Hi Lorraine,
Thanks for crediting our serivce, we're sorry your shoes didn't fit. We see that you've already returned these, just drop us an email via sales@ids-danceshoes.co.uk if you would like a little help with that for next time.

Hi there,
Thanks for taking the time to leave your comments. On fit - thanks for the info. The recent shoes (Heather Full-Sole in Black Calf Leather) were correctly ordered in the same size/fit as the previous order (Heather Full-Sole in Beige NotCalf). Few things that might make this make sense:
- when comparing with older shoes, that have been worn, they'll have likely stretched out a lot over time, making the newer pair feel tight
- fabric differences also might give a slightly different feeling: the Beige NotCalf is a very soft non-leather whereas the Black Calf is a natural leather
- noting on the order that the shoes were made where you add your own orthotic insoles in and this can create a difference in sensation too when you put on a fresh pair, as your previous pair with your added insoles might have stretched out even more
But - it is better to feel a little tighter than the other way, because they'll give a little for the most optimum in comfort and we hope that becomes the case.
On delivery, we give an ETA of 10 working days and the order was placed in the evening of the 24th May, sent on the 4th June which is quick - the 6th working day from the order being placed :)
Thanks for ordering with us, and for taking the time to review us.
Many thanks,
International Dance Shoes
“Love the brand but now it's WAY too expensive. Customs (import) taxes then local taxes then delivery kills it. Final amount is 200+ €uros for a pair of contra pro :(”
Hi there,
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review and we're glad you love us and our shoes. We really hate the impact of Brexit, believe us. In terms of a breakdown though, you're not paying VAT to us, that is part of the collection of the local taxes. Before you would pay our VAT and it would sail right through however now you pay excluding VAT, plus the shipping, then all should be due on arrival is the payment of the local VAT. The shoes are made in the UK so under the rules of origin, there shouldn't be any duty, just VAT and perhaps a clearance fee (which is tiny in some countries, a bit more in others, but it is always worth querying anything when you make a payment as sometimes clearance fees can vary!).
Thanks for choosing our shoes and we hope that the experience has not put you off forever.
Merci,
International Dance Shoes
“The shoes are great and confortable, I really like them. Very helpful customer services, when I had to exchange for a larger size. My only gripe is when exchanging the same shoe for a different size having to pay postage again. What with paying to return then and twice for delivery, it made the shoes very expensive. For that reason, I probably wouldn't purchase again.”
Hi there,
Thanks for taking the time to review us and we're very happy you really like your shoes and our service. We wish we were able to offer free postage and returns for exchanges but sadly, it's not something that we can afford to offer. We're not the biggest business and we're very much a family business and offering free return postage would probably do more harm than good as that's what the footwear business is like sadly! Shoemaking in the UK is very expensive and unfortunately, we can't do it. We offer free postage on orders of £140 and if one day we can do more in terms of returns/exchanges, we will always try our best!
Many thanks,
International Dance Shoes
“This is the second time that I have ordered an "in stock" pair of shoes only to be advised, after I have paid, that the shoes were not immediately available. On both occasions I would have ordered a different style if I had known they were not actually "in stock" as I needed both for an immanent competition! We did receive an apology & a free gift but I would have preferred to have had the shoes! My friend has also had the same experience! Shoes were great when they arrived!”
“I have ordered my second pair of men's contra pro shoes. This model features the suede sole extending up the inside of the instep to allow for use of the inside foot. My first pair were patent and the suede started peeling off very quickly on one of the shoes. I sent it back to IDS who very helpfully re-stuck the suede sole but this didn't last for long. I have had to replace this pair as, although there is plenty of life left in the shoes themselves, the unstuck sole on the instep leaves a very ragged and shabby look. I ordered a second pair. This time I opted for Nubuck in the hope that the weld between sued sole and Nubuck instep would be more reliable than between suede and patent. Sadly, I have danced in the shoes twice and already there are indications on one of the shoes of the suede coming away from the Nubuck on the instep. This is such a pity because in other respects the Contra Pro is a wonderful shoe to dance in. If it were not for the problem mentioned above, I would have no hesitation in recommending it unreservedly.”
“I'd been thinking of getting some proper dance shoes for a while but wasn't sure whether IDS would make them wide enough for my very wide EEE fitting feet plus bunion. Two friends recommended made to measure shoes from IDS which they were very pleased with. However, on my recent visit to IDS I was very disappointed to discover that they had recently decided to stop making shoes to measure. So, I ordered extra wide which fit reasonably well but how I wish I had visited earlier to ensure a proper bespoke fit. I am used to wearing ill fitting shoes and having painful feet as a consequence. The IDS shoes are more comfortable than the M&S wide fit shoes I had been wearing before but they are still slightly too narrow due to my bunions - hence only 3 stars. Please, IDS, would you consider making made to measure again? This would be a dream come true for me, and others I'm sure.”
“Because I have a very round shaped food with halux valgus problems I chose the wider size. The shoe fits around the ball of the foot, but it is still to sharp in the front. when I am dancing I fell that my toes are compress too much! I got again an inflammation of my big toe. I dosen´t fell comfortable to dance with this shoes I miss the feeling that I am standing on my small toes! Please make them wider on the top too! Please!!”
“I’m in the US, so I think that may affect my experience. When I was trying to place the order for the shoes, I couldn’t find the difference between the widths on the site so I had to email. The reply didn’t come in time so I ended up ordering the wrong size and now I have to send it back for an exchange. Shipping to and from the US is very expensive and I ended up spending almost double the price of the shoes with the back and forth.”
“I love the shoes. They are very comfortable, however the bottom of the heel is falling off in under 1 month and I had to have them fixed ( I have only worn them on the dance floor).”
“These dancing shoes are overall wonderful. The fit is true to size and they're wonderfully comfortable. However I cannot feel good about giving them higher than three stars because even though I paid over $100 for these, after less than a month of usage, the suede on the heels is already falling off. I'm incredibly disappointed because the rest of the shoes are phenomenal.”
“Beautiful shoes, so soft and pliable. Love the easy fasten buckle too. On the downside, they took almost 4 weeks to arrive, meaning I couldnt wear them for a couple of the occasions I’d hoped to. Also, they do feel a little on the snug side, and because I dont know what they’re made of, I’m not sure if they’ll stretch. I'm reluctant to pay to return them, and then pay another £5.63 for a pair in the next size up - which might not fit and might take another month to arrive... So I’m going to gamble on these and keep them. I guess we’re all so used to H&M etc who do it all for free and so quickly - I’ve got spoilt!”
