“Absolute rip-off of a company offer silly money for watches to buy .and put the prices up on the watch when you’re interested they tried to be slippery but caught them out .p*ss takers”
“I was offered £18,000 - £20,000 by Watchfinder for my Patek Philippe watch but I received several offers of £30,000 or more elsewhere . In my instance Watchfinder were not remotely competitive.”
“Just had a valuation from this rip off company for my Breitling, New and Unworn purchased in Oct 21, they offered me less than half of the purchase price.
Obviously they consider the people that make the mistake of dealing with them are just gullible fools ?
DO NOT BUY A WATCH FROM THESE SHARKS AS THE PRICE THEY PURCHASED IT FOR IS PROBABLY 50% of their asking pice ??
OR EVEN LESS ??”
“Lied and deceitful when valuing my watch not once but twice. Didn’t tell me it was a limited edition and yet advertising it as a limited edition with an extortionate mark up. Ripping the public off as well. Terrible terrible company. Do not ever use.”
“They offered me half the price of what they were selling identical models for. I felt cheated, when I complained they said we have to make money. So whatever they offer you be prepared for them to sell it for double their buy price. Back street traders in my opinion. Don’t sell them your valuable timepiece believe me you can do sooo much better !”
“i both more then 1 watch, in the years, I was always a happy customers... today I-m not.... try to part exchage with a watch wort almost 15000 euro.....the say after inspection.... first estamation 7000/7500 euro...... your kidding..... I felt I was being taken for a ride, it almost seems as if those who want to sell have an extreme need for money, that without them, they can't feed their families, plus having proposed the watch as a basis for exchange... they would have made their profit on the 3 watches I wanted.... I can understand that they would have offered me something less, perhaps with a difference to be added, on my part.... but to offer me half the value...is a mockery and as such.... this is the consequence of my not positive review, yes I was a customer first, very satisfied, now I am a customer first, lost, not happy and offended.
goodbye”
“I ordered a watch worth several thousand pounds. It arrived and within about 3-4 months the bezel fell off. I told Watchfinder and they took 2 weeks to ask me to send it back with the box and papers. The watch took over 6 weeks to be repaired (I understand this part) but then they sent the wtach back withouth the box and papers and just told me I hadn't sent them in. I explained I had, and that I wanted a replacement watch with box and papers (without the box and papers the watch is worth far less if I decide to resell it) but they just refused to do anything about it. Appalling customer service. DO NOT USE WATCHFINDER.”
“They are a greedy lot that's for sure. Bought a watch off them for £1600 two years ago. they've gone up in value so now they are selling the same watch for £2000 on their site. I asked how much for them to buy it back from me....£800-£1000 depending on condition! so you know that means £800. As others have mentioned on here they buy low and sell high, huge mark up so most likely preying on the desperate. Unimpressed thought they'd be better.”
“Despite being a customer many times they are very arrogant and greedy. I wouldn't buy another watch from them. Even got called buddy on phone. Arrogant stuck up idiots”
“No response to email for selling my watch . After second attempt they made a absolutely insulting offer on my 2019 submariner . You couldn’t go out to buy this watch ,what they offered. Offer was £8,350. But they sell it for £13250 on there website. AVOID. Totally greedy lot.”
“They are a joke! Tried to purchase a watch via my credit card and it was initially declined due to fraud (pretty common thing) so I made contact with Discover and they cleared the transaction. I got an email saying they couldn't process the transaction and wanted a wire transfer. I am not comfortable sending a wire transfer to an international company. I asked them to re-charge it on my card and they said they would not. I completed all the necessary steps on my end but they refused to charge it. Why offer credit card as an option and then make the customer pay via wire transfer? This process is a complete scam. They just want their money same day and don't want to pay the credit card fees. Unbelievable.”
“I have previously been a fairly loyal customer to Watchfinder. However, I recently sold an Air King 5500 back to them for £2700, which I had previously purchased from them in 2018. I then found my watch being sold on their website for £4400.
