I hate to give this controller a 2 star, because I actually really like it. But there is one big design flaw. It doesn’t allow for a case. Even a very slim case. It’s annoying to have to remove it every time to play a game. And when traveling I really don’t want to take the case off my $1000 phone. The only other thing I’ve noticed is that the button clicks are a bit loud. Other than that I do like the controller. However, given the issues, I would return it if I could.

When I first saw this device, I was very ecstatic! All of the childhood games I played on Xbox and Xbox One we’re going to come true, and the opportunity to play high demand games as well! Unfortunately, it came with a pretty heavy requirement: Internet. I will say this for the others considering to buy this: this is not a PSP or GameBoy for portable gaming. I was led to believe that the Game Pass Ultimate would be “cartridges” to allow me to play games while on the go. That wasn’t the case; after redeeming my code and getting my BackBone plugged in, I came to find out that you need to have Internet to do Xbox Cloud Gaming in order to access the games. By doing so, you cannot play these games while traveling. That was my main priority. Additionally, the hard requirement of Internet is way too steep. If your Internet is not the best, I would not recommend getting this. I live in a single house with only my iPhone and my roommate’s iPhone on our Wi-Fi. Even after that, I cannot play any of the games in an efficient manner. I would rubber-band, lag, or even have messages say “your Internet connection may delay your gameplay“. At one point, my game actually forced closed me out! So if I cannot play a game without getting a lag spike every 60 seconds, this device is not worth it. Ultimately, if I couldn’t get this to work at my own private Wi-Fi, good luck using Wi-Fi at a Starbucks, library, college campus, or airplane! Very disappointed.

I was supposed to receive a adapter for iPhone 13 pro 2 weeks after I received my backbone! I still haven’t received or heard anything about it

Not the same as Xbox. The controller is nice and fits and feels good, it’s just the software, downloading the game, then it’s updates and trying to connect is such a real pain on the rear. This gadget isn’t for me and I returned it.

Not happy, was under impression from article I read I would’ve been grandfathered in lifetime subscription from when I ordered it Obviously that was not the case

I’m sorry to say that the remote freezes whenever it pleases, does not respond when In game stops working mid game also has very bad delay for the buttons X,A.L2. I had my hopes up just to get them shot down. 😔

Purchased June 7th, today is August 12th. Roughly 2 months after purchasing 2 buttons have completely stopped working. I like to say I play on it a lot but not every single day. I do love the controller but the quality is not worth 100$ for 2 months of play. Fortunately for them and unfortunately for me it is conveniently past the 30 day return policy. I would much rather exchange for a new one because I do love playing it so much. Oh well.. just weight out our pros and cons before purchasing

Not what I was expecting. I thought it was advertised that you could play Xbox games on your phone without having to have your Xbox on or tv on.

I appreciate being sent a replacement after informing Backbone that the gamepad I ordered from Amazon wouldn’t work with my iPhone. But after receiving the replacement, still not working with my phone, reaching them about my issue and sending a follow-up email about it, I have yet to hear a response. I’m now stuck with a Backbone I can’t even use, when it clearly says on their website that it’s compatible. I bought it particularly just so I wouldn’t upgrade my iPhone to the latest model. If this would be the case, I would’ve upgraded my phone and bought a Kishi instead. I still hope to hear back from them and know how I could make the gamepad work with my current iPhone cuz I would hate to have to spend more just to upgrade it

Having to take your phone out of the case every time has proven to be a detriment to general use. I also have yet to have a satisfactory experience playing either PS4 or XBox One remotely, although that could well be due to the remote capabilities of the consoles, but that is the primary reason I bought the Backbone.

It worked perfect for the first week then I started having problems with games loading. Now it keeps freezing up daily. Please fix this issue. Would be greatly appreciated if someone can get ahold of me and fix this issue.

I Bought it in hopes to use it for PUBG Mobile but after I had it I was informed it will not work for that game?! I’m disappointed and have not even tried it yet. Still sitting in box!

Excellent controller, until it broke three month later. L2 trigger does not work after trying it on multiple games. I wrote to customer service to see how we can get this fixed, but they have not helped resolve my issue after almost two weeks since I reached out to them. I sent them a follow up email, and still nothing. Pretty disappointed for such a promising product.

I regret to admit that your product feels like it still has much more room to improve in terms of its game support. For starters, many other companies are attempting to hit this very crucial gaming market with a similar controller that supports more than Backbone. As I am an owner of your product already, all I can hope for is that I will be able to utilize your product as it was originally intended shortly and if not, it will be another great idea that went south.
