Verona in the Opera season was glorious. The Hotel Acadeia was located centrally and was well equipped to deal with temperatures of 38 deg? Transfers went like clockwork. Our agent answered our queries promptly and informitabely. Easyjet were not good on the way back with delayed departure then further delay waiting for a docking gate. Opera staff confiscated our water bottle and silent electric fan the argument that these were hard plastic!?

Good morning John, Thank you for your feedback on your Verona trip. I am surprised to hear of you having your water bottle and fan confiscated at the Arena. I know they have a limit on the amount of liquids they allow in, but this is only if you take 1 litre plus, so I will check into this. I would have thought your fan would not be a problem either, so sorry to hear you had this frustration. Sadly Easyjet have not had the best season, something very evident in the news at the moment. Between them and French Air Traffic Control strikes this summer, we have seen very few flights taking off and landing on time. I hope the above points notwithstanding, you still had a wonderful time in Verona and some happy memories to counteract the not so good. Kind regards Hannah

A lovely hotel, very handy for the centre of Verona. The chauffeur from the Airport was brilliant. What can I say about the Opera, words don't do it justice, incredible. The moon rose as the opera Carmen was half way through, very special.

The organisation from start to finish was excellent. The communications from "Italian Short Breaks" was also first class. Unfortunately, we were not enamoured by the Hotel, the rooms were small and we had issues with ants in our bedroom. The shower could only be likened to getting into a M.I.R scanner and very claustrophobic. The buffet breakfasts provided you were in the dining room very early were good however, if you were in the 8/8.30 contingent you had to ask the waitresses if they were going to replenish many of the items that had been available earlier, such as bread, butter and cold meats. I would not want to stay at this Hotel again. But, having said all that the staff were excellent and attentive. The opera was stunning and though it did not finish until 1.30 am it was worth every penny paid. I thank everyone that was involved in our booking and we shall keep you in mind when we look at another trip to Italy. Many thanks, Ian M.

Good afternoon Ian, Thank you for your wonderful feedback. I am so pleased you had a great time in Verona and will forward your comments to everyone involved. I am a bit surprised about your feedback regarding Hotel Firenze. We have used this hotel for many years and always had great feedback, however, they have changed ownership this year, so that could explain some of the points you raise, so thank you for making me aware of this. I hope you have a great day and will consider us again for your next adventure! Kind regards Hannah

We had a very enjoyable break, both hotels were very good and ideally located. However we were disappointed in two aspects of the booking process. Firstly we presumed the cost covered everything but when checking in online with Jet2 we had to pay €27 to book our seats. Secondly we requested a walk-in shower but Lake Garda (Grand Hotel Gardone) told us they informed you that this was not possible - this information was not passed back to us before the trip.

Good afternoon John, Thank you for your feedback on your recent trip to Verona and Lake Garda. I will forward your comments to everyone involved. Please note we never book seating on the planes unless instructed to do so, as most of our clients like to choose where they sit and this is a personal decision. Kind regards Hannah

Generally a good and well-organised trip - in particular the arrangements for the opera worked very smoothly and our tickets were excellent. While the hotel was comfortable and the staff were very obliging and charming, for three of our five nights there, there was a very loud concert in the adjoining square with crowds, noise etc. until after midnight. The location of the hotel was excellent, however, very close to all the main areas, so I suppose the concerts are the price we pay for that! As regards the trip to Cinque Terre, this was rather disappointing. It was all a bit rushed and ran late, and we had very little time in each location apart from the final town, Portovenere. When we got to the restaurant for our pre-booked lunch, there didn't seem to be a booking for us and we had to wait around for about 30 mins while the staff decided whether they could accommodate us! Finally our (excellent) guide, Luca, physically lifted some tables from outside, and 4 chairs, and the 4 in our group got seated. However, the meal was very disappointing after the long wait - a plate of pasta, a small piece of fish and potato, and dessert. I noticed that other diners there seemed to have a more varied meal and that was very annoying! So while our guide did his best, I would NOT recommend that particular trip and I would suggest that you try a different operator. As the main purpose of our trip was the opera in Torre del Lago I am happy that that worked so well, I am giving the trip an overall good review but the excursion could have been a lot better. I hope this helps when organising future trips. Marie Glynn

Good afternoon Marie, Thank you for your feedback on your recent trip to Lucca. I am so pleased you had a fantastic time in Lucca and at the opera. However, I will look into your comments regarding your Cinque Terre day tour. My apologies for this tour not going as well as it should have done. I hope this point notwithstanding, you will consider us again for your next trip! Kind regards Hannah

Opera was wonderful, even the expected thunderstorm held off!!! Travel & Transfer arrangements excellent. Il Sogno di Giulietta, comfortable beds, very poor breakfasts, (in room doesn`t really work) Indifferent staff. Palazzo Ravizza, querky but fun. Good staff & breakfast, very hard bed, required topper to sleep well. Garden requires more attention, flowers etc.

