“The chicken breasts are delicious! My only 2 complaints would be the delivery both times was longer than 2 days and a couple of the breasts were slightly defrosted and the 2’nd problem is when defrosting the breasts the bags leak.”
“We loved our pasturebird order! Everything came on time, well-packaged, still frozen, clearly labeled.
Only downside was that 2-3 of our chicken breast packages were ruptured, so we weren't comfortable with eating those. That was a bummer, but we understand that these things can happen in transit!
Thank you!”
“The chicken was delicious (whole rotisserie chicken and chicken breasts)! My only complaint would be the packaging on the chicken breasts. All of the packages except one were not properly sealed so when you let them thaw out, it makes a mess in the fridge. We ate them within a week after receiving our order, but I would assume that if not properly sealed and frozen for some time, they could get freezer burned.”
“I think this chicken tastes very good, much better than the organic chicken I was buying which was what I thought was the best I could find in my local supermarkets.
I wish the packaging was airtight. It leaks when it thaws. I'm uncomfortable with the fact that the packaging has holes in it.”
“I have ordered chicken from Pasturebird at least 3 times already. I trust these chickens are truly raised the way they are meant to be! When I make meat broth the broth gels each time!! There is a rich flavor you don't get in chicken store bought. I will only purchase from Pasturebird. Always!
The only negative thing I can say is that there is no customer service when you place an order. I purchase meat from other out of State farmers. So, I can compare. Pasturebird has never sent me a personal email to acknowledge or thank me for their support like the other farmers do. I get their newsletter of promotions and that's it. So, that's my only comment to what can be done better.
We appreciate their mindfully raised chicken so, I'm eating food raised the right way. I'll always get chicken from them! Thanks guys!”
“Hello,
We like the chicken, and I am happy to have this option over supermarket chicken. I like the sales and take advantage of those when I can.
The only problem I have is that the wrapping in not air tight. This causes the chicken to develop a freezer burn. And, it causes a problem when I want to thaw the day of use in cold water, which is what I usually do. Now I have to start thawing at least a day in advance.
Thank you, Carrie Kent”
“We ordered from Pasturebird but, did not try the Chicken Breasts right away. The truth being we were so burnt out on the big box, hormone grown, turkey sized, rubber chicken breasts. That changed last night preparing for a Super Bowl gathering. The chicken flesh was a beautiful health pink. It did not have white line or freezer burn.
The product cooked up amazingly well and had a great flavor. It was completely gone after the 1st past by the food table. The only issue I have was the number of small pieces of trim that was in the package. Not sure if that was done to make an average weight or not. Full breasts are easier to plan dinner around.
We’ll be back,
Mark Roberts”
“My package received after 2 weeks I order. Most of the chickens were fully frozen but few of them start melting from outside. I like small portions so, each bag is packed by a pound. I ordered cut chickens and a whole chicken. I havent tried the whole one. The chickens have yellow fet and I like it. Until now I cook 3 times, and the last time I noticed a different smell more like a chemical or something not nice but not sure this is from chicken.I boiled couple minutes and then changed the water. I will pay attantion on next one.”
“My gifts of half-spatchcock and a whole chicken to out-of-state family members were a hit! One will star as the centerpiece of a birthday dinner, another a learning experiment in cooking a bird that's flat (aka butterflied), not fat. What would have made the gifts better? A card enclosure with a short greeting from the giver, and a recipe to go with the chicken. After all, lots of people pack their freezers with chicken breasts and don't know the basics of roasting. Thanks, Pasturebird, for getting them started.”
“I find the spatchcocked chickens could use a little more meat. If you let them live a few more weeks, would that increase the size?
I do appreciate your method of raising them. I buy them for that reason. But I will stick to buying breasts as they provide a juicer stir fry, roast etc.
I don't understand the reason why they differ in size.”
“I've had the chicken two meals now, very tasty! I will be reordering! There was a hang-up (Fed Ex fault) & teh Pasturebird team reshipped a new order very quickly, The second box was a little smooshed too but teh chicken was still very frozen inside, good to go!”
“My first time ordering and I was very pleased with the taste & texture of the thighs & breasts. My only suggestion is that they make the packaging vacuum sealed, it leaked all over my fridge the first time I defrosted it. So be sure to place your pack in a container or zip bag while defrosting. I’ll will definitely order again.”
