Had issues with the vouchers due to “spelling mistakes” in the T&Cs….which clearly included clearance items. Email for help went unanswered for a week. Chat worked in getting a response.

The torch did not work. I charged it for at least 12 hours and only a flickering is seen. NO LIGHT!

Checked the box for a right hand bottle cage and a left hand turned up. Emailed the company and got no reply. Ended up fitting the left hand one but will not use the company again

Hello Andy, Thanks for your feedback. Sorry to read you didn't receive a reply. (Did you double check your spam folder ?). I have looked back on our email records... We checked on your order within minutes of receiving your email and replied within minutes. Email received: 12:15 We replied: 12:19 Our records show that you chose and checked out a left-hand bottle cage. Perhaps the left button was pressed by mistake? But we replied saying that it's not a problem whatsoever and we would be happy to take the bottle cage back and issue you a refund. 😊 Best regards Simon

Cancelled order. Helmet never sent but Scotby kept postage money. Responded to my concerns aggressively in red ink. Accused me of lying on twitter

Hi Lorna, We cancelled your order as you had sent an email the same day after placing the order wanting the order cancelled. The order was then cancelled, and the full amount was refunded back to your card. We replied to your email with the answers to your questions written in red, sorry if this came across aggressively. On Twitter, you wrote that we did not refund the (£2.95) postage which we charge for orders placed on our website under £30. We did refund this. As we are only a small independent, we do not cover return postage costs. Sorry. Best regards Simon

Terrible customer service. Paid especially for next day delivery, only to have the item delivered 4 days later. Simon in 'customer services' didn't apologise once. Instead he was rude, condescending and didn't care less that I had paid for a service I didn't receive. Refused to refund the next day delivery charge, instead trying to shift blame on me! They even expect me to pay to return items. First - and last - time using Scotbycycles.

This reply has come from the Director of Scotby Cycles because Simon asked for it to be escalated:- Dear Anonymous, Understanding the way carriers operate their Next Day Delivery can sometimes be frustrating for customers. Unfortunately, you placed your order at 15:43 after the cut-off time on Thursday so your parcel would not be collected until Friday, with delivery on Monday. If you had ordered using Saturday Delivery you would have received it on Saturday. We have to work with the way the UK carrier service operates and we try to make it as clear as possible. Our website explains it (see below). We achieved what was set out according to your order. I have read all your correspondence with Simon. There was nothing rude or condescending in his emails. I am also sorry that you felt the need to fabricate a dig at Simon. To keep our prices "sharp" we no longer offer a free returns service on shoes (This was because some customers would often order 2-3 pairs carriage free, then send them back on a FREE RETURN. Ultimately this was not sustainable unless we charged all customers more. We decided to keep our prices "cutting edge" and update our returns policy. We did this a long time before your recent purchase). I am sorry that your expectations have not been met and that you are annoyed about what has happened. We strive hard to give outstanding service. Hello Ismael, Sorry to read your 1-star review. I've checked on your order and can see that we have dispatched your order on the very next day for a DPD next working day service as selected. (Saturday delivery option was not chosen). Here is the timeline: 18:02 Thursday 24th October: Order placed after cut off time. 14:22 Friday 25th October: Order picked and dispatched via DPD for delivery on Monday 28th October as selected. 11:16 Monday 28th October: Order delivered to the requested pick up shop. As you can see from the timeline we've shipped your order as quickly as possible and DPD have delivered your order on time. I always prefer to buy from independent bike shops however I found your customer support to be almost superficial. I'm not convinced that the email I sent had been read before it was responded to and the flippant tone of the email was not something I would have expected. Needless to say I will not be recommending your store to fellow cyclists.

It is understandably frustrating and I’m sorry that things didn’t work out as you had hoped.However you mistakenly ordered a gents bike when what you really wanted was a ladies bike. The bike we sent you was exactly as your ordered stated. We asked you to return the bike if you are not happy with it, which you did, and you were provided with an immediate no quibble refund as requested. Our intention is to always offer top customer service.

Ordered an Assos Cycling jacket around the middle of January. Order shipped with Royal Mail. Initial delivery failed on 2 occasions; which was frustrating but, understandable not Scotby’s fault. However, the third delivery that was attempted was scanned by Royal Mail as signed for and delivered - despite me receiving a card through my door advising that delivery had been unsuccessful and that I need to either rearrange delivery or collect the parcel from my local depot. I brought this to Scotby’s attention, who were quick to blame Royal Mail for their mistake. However, since then, no solution has been reached. Simon, from their customer care team, has been waiting for a callback from Royal Mail for a number of days but has not offered any actual solution that leaves me with either a jacket or a refund. So far, I’m not hopeful I’ll receive either and Scotby’s Cycles will keep my money and continue to blame Royal Mail - whilst leaving their customer unsatisfied and overall really disappointed. One of the downsides of using such a small retailer. It’s a shame that their customer service doesn’t match larger companies in instances such as this. An update to my previous review: RM Have concluded their investigation and confirm the delivery of my order - despite it not being with me. Simon from Scotby seemed delighted to tell me there was 'nothing more he could do' and that it was now up to me to contact RM to claim for their mistake, claiming it's 'Always how they've done business' TLDR: Ordered from Scotby. Item never delivered. Poor customer service and I'm ultimately left £215 out of pocket and with no jacket. I wouldn't trust this company again and would recommend to stay away when ordering online and shop elsewhere.

Initially Royal Mail attempted delivery, but no one was available to sign for it. When redelivered Royal Mail tracking showed the item was signed for. We asked customer to check with his neighbours. After much complaint from customer and a huge amount of our time spent trying to find out why he had not received the item the customer then went to one of his neighbours (over a week later) to find they had signed for it and taken delivery for him. Still not happy he returned the item to us and we gave an immediate full refund without any quibble. Is it fair to say this is bad customer service? We did everything possible, and quickly.

Bought a pair of shoe covers and great expense that after one wear developed a hole. Was told that as it is not stitching or seam it is not covered under warranty. I suspect I have an argument for ‘fit for purpose’ given I have only worn them once and they no longer work but quite frankly, I cannot be bothered, there are plenty of other shops and brands to buy from.

Hello Dominic, Sorry to read your review. I have read your email with Alex. I can see that Alex contacted the UK suppliers about your hole that appeared on the bottom of your Castelli over shoes (forwarding your photo). We received a reply from the suppliers: "This wouldn’t be covered under warranty. These would have been caused by the customer missing his pedal and standing on them rather than clipping in." Therefore the UK suppliers would not replace under warranty. We have done everything we possibly can for you. (We've also sent some suggestions for repair). Sorry, we could not help you further. I ordered a bike online and received immediate confirmation. 13 hours later I was told that my order had been cancelled due to an error by Scotby Cycles. No alternatives were offered. Scotby Cycles have lost me as a customer now and in the future. 0/5.

Hello Peter, We are really sorry for this, we had a stock discrepancy on our website and regrettably did not have the bike that you purchased. We tried to find an alternative model to offer you from one of our bike suppliers, however they have sold out. Therefore as per our email we issued you with a refund.
