I absolutely loooved my dress but I didn’t love the overall Karen Willis experience. I found my perfect dress & chose it on the day however I live 6 hours from Sydney which caused some difficulty picking it up when it was ready. I ended up just picking it up from head office - I was handed the bag and that was it. I didn’t get to try it on to see if it fit or if I loved it I just picked it up paid the remaining balance and left. For $4500 it definitely could have been a better experience. My sister recently got engaged and we went wedding dress shopping and decided not to go to Karen Willis as the overall experience was just disappointing so we chose a smaller boutique that looked after her from start to go and she felt like a very special bride.

Hi Millie, Thank you for your review, We had attempted to contact you in October to book a "Check Fitting" (a 30 minute appointment to try on your finished gown and then collect it). When you called back in November, we did book you in for a Check Fitting appointment and Collection in December. As you arrived an hour earlier to your appointment, we were fully booked and unable to see you until that time. Our Fitter and notes confirmed, you opted to take your gown rather than come back at your scheduled time. Of course, we do want to make every bride happy and we're sorry that our schedules did not line up for your check fitting & collection. Unless a bride is under time pressure, we do not normally let our gowns out of our hands before a bride tries it on. We do pride ourselves on our KWH experience and from all notes on our end, you had a great time in our Sydney boutique. We really would appreciate if you revised your review. I visited KWH Melbourne back in January after many positive reviews. I was left feeling fairly disappointed. It was incredibly crowded/busy, often having to share mirrors with other brides trying on dresses. The girl who helped me was lovely, however she didn’t offer to help me get in/out of dresses - which for some dresses, was quite a struggle. I also found the space itself fairly dirty - bits of material and leaves on the carpet, lounges with stains, etc. Just really not what I imagined. I also got a random email after leaving my appointment with a receipt and card details from my “dress purchase” which turns out was some other bride - and it was accidentally emailed to me.

To be quite honest, my experience at KWH was inconsistent and I would say frustrating at some points. At the showroom I was greeted with lovely, helpful people - however they lacked the ability to observe their customers and adapt their approach / temperament. Moving onto the fittings - I was allocated to someone quite passive aggressive and at times would not even let me finish my question or sentence before answering. As a paying customer, and a bride, the tailoring experience should have been exciting and calming. Instead I dreaded this experience. I was forced to have 3 fittings, and upon the 3rd fitting the dress was still not as I had asked and I had to leave yet again and return a 4th time - days before my wedding - to pick up the dress. I was told to keep my shoulders and back straight - and the dress would fit appropriately, however I wanted to be a comfortable and relaxed bride. One cannot keep their back perfectly straight (nor should they have to) in order for the dress to sit nicely. The bodice of the dress was tailored well however the boning area was not ironed and looked quite creased in the photos which I had pointed out at my fittings and was told the dress would warm up to my body and flatten itself out.

Hello Marina, Thank you for taking the time to send through your review, we a disappointed to hear you didn’t enjoy the experience with us at KWH. Whilst we do take every measure possible to achieve an stress-free and efficient fitting and alteration process, unfortunately tailoring to one’s body isn’t an exact science and some of our gowns such as the gorgeous Taryn & Camille is structured in its nature and can be difficult to achieve the relaxed look you were after. We have taken on board your feedback about your experience and will certainly pass it on to our team to improve upon for our future brides. My experience wasn’t pleasant when I was ordering a wedding gown from you. Cant remember her name now, but the staff was very impatient. I was ordering from Singapore and it was extremely hard for me to decide, since I have only tried on once in Sydney. As I wasn’t allowed to take photos on fitting day, I literally was purchasing wedding gown without trying on.for the first few emails, the staff was nice, when after i felt just a pressure to have more options. At the end, my dress didn’t fit me right, and I regretted spending so much money.
