“Its all been said before, they are CROOKS They will take money out of your account without authorisation, do not give them a direct debit mandate, it will be at your peril. SOLARPLICITY ARE THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. They should be closed down, the UK should be embarrassed to give them a licence to operate. I would give them a negative star if possible.”
“Solarplicty are crooks. Avoid like the plague. They took 6 months to issue a final bill after we switches suppliers, finally issuing an incorrect bill with over £400 of charges with a bill that was back-dated 6 weeks before we received it, swiftly followed up by threatening emails saying they will refer our case to a debt-collector if not paid within 7 days. This is not a mistake, it's a deliberate tactic. They do not respond to emails, and their call centre is a joke – the operatives know nothing and blatantly lie, promising they have taken action 'that email is coming to you now' when they do nothing. The online portal of the website has stopped working and I have been unable to gain access for the last 4 months to verify previous meter readings.”
“Worst company I've ever dealt with. Do not go with them. Nothing has gone right from beginning to end. We are now trying to get credit owed to us from them total of £82. We swapped beginning of June, they then took another direct debit payment end of June, I then cancelled our direct debit which I'm now glad I did otherwise they would have still been taking it. Total rubbish. If I could have given less than 1 star I would.”
“Disgusting and most unhelpful unorganised company.
Left this company 3 months ago and still being charged.
After numerous emails and phone calls 😡😡😡😡😡
Was 280 in credit now have no credit, there Laughing all the way to the bank.
(Avoid this company).
Even have proof of the credit.”
“Waiting for my final bill, the only time they were efficient with a reply was when I cancelled my direct debit!! Reading the reviews I see little hope of getting my final bill anytime soon, avoid them at all costs!!”
“Scam artists - avoid at all costs.
Having been with them for 18 months, I swapped when my contract ended to another supplier, no issues there. However, I have an account credit with them and they do not want to pay it back. In the 3 months I've been chasing them to get it back, the answer is always the same "Oh yes, it's fine, you'll be paid in 15 days, don't worry", but it's never the reality.
When you call back there's always some sort of excuse as to why it's happened and why the 15 days need to reset. Three months later I am now having to pursue this with the ombudsman to get my money back.
With many other small energy firms in the UK going under this year, my strong feeling is that they are nearly going to the wall and are holding onto as much money as they can (no doubt to pay executive salaries).”
“Wouldn't give them a star!
Worst company of any utility company that I've come across.
Where do I start;
Free LED lamps - forget that you won't receive.
Smart meter - they installed but don't use, they still estimate, I've no idea of my true bill.
Communication - you'll be lucky to get a reply to anything.”
“They tried to increase my direct debit when it was not required and trying to get credit refunded to you is almost impossible, I am in the process of switching supplier, this company is a disgrace.”
“5months of chasing they say I been credited 32£ but I don't see any credit they credit which they are saying which I already had from previous issues and it was updated on 29th June so they said I already got compensation I don't understand when did they give the compensation and the lady who I spoke to she hangup the call when I was talking and when I asked the manager she says there is no manager available what a customer service and she says I used bad language when I didn't even use any bad language and she says call is recorded I said I know she's trying to cut the call. Bad service I have ever received from the supplier”
“PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. Trying it recoup credit owed to me, and keep getting fobbed off by them. Very quick to pick up the phone and very polite but bordering on the fraudulent when it comes to reimbursing your money.”
“DO NOT join Solarplicity. This is the worst company I have ever been with. Only increased there power prices slightly but almost doubled the standing charge. Have now left them and I am TRYING to recover over £100 they owe me. They will not even answer my e.mails. Can anyone tell me the next step to take”
“Avoid like the plague! OK at first then they install shoddy smart meter that sends false readings and then they send a bill for hundreds of pounds. Finally corrected it but I had already left now fighting to get my credit back!”
“It was OK until they were my supplier, but as soon as I switched to a different company the pain started. They did not register the change to the new supplier and kept on sending bills, including threatening letters to resort to debt collection companies, and customer service was very poor and unable to do much. This was finally sorted by the other company, Bulb, who had excellent support.
Stay away from them.”
“I left Solarplicity almost three months ago, but haven't received the large positive balance I had with them back, or even a final bill. No explanation from them, despite sending them numerous requests for my money to be refunded.”
“The most dishonest company I have ever seen, not updating the bills, creating chaos in the billing.
We installed a smart meter but the billing system is the same.
On the last call they told me I am confused.
I paid and moved, I paid £62 a month on a one bedroom flat, a single person that missed two months from the flat. I was supposed to pay max £40.
They owe me at least £150, maximum £600.
They never took a reading, they never made a manual calculation. They are lazy and weird, just sending you sms after sms to make you pay, and using robots to calculate whatever they estimate.
I was thinking that waiting 2 hours on a Scottish Power call was too much.
I need legal advice to recover my money with Solarplicity, all other companies agreed on correct recalculations, these guys installed a smart meter, and forgot about the readings before the smart meter, but not about the money.
I feel sad only thinking about Solarplicity.”
“Avoid avoid avoid. I have never received any light bulbs after 2 years and numerous phone calls. Refund what a joke!!! I was owed £129 in credit!! 3 phone calls and 4 weeks later,u guessed it nothing. I am still trying to get my over payment back. Like many other people I would give a zero rating if possible”
“Still not fully refunded
Solarplicity have made a refund to me but there is a shortage of £xxxxx to comply with the ruling made by the Ombudsman. See my review of a few days ago. The cannot even understand the ruling - which is simple: Cancel my bill and make a goodwill payment.
I can only see one way out of this mess now and it's legal action. I will be recovering all costs which will amount to a heck of a lot more than they currently owe me.
They've had their chances and not taken them.”
“Wow. My only solace is, now I’ve read the reviews, the knowledge that everyone else has had the same appalling experience as me. This company is disgusting. I am going to write to my MP as someone needs to be brought to account for s the money they steal and refuse to pay back. I didn’t think this sort of thing could happen,”
