They came to property today to repair boiler that had been repaired 3 months ago I refuse to pay extra when plumber arrived and he left me with a leaking boiler that flooded my kitchen

If I could give zero star, I would. Avoid like the plague. South Star Plumber Ltd carried out a "boiler repair work" for me. The boiler was not repaired. They just adjusted the gas valve however the minute the guy left, the boiler stopped working with the exact same problem as before, leaving us with no heating. The problem was misdiagnosed as when I called out another gas engineer, they confirmed that the cause of the problem was something else entirely. Later the manufacturer also confirmed this. I told Southstar about this and requested a refund for the repair (I didn't dispute the callout charge). They refused to give me a refund, despite the evidence that they misdiagnosed the problem. Dishonest, terrible people.

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. A really bad experience. I called this Company to try ti fix my toilets but the actually make it worse. Plumber left the job incomplete saying that I need to change the Macerator as was not working well. They Just left me now with a broken toilet and not able to take a shower as this seems blocked too when It was working perfectly before. Funny story? YES, as at the end I have to pay more then £1400 for a job not done properly. They wasted 1 hour just to fix the wrong toilet. After milions of calling and sending emails their final answer was that is not their fault and are not able to help me even if I do have 1 year guarantee. PLEASE AGAIN, STAY AWAY FROM THEM.

Avoid at all costs. I did not need a new boiler for £2800; I did not need a new pump and fan costing £1450 PLUS PARTS and then PLUS labour. Luckily I’m not stupid or vulnerable as my boiler was fixed for FREE by the insurance company HOMESERVE when they reopened on December 28th. The faulty part was a circuit board (cost of £200 if buying). My boiler is A1 perfect, does not need replacing and doesn’t need an opportunist messing about with it! DO NOT USE!! Ever!!!

I organised them to do some work and then read all the negative reviews and cancelled the work. Unfortunately, I had already given them my bank details. I then get a message from my bank saying that my card had been declined while someone was trying to us the details to buy a pay as you go card! Thieves

AVOID! Extortionate rip off Dire experience following a callout to ‘Plumbers in Putney‘ (South Star Plumbers). Problem was a faulty stopcock valve which had cut off water supply to flat. Their callout out fee increased from £ 79 to 149 (£179 with VAT) being early Saturday evening but was said to cover small repairs. Plumber went off to get replacement valve which took 40 minutes. He returned to fit valve (cost £15) and repair took him 20 minutes; he indicated that the job hadbeen uncomplicated. Before plumber’s return with the stopcock valve I received an email direct from the Company outlining charges: £1219 inclusive of VAT! (£ 867 for the repair plus callout fee £149); Parts were extra. I rang the company in shock at this extortionate charge which I told them I could not pay. When plumber returned it was stated the callout fee £ 179 had to be paid and I would still need to pay more to get the repair done elsewhere, to restore water supply . I was then offered and accepted in my huge predicament, a reduced fee of £ 798 inclusive of repair and callout. I additionally paid the plumber £ 20 in cash for the valve /VAT, to avoid further inflated costs. The total I paid of £ 818 represents gross overcharging by company, out of all proportion for the job, and there appears to be manipulation in producing an even higher initial, extortionate charge. I was asked to make payment was to ‘ Southstar S/S plumbers’, the umbrella company for ‘Plumbers in Putney Ltd ’ incorporated in 2020 . My cash payment of £20 was never acknowledged by receipt. Subsequently noted there are many negative internet reviews for ‘S/S plumbers’ mentioning extortion, overcharging, scammers, conmen and thieves etc and to avoid this company. I also realised that the company that I should have approached, ‘Putney Plumbers’ has put out an internet appeal to not confuse them with SS Plumbers and their subsidiary. From my experience as of others; Do not fall victim to this plumbing and emergency callout service. Avoid, avoid ‘PLUMBERS in PUTNEY/ ‘SS( Southstar) PLUMBERS’ Watch out for fake positive reviews with this company.

They Are a rogue company that should be avoided like pest. On a Saturday night emergency call caused by our boiler packing up, they charged £250 to send an engineer within two hour who arrived after 3 hours. He then looked at the boiler and asked to check our email. In the email they asked for £289 per hour from then on as the problem wasn’t ‘minor’ as per the first quote. We chucked them out. Don’t call them.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS - SCAMMERS Plumber did not understand the issue despite it being explained. Tried to charge me 250 an hour (ave is 80 for a plumber). Would not leave my house until i paid the call out fee of 82.50. Made me fee really uncomfortable and was trying to take advantage of a stressful situation.