That's a ridiculous markup and just plain greedy that they didn't offer me more for the watch!
They did not return any of my telephone calls and in the end I got this email from them...
" Good afternoon Adam,
I hope this email finds you well and thank you for bearing with me.
I have raised this matter with both our purchasing and sales manager, as the final price has been accepted and the payment has been made, we would not look to edit/increase this I’m afraid.
The purchasing manager would however like to offer £500 off your next purchase of £2000.00 or more as a gesture off good will, providing you are happy with this I will arrange for this to be written up and sent to you
Look forward to hearing from you.
Kindest regards
Luke Johnston. "
Why on earth they would think I would ever buy a watch from them again beggars belief. An absolute bloody insult!
My advice is to avoid them and use Chrono24 or Burrells.”
“They buy rediculously low
They sell rediculously high..
Sometimes they ask more then retail for 5 year old watches from brands that dont hold their balie.”
“Avoid at all costs!!!
Awful company l sent my Rolex to them with the intent of selling. However l didn’t accept their offer price.
They have sent my vintage Rolex back with the bracelet unattached, with two separate pins in a small plastic bag??? I don’t even know if everything is there to attach it back on, or not?? I was wearing this watch before!
I’m going to take this further. Completely appalled with this treatment.
What company returns a watch in this state?”
“My partner bought me a Rolex for my birthday which should have arrived on Dec 5th. Unfortunately Royal Mail seem to have lost the packaging which was stressful at first but watchfinders assured us that they are insured so we don’t need to worry and that we could have a full refund. After confirming he would like a refund my partner has been trying to get his money back and has so far had no success. They explained on the phone It wasn’t a problem and the refund would take 3-5 days, but nothing yet. When ever he calls he is passed around from department to department saying ‘someone is handling it’. As you can imagine it’s a lot of money which we are currently out of pocket of, and with no watch. It is causing us a huge amount of stress as a family and we really hope we can resolve it soon. I would like to believe that things are perhaps taking so long due to staff shortages and Covid, but we have had little explanation as to what the hold up is. Really hoping it can be resolved soon so that we can move on as it is causing my partner huge amounts of anxiety.”
“Let me start by saying I have previously ordered three watches from watch finder before and have always been very happy with my purchases.
The watch I have just received was a different experience altogether
With numerous issues,
1. The watch I received arrived too small with no spare links in the box, after contacting them I was told they had adjusted it and forgot to put the link in, the did send out a new link
2. The biggest issue I had was, the box and paperwork I received were not for the watch, a blank guarantee card, manual and box for a different watch, if I had bought it from eBay I would most likely have accepted things like this but when paying a premium to buy from a good 2nd hand dealer this is not what I expected
3. Since contacting them I have now been messed around with no real foresight as to weather they are going to do anything or even care, I have been asked to send photos and waited 3 days now to get some kind of reply.
I ordered online which is probably my downfall as if I had been in the shop I would not have bought it and I urge other pot buyers to do the same
I put my trust in watch finder as was made a mockery of so far.”
“Just bought a rolex explorer 2 polar from them. The watch is great but did not return all the links to you. The bracelet supposed to fit 7.5 inches wrist. After their adjustment. The total length did not add up to 19cm. At least 2 links were missing . Honesty is important in on line business. Where is your integrity but greed.”
“I sold two watches to this company. Direct sale, under bid, on my watches. Web site shows in writing once you accept their offer to buy your watch(s), payment will be wired to your bank account in 3-5 Business days. As of November 13, it has been over 10 Business days and NO PAYMENT, JUST EXCUSES, RUN AROUNDS. AFTER MULTIPLE PHONE CALLS AND EMAILS JUST " ANY DAY NOW SIR". WATCHFINDER SHOWS TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS HERE AGAIN. SINCERELY, NO MONEY HONEY”
