“In general, I love Jottacloud as a replacement for Google Photos and Drive. In some respects it's not quite as polished as the "big" apps, e.g. the mobile app and website performance isn't great – sometimes both navigating and opening photos and videos can feel really slow, especially videos.
For a while I struggled with photos and videos not showing up in Jottacloud until I found the "Excluded photos" and "Hidden photos" views. I still don't understand what they do and why some photos go into these folders, but now at least I know where to look if I can't find anything in my regular timeline.
It'd be nice if there was an easier way of browsing photos by location that wasn't map-based, e.g. dynamic albums organised by country or trip. As it is now, we still have to manually create albums for each holiday.”
“1. The backend is good, nothing special, just works.
2. The desktop app for Mac is not bad, but every now and then, after an update, it loses all the backup settings, you have to add folders again. The second time this happened, I just deleted it, and now I have no reason to use the service at all.”
“Fin løsning for å sikre data og ikke minst sikre at de lagres i Norge
Savner muligheten til å ekskludere filer/mapper for søk/preview slik at det er kun lagring og ikke view i app”
“The core of you product, backing stuff up and syncing files to the cloud, works perfectly. It's super fast, it's really easy to access my images from my iPhone or other Macs.
There is some room for improvement however.
1. Your desktop app leaves a bit to be desired. I suggest you hire a service designer and UX/UI designer to fix it.
2. A minor peeve: when browsing my backups from my iPhone, I can only search for files, not folders. Also, I would like to see where the files that I find by searching are in the directory structure.”
“I lack much experience with comparable services (I still use Dropbox, and was using Genie9 to backup my laptop at work) so please take in account this too, especially because I went for Genie9 because they provided local backup, similar to what Apple does with Time Machine.
Jottacloud works fine for me, and has already saved some important stuff for me in the current year.”
“Jottacloud is a good cloud backup provider. Although understandable, the only thing missing is an unlimited speed at uploads, even after several TB of data. But customer service is good, price is acceptable for that service, and restoring backup is really easy to do.”
