Worst scammers on the name of referencing, agent will show you house, then will direct you to HomeLet, they will take deposit by telling you that in case of failing reference, your deposit will not be refunded. After completing everything by taking more then a week (salary slips, bank details, statements, employer official email addresses), suddenly you will receive reply from agent that sorry you failed in reference. When you tries to contact they will refuse to tell you why & how you failed. Sorry, we are not allowed to tell the reason. Really?? You are taking 460 pounds deposit from a genuine permanent employer of a company, genuine pay slips + statements showing salary more then required by landlord every month, a credit score of 594, even after a very positive response from official emails of my employer, they failed for reason I have no right to know. Highly Not Recommended to deal with any property if HomeLet is dealing it. For sure they are only low life scammers.

I don't often give one star reviews but this one is well deserved. They've been messing me around for weeks; the moment they emailed me for my information I completed the application and the website showed everything is complete and with the agency. Heard nothing for a week so decided to ring them and they said they're waiting for payslips and bank statements. Nothing on the website said about waiting on this and no one contacted me; apparently you have to scroll down and find an additional information section and attach them loosely there? I did this and no reply for days, ring them back; they are missing my February payslip! Re-upload it, call them back, it's still not there! So I re-upload it and wait for the weekend. Call again; they tell me all is well and I just need to wait for the application to be processed. Then a few hours later they email me that they still don't have my February payslip! I'm fuming. Never will use this service again.

One week before our scheduled move-in date, we were informed by our estate agent that HomeLet had failed my housemate's reference. Upon contact with HomeLet as to the reason for this, the only information they would divulge was that it was for a "residential" reason, and they would only divulge this to the estate agent, not to us. We have rented many times before this where other referencing companies were used and this has never happened. Because of the failed reference, our offer fell through and we were left without a place to live. Moreover, we will be unable to rent any property in the future that uses HomeLet as a referencing company. Only after this had occurred and we threatened them with the financial ombudsman did HomeLet show any willingness of informing us why they had failed the reference. With this knowledge, we presented them with many solutions, but HomeLet were unwilling to budge, even though the issue they flagged was not an issue for the landlord that it apparently affected. Truly awful service. Avoid at all costs.

The worst and most incompetent company you have to deal with without choice. Hope to rate with -10. 1. Insurance ads completely mixed with reference application 2. Sold private data 3. Has no ability at all to deal with people’s reference materials but delay 4. Confusing Request materials from both texts and email but never checked only rejected 5. 7 days wasted 6. What a good company survived in this country 7. I will be ashamed to talk about anything more relating homelet, sorry it makes me sick!

Refrencing was a complete joke and a nightmare to even get into the property. Once we had moved in for a few months HomeLet began to try to charge us for differences services which we had clearly declined over the phone. Taking money out of tenants accounts without any permission at all. Useless services with rude customer service on top. If possible I would give 0 stars.

I don't understand how this company has got such a high rating. Unprofessional and utterly useless processes to go through in getting references passed for moving into a property. There are lots of website bugs, as well. I had to call their support team multiple times to ask about the references; some staff were helpful and polite, some were not. Not to mention my agent for my old flat had issues receiving their emails and submitting his reference. This process should've taken me 48 hours but instead took me almost a week!

Hi… Had a great conversation with Rachel Harvey. She convinced me to try the insurance package. Thanks.

The agency I’m renting with used homelet for referencing, I passed referencing. They called me asking if I wanted insurance which I said no thanks and the guy stopped talking for a good two seconds then hung up the phone!! What kind of customer service is this.

Excellent service. Had a phone call from a chap called Ady Lowe. I'm not a fan of phone calls. But this guy made me feel at ease and now I even have insurance for my house! Very good customer service. 🥰

Lost 3 weeks of my life and 220£ on holding deposit due to rejection of guarantor which was been accepted in 2 different accommodations before. The process of referencing is totally unorganised and ridiculous. It’s time consuming and requires guarantor to do so many steps. They made my guarantor feel that they hiring her in FBI and checking everything they possibly can. After she decided to tell them how this process is ridiculous they just decided to reject application. If your agent slow this company going to make process even slower and you are not guaranteed to anything. In addition to that some of the customer service employees is rude and unprofessional. This company interested only to sell you insurance during your reference process, if you not doing that and complaining about their customer service your guarantor just getting rejected.

Don't waste your money. Policy active for many years. Water leak, have emergency cover. Michael comes out, brings no tools and can't do the job, it's a Sunday. I'm on holiday abroad. Nothing happens, big disconnet between emergency cover and building insurance. A guy from UK calls and he's said he would help, passes it on to Emily. Classic no helpful customer advisor, no response to emails unless you chase and then you get a long one, then doesn't actually read it either. Say she can't call you abroad yet the business does. By the way, I held on for an hour for the emergency cover. Emily's responses are what she thinks what I'm asking but not what's in the email. Oh water leak is still going on for 5 days. She's asking me to get quotes. Insurance companies only earn their money when you need them. This one believes in a free lunch of bananas. Save your money and look else where. Trust me, the 5* that have been given are fake. You will only know when you are in need of your policy to work for you. All I got from Emily was more hurdles, like the asking for the tenants agreement. Like I carry it on holiday with me. Really, I suppose you pay peanuts, you get....... But I didn't pay peanuts, but I should have.

Homelet was used by the agency to check documentation for renting a flat I was renting. Their website is not good and there are frequent errors, I couldn't upload some documents. I also needed to provide literally all the same documents directly to the agency. Most importantly every time you log into their portal they tick again all options regarding marketing. Me and the other person using their portal have been spammed despite choosing every time that we don't want any communication. Especially annoying are emails urging to buy their insurance or sign up for credit check as these are purposely written to look as if it was necessary for current flat rent. Any estate agent using them is a joke, so unprofessional.

This "joke" that want's to be called "a company" was unfortunately being used by our Estate Agent for reference checks for both myself and my partner who were looking at renting a new property. We Both provided all necessary papers (payslips , bank statements etc etc) to our Estate Agent alongside with a completely filled "Homelet application" with ALL our details and every possible paperwork we've being asked Also WE BOTH DID put a CHECKMARK in the SMALL BOX in their leaflet that was clearly stating that "WE DON'T WANT TO BE CONTACTED FOR PROMOTIONAL PURPOSES" by them. 1st) We've being asked by them through e-mail to provide AGAIN the paperwork although our Estate Agent forward correctly all our details to them. 2nd AND MOST IMPORTANT! Myself and my partner are being literally BOMBARDED with emails (2 to 4 per day) , text messages and calls asking us if we want these services! (if you don't answer their call the will leave a voicemail message!) TOTALLY DISGUSTING ! I bet that people that are working there they DON't have the slightest idea of what they're doing, and DEFINITELY NO IDEA about ANY GDPR rules ! AVOID AT ANY COST!

Trying to fill out their online forms for a rental reference, so far I've tried on android, chrome, firefox, opera and edge but on all the web interface won't allow me to upload files or documents to support my application and the forms forget information even when closed using the saved option. I guess I will not be moving house after all.

They bombard you with emails and texts even when you ask them to stop and unsubscribe from their website etc. They also called me up to 6 times a day and left multiple voice messages. The one time I did answer the guy wouldn't take no for an answer when I said I didn't want to buy insurance for the property. He kept trying to get me to sign up for a 12 month insurance deal when my tenancy was only 6 months. Had to hang up on him mid sentence in the end.
