“Sure as hell wished i had never opted for this gas bottle supplier, they have all the adverts going for them but when it boils down to the truth no one stocks or wants to stock thier bottles. in short i do not want to travel 30 miles to get a refill or pay your over the top delivery rates! and remember they dont refund your original bottle deposit,, i am going to turn mine into a mini wood burner as i have paid good money for it...”
“Flogas
We took out a new contract with Flogas for the supply of LPG in December 2020. We had agreed a fixed price for LPG for the first 12 months and a maximum price for the year after. A standing charge was also agreed at 22.18p per day. That standing charge was increased to 27.65p per day last September. We have just received a letter advising us that as of October 19th the standing charge will be increased to 41.47p per day, an increase of 50%.
When I phoned to ask why, I was told that all costs had gone up including deliveries and tank maintenance. I pointed out that we had not had a delivery this year and that we had not had any maintenance or inspection of the tank, therefore there was no justification in increasing the standing charge. They disagreed.
I decided to call them pretending to be a new customer and was quoted 56p per litre and a standing charge of 21.9p per day, 19.5pence less that they want to charge me now!
My LPG is on a fixed price of 42p per litre until the end of December and there is nothing Flogas can do about that as it is contractual. However they can increase the standing charge but not by more that 50% per annum. It would seem to me that as they can not increase the gas price, they have increased the standing charge by the maximum possible to compensate for the fixed LPG price.
I do not believe that the costs have gone up by 87% in 20 months and I would imagine delivery costs are included in the gas price especially for those who have multiple deliveries a year. We have had 2 deliveries and not maintenance or inspections since December 2020.
Lets not forget, they have offered me LPG at 56p per litre and a standing charge of 21.9p per day, less than it was when we took out the contract!
This is so obviously a money making exercise and as they can not increase the LPG price, they are increasing the standing charge. The letter informing us about the increase mentioned the wholesale cost of gas and that we should remember that the government has agreed to a £400 payment and that we may be intitled to an additional £100. So that makes it ok for them to grab some of it.
I have informed Flogas that I do not understand the increase and that they have failed to justify it to me. I have also told them that I will not be paying the increase and that they may take me to court where they will have to justify the increase in public. Flogas pointed out that the increase stands and that if unhappy, to complain.”
“My experience with Flogas is that they are totally useless at delivering gas cylinders - they do excel in taking one's money but that where any semblance of efficiency ceases. I have only placed two orders with them and on both occasions one needs to spend hours on the phone chasing deliveries. Promises are made and not adhered to. I have just cancelled my second ( and last ! ) order after waiting in on three days for promised deliveries. They are a fine example of how not to run a business.
Avoid doing business with Flogas”
“FloGas have effectively trapped us in a contract that we now cannot get out of, using small print that is ambiguously worded and not highlighted or discussed anywhere in their sales / renewal process. Industry-standard notice period is 90 days - however Flogas issued us a contract that apparently requires 12 months notice starting on the last day of the contract period. So what was 'agreed' with the rep as a 2 year contract was deceptively actually issued as a 3 year contract, even though I specifically asked and negotiated 2 years due to changes in our business. I'll be pursuing this further under misselling / unfair contract law as this practice is unethical, and in volatile times denies a businesses the freedom to shop around.
Flogas prices are also certainly not the cheapest available. Other providers are quoting 20p per litre less, but will understandably not hold that price whilst we serve a whole year's notice period, when the industry standard is 90 days. So other than taking the risk of canceling without another provider secured to move to, FloGas have effectively trapped us and are increasing prices knowing we cannot leave.
Beware of this shark-like sales tactic. FloGas are not a business that I'd recommend, our rep didn't reply to my negotiation when I had a more competitive price - I now understand this is because they don't need to once they have us trapped!”
“Disgusting service, disgusting customer service. I have tried to take my name off the account and put in the new owners name for 6 months. everytime I ring them they tell mr this has been sorted then still send me the bill. now new owner (3 children under 3) can not order any more gas (she has no gas left, no heating and no hot water) until I pay the bill. they will not let her pay it as her name is not on the account!!! we are going around and around in circles. and they will not change name on the account until I pay her new bill. WHAT A COMPANY!!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE 6 MONTH LATER AND STILL CAN NOT GET ANYTHING CHANGED OVER!!!! NOW THEY HAVE CANCELLED HER AUTOMATIC REFILL SENSOR ON HER TANK (WHICH IS WHY SHE HAS UNKNOWINLY RUN OUT OF GAS)”
“Being a commercial customer I would not expect to run out of gas because it puts the business at risk and the jobs of my employees if I can’t trade
I have run out 5 times in the last 3 months and am 2 days away from running out again. Unbelievable!!
Their super telemetry system is useless or maybe it’s the people who monitor it or maybe both. If they gave me a delivery every 10 days I would never run out but they just can’t get this into their thick heads. The rep doesn’t seem to care and the customer relations department make promises the don’t keep.
The whole company seems to be a disorganised shambles.
Trying to get through to somebody in management is impossible. I have asked for telephone numbers or email addresses but nothing is offered.
I have been with flogas for many years. It was great for the first 6 or 7 but they have hit an all time low over the last 3
I spend about £12,000 a year on gas but will be spending it with another supplier shortly”
“Avoid this company. Use Calor or anyone else. You are on auto fill and then they do not deliver. You then notify them and they still do not deliver. They do not answer the telephone and their email service to contact them is 'undergoing maintenance'./ More like they do not have enough staff to answer the complaints they have. An awful company with abysmal custom service. AVOID AVOID”
“Flogas charge extortionate prices if you have been a long term customer as I was. They tricked me into paying almost double market rate for being out of contract plus credit control never reviewing my direct debit meaning I raked up over £1200 in debt in the last 12 months in addition to the £100 i paid each month, I debt i had to pay off with a credit card. I spoke to credit control who said I had they forgot to review my account but whilst it was their mistake, i still had to pay. Oh and now my price per litre was 47 pence plus vat so >50p.
This is 20p more than other competitors were offering. I have paid the debt and switched saving me £250 on my first delivery from Avanti.
Don't give these people your hard earned money.”
