Glad you like your unit, received it quickly and have it working. I am curious though, what could have been better? I ask because you only rated us 4 stars. What could we have done to have earned a 5-star review?
“This unit was for a typical 2 bedroom apartment where the old tank type leaked out of the old one into a crawl space. Opened up a lot of space and allowed for room to access the damaged areas under the old unit after we installed the new one.”
“I had a problem with the wireless function of the Rheem recirculating pump and Tankless Depot corrected the problem quickly, which I really appreciated.”
“Better then I expected. I got the outside unit so that I don't make a mess inside when cleaning out yearly. My wife loves the extra space this unit gave her (cabinets) room. I called and talked to staff and they were very helpful. Very satisfied with this unit and my plumber said it one of the best on the market. So yes I absolutely recommended it to anyone who is considering getting one.”
“I had my Rheem tankless water heater installed. Natural gas bill went from 32.00 to 8.00. that's enough to know that it's better than my old water heater with a tank.”
“The tankless water heater we bought is great, but the recirculating pump we got with it was unnecessary. I wish we were given a little more information about how little we would need it when we called to talk to someone about it. Now it's been installed for a couple of months and I have only used it once, and that was just to test it out. It works, but we haven't needed it at all. The tankless water heater does a great job without its help.”
Recirculation pumps are an accessory that recirculates water through the system so you do not have to wait for hot water. They are nice, especially for people with showers and things a bit away from their water heater, and in the colder months, but they are by no means a requirement. Anyone who calls and asks us about recirculation pumps prior to their purchase would be told exactly that. I am glad to hear you are enjoying your tankless water heater and the pump is working well when you have activated it. I am sure you will get more use out of as it gets cooler out, and wish you would have called and spoke with us prior to your purchase.
“Ordered 5 indoor tankless units - went to install them and one was an outdoor unit and had to be returned. The replacement arrived but it was missing the hot water valve assy. Now they are sending a replacement that they say doesn't match the other 4. Doesn't really seem like a good way to do business to me.”
Hello Butch, I am really surprised to read this and see the star rating. I don't know why you would say these things. There was no outdoor unit that had to be exchanged, and you have never sent any emails or calls about missing valves. I know there was some confusion with the three units that were shipped direct from Rheem, and you had to schedule an appointment for their delivery, but that was it as far as hang ups go. You got 5 commercial units at the best possible price. The picture you show shows they are all received in good condition, installed and working properly, so I am not sure what happened to upset you, but if you send me an email and let me know what is going on I will do what I can to resolve it.
“We have not been able to get this unit working yet. The information did not say that this unit requires a 3/4 in gas line, while the old water heater only needed a 1/2 gas line.
The information did not contain the information that a new large 4" hole needs to be cut into your roof for a larger exhaust.
The information did not contain the fact that you need a new sewer drain for the condensate from this unit.
It will take years to recover the extra cost for all this extra work and plumbing. If you think that installing an instant hot water heater is easy and will save you money.
THnk again.”
I am not sure who is doing your installation, but there seems to be some confusion. First, all Rheem Natural Gas and Propane units will get enough gas pressure off of a 1/2" gas line or larger. It is a 3/4" connection at the unit, but will get enough pressure from a 1/2" line.
In regards to venting I checked your order and you bought a high efficiency condensing unit vented with regular schedule 40 PVC Pipe, either 2" or 3" pipe for both the intake and exhaust depending on the vent run. You ordered the concentric vent kit for 2" PVC pipe, so I am assuming you knew what you were ordering, but the concentric vent is a concentric, so it allows for both intake and exhaust and a single 4" whole out of the sidewall or ceiling. If you were using 3" PVC the concentric vent would be 6" diameter.
In regards to a sewer drain that is also not necessary. All natural gas and propane tankless water heaters will have some condensation. You can use a drip drain, but you can also use a drip line that runs to the dirt or a collection system such as the tankless water hater pan with CPVC connector that can be included with the unit. Lastly, all of this information about venting, gas line and everything else is clearly stated on the product page, and spec sheet. We are also happy to answer any questions someone may have prior to their purchase.
I checked our phone records and we have never received any phone calls from you, not before or after your order; nor have we received any emails with questions, or concerns. I am glad you left this review so that we can help get them resolved. That said it sounds like most of your concerns are misunderstandings. You may need to find a more qualified installer as again a 1/2" gas is OK, you bought the vent kit that requires the size exit whole you have described, and you do not need special drain.
