“We have been using Pinch A Penny at 2251 Citrus Blvd. Leesburg, Florida. We recently bought a house that had a hot tub. The brand is HotSprings with the salt water system. We went to Pinch Penny to get their advice on how to treat this correctly. They told us to use bromine. As it turned out, their advice was wrong. Their response was that it was our responsibility to know how to treat the water in the hot tub.
They did not have the knowledge to prescribe the chemicals we needed to operate the hot tub correctly. They sold us a startup kit and extra chemicals. We were unable to get the water balanced. This caused us to go to a Hot Springs Outlet. Pinch A Penny was having us, place bromine and chlorine into the water at the same time. These chemicals are indirect conflict with one another. We brought this information to the staff, including the manager. They would not give us a refund on the unused chemicals. They said they are not supposed to give any refunds on sold product. They did not honor their policy for refunds on new and unused product. They are more interested in selling product then giving accurate advice for the use of the chemicals they sell.
They have lost us as a client indefinitely!”
“Purchased a part that the employee got out of his truck. When I got home part was not needed and I tried to return it in the bag that the employee gave me with the receipt. Refused to take it back an refund money. Stated they could not take it back because they would not sell product in the bag that I had. So lessoned learned don't trust this store.”
“Pinch a Penny is the ONLY POOL STORE I WILL PATRONIZE! Their customer service is superior. Their employees are extremely helpful! They are FAIR and HONEST, and do EXCELLENT work! You should not go to any other pool store if you have a Pinch a Penny store! They went “above & beyond “ for me!”
“Have been using beeRidge location for over 13 years. Always wonderful service and advise. Worked with Jason today on a replacement salt cell OUCH
He was wonderful and definitely understands retention, something missing today in most businesses. Everyone has always been very friendly and helpful.
Definitely recommend”
“I’ve been shopping at the Mandarin Jacksonville Pinch-a-Penny for 25 years and have seen staff move to management level. Consistent exceptional customer service. They build and maintain relationships with their Clients there. Recently, Manager got involved to expeditiously resolve a matter with their equipment supplier. A professional courtesy in going over and beyond, which was greatly appreciated.”
“We had our pool resurfaced by Pinch A Penny Panama City, FL. We thought they did a good job. The warranty states protection against delamination for 10 years, as long as monthy water samples were brought in, which we did... always buying the products needed, and doing as recommended.
A few years later we noticed a small area of delamination and let Jimmy Legg know about it. It took SEVEN MONTHS to get any response, then he quoted us $1,300 to repair a 3x4 inch area under warranty. The entire resurfacing was only about $5,000. I can't understand paying $1,300 for a small area under warranty.
Over the years, we have probably spent approximately $15,000 with this company. We were good customers. We will never do business with them again, nor will we recommended them. So disappointing. I can see now why they have such low ratings. I just wish I would have never done business with them.”
“Don't buy a polaris freedom from them, two months and counting for warranty parts replacement. Excuses have been plentiful. What a sham for $1300 pool cleaner still under warranty.”
“Very helpful in solving our problem with the pool heater. Didn't do it for the money. We have made this our go-to store due to their knowledge and willingness to help! Great customer service.”
“I had my water tested at two different pinch a pennies within two days. One showed my pool was at proper levels in all categories and the other with the same testing showed that I needed $85 worth of chemicals. Someone needs to recalibrate their settings on their water testing”
“I requested weekly pool service. The price was ok. Everything was acceptable. But he mentioned that they don’t empty the skimmer basket unless you pick the deluxe service at a higher price. I asked a question about them not emptying the skimmer basket and he informed me he wasn’t interested in my business and he declined me service. He said my attitude was bad, just over a simple question. I have used them for 8 years of testing and buying chemicals. Needless to say I’m deleting them from my contacts. Business is way too good. Lost me. Punta Gorda on south 41. I wish I got his name. He is in service.”
“Deranged employee became abusive for no reason when I utilized their curbside service which they offered to those of us who needed it. The elderly man was offensive in every way and tried to burst large chlorine jugs into my trunk of my suv, when that didn't work, he continued his offensive behavior; when I told him I had a medical condition, he continued to mock me and ran into the store so I couldn't confront him. The manager told me she would not do anything about this incident; as a loyal customer for 15 years, I will not return to this menagerie.”
