used Byfleet Halford & a saw a turn in management style , money making & lack of manners & value for money .. But Woking Halfords was an all new level . A Manager and outfit clearly only motivated by KPI's , Monthly targets & managers bonus making as much money as possible out of the customer , minimal effort to actually look at the car , clearly adding on every possible , I had a decision on my brakes , didnt even take the wheel off ! Damion the manager even laughed in my face , small minded & arrogant . Avoid like Covid !! Save yourself a small fortune & having your intelligence insulted .

Rubbish, booked for a at home oil change and happily took my money Immediately. Gave me an 8-8 appointment which was fine. Received an email on the morning advising mechanic will be with me between 8-12, still hadn’t arrived by 3 Spent 20 mins on the phone only to be told they’d need to re arrange and, theres an additional charge for oil too. Worth noting they would charge 40GBP if you’re not in and miss the appointment but offer nothing in compensation if they fail to show
