Hi, Thanks for taking the time to review us. As previously mentioned, What you’re seeing is likely due to some of the fluting becoming slightly crushed on the edges during production. Corrugated cardboard gets its strength and thickness from the wavy, arch-like middle layer (the fluting) which is glued between two flat liners. When this fluting is compressed—most often along cut edges, flaps, or creases—the board can appear thinner than expected. This effect is usually limited to just a few centimetres from the edges, and the main body of the board should still reflect the correct thickness. For the most accurate check, we recommend measuring the thickness across the central panel of the box, where the fluting remains intact and wave shaped. For the style of box and the length you ordered, the fluting isnt at its strongest (your box was over 50cm) we would recommend for this size of box purchasing an 0201 ALT or 0203 for extra strength when constructed, or ordering in double wall which is 6mm thick. “I’m so sorry ASC .. I wouldn’t normally leave a bad review because we know a company runs on them….. 🙏 Been using these for a while now and thought we found the perfect company for all our boxes really nice strong boxes at a good price… all of a sudden the boxes have gone from a nice strong C FLUTE 3.5-4mm to a B FLUTE 2.5mm and very flimsy and the price as also risen for a cheaper box 😔 we are now stuck with our last order of 100 large boxes that are no good to us … I did call the team and spoke with a lovley lady and was told they could order the C FLUTE cardboard in at a extra cost What I don’t understand is if the box quality as gone down why hasn’t the price.. but want to charge us more for the boxes we had been receiving on our past orders I’m sure the photo tells you how much the quality as dropped I find this such a shame”

Hi, thanks for taking the time to review us. What you are observing is likely due to minor compression of the fluting (the central wavy layer of corrugated cardboard) during production or packing. Corrugated board gains its rigidity and apparent thickness from this fluted layer. Along cut edges, folds, or flaps, the fluting can become slightly crushed, causing the edge to measure thinner than the nominal board thickness. This effect is limited to a few centimetres from the edges, and the central panels of the board will still reflect the correct 3mm B-Flute specification. For the most accurate measurement, thickness should be checked across an undamaged central area rather than near creases or folds. Over the past 12 months, the cost of raw corrugated board has risen by around 20%. This is due to a combination of factors including shortages in raw materials, rising energy costs, and higher labour costs across the supply chain. With further increases expected in 2025, switching to B Flute helps us keep our prices as competitive as possible without compromising on quality or service. Our own production costs have also increased this year as with most businesses. There is currently only one UK supplier producing C Flute board that meets our standards. During late 2024 and early 2025, that supplier experienced significant supply issues, leaving us days away from running out of raw material for single wall boxes. By moving to B Flute—available from multiple suppliers—we ensure a consistent, uninterrupted supply for our customers. Until recently, ASC Direct was the only online manufacturer offering C Flute for single wall boxes. Most manufacturers use B Flute as standard. Aligning with this standard allows us to maintain faster lead times, better material availability, and consistent quality that meets or exceeds industry expectations.

“These guys used to be good, we've used them for over 10 years. The last order required chasing to get it despatched. This order was placed on the 1st october, and as of today the 23rd, it hasn't been delivered and the company can't tell me when or even if it will be delivered. They've gone from being a reliable supplier to a total shower. I've found a new supplier and won't be using them again.”

Yes, we messed up your order, our suppliers were delayed in getting stock of the white board we required to make your boxes, which meant we were late in delivering. We have reviewed our processes internally so customers are better informed when there is delays.

“There is an issue with shipping that requires addressing. No details are forwarded of the shipping code after an order is placed, which leaves customers in the dark, so it is impossble to check the tracking for shipments to see approximately when a parcel will be arriving. This, in todays modern updated shipping world where time slots can be given by the hour by other companies is not really what woud be expected from a company like ASC”

“bespoke box's not the same quality they used to be. Just spent over £1800 on 2 recent orders, small box's are fine but the larger may as well been the single cardboard and the extra paid for the "double" 6mm it doesn't come as described unlikely i'll buy again as they don't care”

“I use to use this company to make different size bespoke boxes for my small business. I would make repeat orders for the sizes that I needed but realised the sizes weren't accurate so would increase the size to compensate so my items would fit. My last order was still too small and when I contacted the company I was repeatedly ignored. I won't use this company again. There's plenty of others that provide a better service.”

“I have used ASC for a few years now, and have always had bespoke box sizes made, without issue. I recently purchased some stock size boxes and upon receipt found them to not be the measurments stated in the description. This was queried and it was arranged for the correct size to be sent. These were sent but are exaclty the same as before. Plus they are very thin cardboard in comparison to the bespoke boxes I purchase.”
