Don’t waste your time applying. Applied for a couple of dogs (who were both very suited to our home and lifestyle) and completed an extensive application form with photos. Communication is non existant. A dog I applied for 6 weeks ago is still listed as reviewing applications! Please don’t promote rescuing dogs when it seems virtually impossible for anyone to rescue a dog. I gave up, went to a registered breeder who we spoke to for 10 minutes. We now have a dog. This dog will get a 5 star lifestyle with us so that’s what a rescue dog has missed out on.

I have seen 3 members in the Forster area. I have fostered over 30 dogs for AWL & Sweet Pea - both great organisations. I have just had the fis pleasure of fostering for George Web pet rescue (Georgia) who didn’t follow any protocols, was ungrateful and showed no appreciation, management skills and deplorable communication. My advise to anyone contemplating using this service is DON’T. She is not registered (as are AWL&Sweet Pea) and has no integrity, appreciation or care. We had to initiate the dogs desexing. His microchip was still in his owners name. She did not check on his welfare (even after his desexing operation) during our 4 months of care. Even after two (2) unanswered messages his worming chew was 2 days late & just left at the front door ( we were home but no one rang the doorbell or knocked). We were not invited to his hand over until we virtually demanded it. John Winmill. - Forster

I was looking at a particular cat advertised which had been renamed, confirmed by the rescue but had a different microchip from the original name. Makes you think how legit these places are and what's the point of giving microchip number when incorrect details are advertised.

I found Petrescue's communication to be poor and at times, non existent. Yes, I get it, they're all volunteers. In the end, I sought my new boy from other sources.

Not petrescue. per se. Its about the rescue groups in Victoria that list for interstate adoption but list from Vic for only N.S.W and ACT. I am only 4 1/2hrs travel from Melbourne, yet because I am just over the border in South Australia adoption is not considered. Here in S.A small dogs are extremely few and far between. My partner and I are retired pensioners and we cannot take on large dogs for good reason. A small companion dog is appropriate for our situation. Over the years in the past we have had our lives enriched with 3 rescued cats and 3 dogs. We chose to give rescues a home but with the way adoptions are conducted pensioners/retirees are left behind both in acessibility for interstate adoptions and also with fees, are seniors rates acknowledged? Pet companionship is for seniors is often seem in illustrated promotions, yet the difficulty (outside metropolitan) is a reality, especial in rural areas.

I applied for a cat the process is unprofessional which makes me wonder if they are legit. I was referred to BFF feline They only communicate through email and then reply with an unsuccessful message before the meet and greet process.

I have tried to adopt dogs from PET Rescue on 2 occasions. The generic email response that you have not been successful is not exactly professional. If this is because the dog has already been adopted, their website should say something like "Adoption pending". You would then not waste the time trying to get a specific dog.

Clearly there is no intention to adopt any animals out when the 'app' for android plays ads that block the site from working.. every 10 seconds .. not even joking about that time!!!! I've scrolled past 2 dogs, looked at one.. and it keeps shutting down.

I apppied to adopt a male Staffy named Frankie, supplied a full history of my dog ownership past and even attached photos of yards and gates, I received a generic response and a requirement of force free training, I wasn’t familiar with this term until I spoke to a friend who is a registered dog trainer and explained what it meant, Tracy at pet rescue gave no explanation and after several requests for an explanation I’ve received no replies, once I found out what the term force free meant I realised that’s exactly how I have trained my current beautiful dog, this generic response is just not good enough yet I’ve not received any further contact from Pet Rescue, my advice before attempting an adoption through pet rescue is only use them as a last resort and expect a generic response from them without any explanation or detail, I always believed they did a great job with caring for animals and arranging good homes , I know see them quite differently and understand that they are not there for the right reasons and certainly are not interested in finding loving homes for pets needing one. I don’t exodus a response from them and will happily speak to and warn any potential adopters before you apply

We adopted our beautiful dog from here. Very quick and smooth process. The foster parents were so helpful and informative and clearly cared for all the dogs in their charge. We couldn't have been happier with the process or outcome.

These people misrepresent the animals they are trying to rehome. They had an advertisement on their website for an almost adult Maremma sheepdog and they were implying that it would make a great suburban pet and made no effort to explain that they are extremely territorial dogs who will bark all night long. I tried reaching out to them in order to convince them to change their advertisement to save this poor dog from being adopted and returned a week later, but there was no reply from the organisation. It's sad to know animals have their fate in the hands of incompetent people who are not even capable of using an email. It looks like there lack of communication is a driving factor behind their poor reviews.

Tried to adopt through pet rescue with no luck. Long list of questions answered for nothing, they never replied. I have owned dogs all my life and l did lose two to cancer but the others made it to ripe old age. Don't waste your time with pet rescue. Went to the lost dogs home in Melbourne and came home with my beautiful new dog that l love dearly.

Applied for a rescue cat, filled in paperwork and didn’t hear from anyone for 3 weeks. Then emailed again with a response the owner will get back to me . Disheartening as I was hoping to help someone out by rescuing an older cat . Will most rescue from the local shelter . Should not have wasted time on this website .

To ad to my recent review, I submitted a query to PR regarding the trial period and auto responses and I received a helpful reply from their customer service. There are provisions for adoption groups to mark the ad when a pet is on hold or on trial. The status is marked adopted if trial is successful or ad is reactivated if not. Some groups do not choose to use this feature. There is also a provision to auto update enquirers each time a PetRescue listing is updated to on hold or adopted. Some adoption groups don't use the feature and others request external applications or direct emails, therefore the auto responder feature is not used as the communications are not on the PR platform. With my pet application, the adoption group chose not to use the features I described above, and they also omitted to specify a key adoption criteria on their ad. The handling of their ad was tardy and not the fault of PR. I'm not suggesting PR are in anyway perfect but I do believe in giving fair and balanced reviews.

I recently applied to adopt a dog on PetRescue. It was my first time and I wasn't successful. The dog breed was not one that is commonly available as an adult for adoption (anywhere) and is growing in popularity, so I knew my chances were very slim. So I wasn't surprised with the outcome but I'm not impressed with the process. The application takes a lot of effort and time. When I hit submit, there was no auto reply to confirm the application had been received. A week later, I checked back on the site and the dog had been marked adopted. On the ad it said the dog comes with a two week trial. This raises the question, is the status marked adopted at the start or end of the two week trial. The start of the trial suggests the adoption is pending, the end of the trial suggests the dog was already on trial. This latter means that applications were still open in case things didn't work out. That's a waste of time and very unfair on would be applicants. My other issue is needing to check the PR website for the adoption status. When applications are submitted or animals are saved it as a favourite then why isn't there a responder sent directly via the PR website informing the applicant when the adoption centre marks the animal as adopted.

Applied for two different dogs. Tried to do the right thing by adopting a rescue dog. First one never replied. The second one asked for a lot of information and never got back. Well I found two dogs outside of pet rescue and they are very happy and will have a great life. All of our dogs have lived to 14 and above years. Don't waste your time like they did mine

waste of time. It is a rescue organisation and doing (HOPEFULLY) rescue work. But sincerely a serious waste of time. I tried to adopt a kitten, tried various kittens. Every time i was told that kitten has pre adopt done. I am aexperienced cat owner with one existing cat in a house. My suggestion to all who are looking for a kitten adoptation..GO either RSPCA or Pet shop. These volunteers have turned inot a money hungry leaches. I can prove everything i said in my review. Anyone can contact me
