“Optima Legal should have their license with major lenders revoked. I have never been through such a stressful experience with a company before in my life. I remortgaged and they messed up the paperwork. I contacted them with the necessary corrections by all means possible and they didn’t get back to me for 15 days! By this time, I had been forced to contact the estranged outgoing party to tell them not to sign the paperwork. This was a high conflict, abusive relationship and I should never have been forced into this position. My case was handled by 9 different case handlers from start to finish rather than the one I was supposed to have assigned. This caused further confusion, delays and mistakes. They even lied when I complained trying to justify a pitiful token compensatory payment of £100 by saying it was in line with what their regulators recommend. Regulators don’t recommend levels of compensation! To top it off, they even asked me to pay extra money for my case to complete. I had no choice, but made it absolutely clear I would be adding this to my request for a refund. Their summary of my 10 week experience from start to finish was perhaps more shocking of all. It was put down to nothing more than ‘slow progress of my file’. What an absolute joke. Needless to say, my case is now with the Legal Ombudsman.”

“I have just finished writing a formal letter of complaint to this company. They were recommended to me by my mortgage provider Halifax and I also copied Halifax into my letter. Amongst the errors made were major mistakes in the calculation of Stamp Duty owed, long delays in addressing messages sent on their portal, 9 employees communicating with me on the portal rather than the one Case Executive I was told I would have, offers of compensation based on what their 'regulators' suggest-even though regulators have no bearing whatsoever on compensation offered. Also, a reluctance to provide their names during phone contact suggesting an unwillingness to be held accountable. This is highly unprofessional. I was also forced to make contact with the outgoing party to highlight the inaccuracies in the paperwork sent to both sides when it became clear that Optima Legal would not do so themselves within an acceptable time frame. This had been a high-conflict relationship and therefore, having to make this contact was extremely stressful for me. Without doubt, this is the worst company I have ever dealt with.”

What should have been a straightforward remortgage has dragged on for over 16 weeks, with no clear justification for the delays. The lack of communication has been absolutely unacceptable. I was repeatedly instructed to use their online portal to leave messages, but these were rarely acknowledged, let alone responded to in any meaningful way.
There has been zero initiative from their side to keep me informed or move the process along. I had to constantly chase for updates, only to be met with silence or vague responses. For a legal firm handling sensitive financial matters, this level of disorganisation and disregard for clients is shocking.
Optima Legal has caused unnecessary stress and wasted time—I would strongly advise others to steer clear”