Needed an emergency plumber for a leak. They said on the phone he would arrive between 2-4pm (I rang 11am), never showed. Rang again and they said 5-7pm, never showed. Rang again and told I would have to wait until the next day. I said this was an emergency and someone had to come the same day. Finally they agree for someone to come at 10pm. When he turns up the source of the leak was quickly established, however the length of time to resolve the issue was easily 2 hours and no more. However, plumber took his time extending it to 3 hours. This incured me a further £250 per hour charge. When I came to pay the company tried to charge me for 4 hours when the plumber had only been at the property for 3 hours (2 hours of work time if I'm being honest). After agreeing with the company to pay for 3 hours, I finished up paying roughly £1000 for a job that could have been done a lot quicker and more efficiently. Would not recommend. AVOID.

They haven't fixed the problem but charged us £450 for nothing and told they will come to fix it the next day for additional £130. We didn't have water for 15 hours. We hired another plumber who fixed the problem within 10 minutes. Don't waste your time and money with South Star Plumbers!

Do NOT book these people. They came and tried to do extra work that wasn’t required. Broke part of our toilet and got feces all over the floor. I asked him to leave my house multiple times and he refused, he antagonised us by telling me he was leaving then took 10 minutes slowly packing up his stuff while I stood there and filmed it. They are con artists. And didn’t fix a single thing but I still had to pay £400 only after I said I wasn’t paying the original £650. DO NOT HIRE THEM, the worst experience I’ve ever had!

Do not trust these plumbers. They will not tell you true rates, they do not keep you informed on what they are doing, they do things they don't need to do and they run up the clock. Very unpleasant. At least what they have done seems to work. Feel very scammed. Avoid.

All I needed was a new kitchen taps fitted and I supplied the taps. I called this company and agreed to the extortionate call out fee of £149 and £189 per hour as It was a Saturday. My little boy, 10, has leukaemia so I needed the house ready for when he came out of hospital. The 'plumber' didn't have a clue what he was doing and kept stopping to ask me. He wanted to rip out the plumbing just to be able to install new taps. This cost me £647.90! he said he would return the next day to finish the job. We had no water. I cancelled because I was a the hospital with my little boy then called another plumber who installed the new taps in less than an hour and cost me just £102 which included putting back the plumbing the previous 'plumber had removed. South Star Plumbers are heartless thieves.

Hello, they didnt show up at all, i paid 110 gbp upfront, when i call them they are just saying they will come ,' one second let me check and call you back' i think they are a big scamming operational company making money in an easy way. Someone should call the police or sue them. Look at all these reviews honestly

EXTORTIONATE PRICING. FALSE CLAIMS ON THEIR WEBSITE IN REGARDS TO FAIR PRICING AND NO CALL OUT FEE. DO NOT BE DUPED. I called an Emergency Plumber, they arrived and sent an email asking me to accept the fees of £189+VAT for a call out fee and £348+VAT per hour. In comparison to other company quotes, this price is more than double the going rate. Additionally, their website states that for Emergency Plumbing services they don't take call out charges. These people are crooks and will try to extort money from you by any means possible. Very aggressive, forceful and rude. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELVES AND DO NOT USE.

Terrible. Quoted me 220 pound/ hour for a leak. I refused the quote and paid the call out charge. Wouldn't leave the house until the money has been transferred into the account

Absolutely awful! Called because my sink was uncontrollably leaking this morning and the engineer wouldn’t even turn the mains water off before being paid, apparently “company policy”. Left my house soaking and then had to pay a £298 cancellation fee because they wanted £1980 UPFRONT before doing anything. Useless and left my rented house full of water and mess. DO NOT USE

horrific experience. simple job to unblock a toilet, my daughter had put some wipes down it. cost £351. pricey, but hey! however the next day the toilet started leaking. no seal! called the office everyday for 2 weeks. told someone will call me back. no one did. refused to send another plumber. said the 1 that did it needed to fix it. he said twice he will come the next day and never showed up! had to call another service to prevent damage. shocked by this! disgusting service, caused more damage

Awful experience, charged me £1,400 for two visits, wouldn’t leave until I paid, when I argued about poor service they shouted at me and had the plumber take the part out. Claim to have 24 hour service but after the plumber came to address the cold water not working in my flat, told me I had to speak to management directly about ordering the new part as the plumbers don’t do that. Emailed them on three consecutive days asked them to order the part with no response, then it was bank holiday weekend and it took them 3 more days to get the part. Took no responsibility, sent me the wrong invoice overcharging me on one occasion, send you chaser emails for invoices you’ve already paid, slow service, charge extortionate rates and rude and unapologetic on the phone. Will never use again.