The weekend was very good for us and the Italian Short Break arrangements worked almost entirely as advertised. The opera, the real purpose of the trip, was everything we could have hoped and more; simply magnificent. The hotel which was reasonably good though not exceptional but certainly in an excellent position. The “almost” refers to the “Last Supper “ visit which was on the itinerary as a “Guided Tour”. We found the ticket office, obtained our tickets and were enthralled by the picture but no guide appeared and we were unclear what, if anything, we should be doing to find one. In the Santa Maria refectory there were two guided groups, neither using English. Perhaps we misunderstood the itinerary in some way? Did we?

Good afternoon Bruce, Thank you for your feedback on your recent Milan trip. Usually The Last Supper tour is guided with a small group, however, I understand from our supplier on that day no guides were available. I am sorry you missed out on this part of the tour, but glad you got to still see this amazing fresco. I will forward your feedback to everyone involved. Kind regards Hannah

Good hotel, good location, best seats for the opera's, very well organised by Weekend a' la Carte. Only down side, I chose Manchester Airport, my mistake. Love Italy, still love Italy.

Incredibly efficient! Great choice of hotel and background notes were helpful. One of the drivers (back to the airport) thought he was at Monza even though we had loads of time. It was disappointing that the Opera turned out to be only a concert performance-not a full staging- as we expected. We will certainly use the company again for a short break but will check the opera programme more carefully.

We had a very enjoyable weekend. The informative guide took us to places we couldn't have reached on our own and we picked up a lot of the history about the race. The travel arrangements worked well and the Palazzo Ravizza Hotel was excellent. The race was delayed by circa.1.5 hours and it was a long time to sit on the grandstand benches (5 hours) without access to the bars and cafes below for drink, food and toilets. The guide took us to the Cathedral but many of us had paid to see it on Saturday. We didn't really feel part of the Contrada Dinner and we enjoyed better food on the other evenings.

Trip was amazing. Our guide was very knowledgable . The hotel was o k we managed to change to a better room. The food on the atmosphera tram was excellent but we had a problem finding the tram the map showing us where to meet the tram was very poor and we found it difficult to locate the tram. Don Giovanni at the la Scala was a big treat amazing.

Everything went well. Eyepad which we inadvertently left in car at airport on departure, has been found, and is being forwarded to us in UK by DHL on our account. Well done ! Only suggestion is that you provide Fast Track facility at Manchester Airport, as security terminals were chaotic with long queues. regards Denis Leech

Dear Denis, Thank you for your feedback. I am glad your ipad is in transit back to you. In terms of fast track at Manchester, to the best of my ability this is only possible with Business class flights, although I will look into this. Kind regards Hannah

The hotel was good, all the transfers were really efficient and very friendly drivers. The only thing was the vouchers for the day trip and hotel which were not left at reception and we had to organise to receive them separately.

The transfer to and from the hotel was efficient but the driver drove at 160km per hour in a 130 km/hr restricted area many times. The guide to the Cathedral and the Last Supper was great, very informative and helpful. The hotel was clean and the room very good. Staff were very variable in their attitude to customers some were great and could not do enough whilst others were rude. There is a need for greater consistency in the training of such staff. The opera was an highlight of the week-end.

We thoroughly enjoyed our break in Verona. The itinerary provided omitted the second opera we had expected to see - Aida- but luckily when we checked in to the hotel, vouchers for both performances of Tosca and Aida- were waiting for us. The taxi waiting for us on arrival was good and the same lady took us back to the airport, so that worked well. For the Tosca, there was rain (with a bit of thunder and lightning) and the performance stopped twice because of the danger of damaging the orchestra instruments, but continued to finish.. On the second (Aida) night, rain stopped play two thirds of the way thru the third act and we left as there was no sign of the rain stopping. Luckily, very luckily, we missed little, but it is a gamble and there is no obvious compensation if the rain writes off the opera. A risk that you need to make apparent.. Overall, very pleased.
