“I will never take a pet to the vets to pass away again. Rest Your Paws is the most beautiful way to farewell a pet. We contacted them 3 years ago when we knew the time had come to let our 19yr old dachshund go. It was heartbreaking but sooo peaceful for our little boy. They were the first people we called when we knew it was time for our lovely old cat to pass. The vet is always so compassionate and caring. We lit candles and kitty passed so peacefully surrounded by her family in her favourite place. When the time comes this is the best and most peaceful way for your pet.”
“I contacted RYP yesterday and spoke to a beautiful lady, Chloe, she was wonderful. We organised for a vet to come to my place that day. Chloe's beautiful caring and compassionate nature was very comforting. In the afternoon Dr Gosnia arrived, what a beautiful lady, she brought Macca's for my gorgeous Greyhound, Harlow. Everything was explained to us, it was the most peaceful time for us. Harlow drifted off to sleep, after her chicken nuggets and cheeseburger. I cannot thank you all for the care, respect and compassion you showed us. I highly recommend RYP if l could give 10 stars it wouldn't be enough. THANK YOU”
“I had very tough decision to make re when it was time to help my 14-year-old staffy, Wigglet, cross the rainbow bridge. Lauren guided me so well, with her recommendations but never imposing. When I felt it was time, cos her arthritis was obviously causing her more and more pain and she was already on the highest pain med regime, plus other therapies, Lauren came to our house and was so sweet, gentle, loving and patient, with both me, my daughter and Wigglet. 100% recommend!”
“I was worried about my boy Wilson being put down as I thought it would hurt him but these wonderful people put me at ease and Wilson was allowed to go across the rainbow bridge in peaceful surroundings i can't thank everyone enough you are angels from heaven the way you looked after Wilson and me . My God bless all of you ❤️ ❤️❤️”
“I would not recommend anybody going through this company not only did the vet not communicate I was not sent a message stating that they were running late so they had to send another vet which only gave me a few minutes with my Dear Boy instead of one hour like it was planned before the cremation Place picked him up you guys robbed me of my last hour with my boy how dare you the vet that did come with very compassionate and I do give her gratitude but the company itself I do not recommend whatsoever”
“We want to thank the team at Rest your Paws for the prompt, compassionate and caring way they helped us when we had to make the heartbreaking decision to put our amazing Harry cat to sleep. Dr Janet talked us through the procedure, noting that during which his eyes may remain open, she was so gentle with him (and us) and when he left us, snuggly wrapped in the fluffy bed, we felt that we had made the right decision for all. I was also impressed with the follow-up from RYP to check in that we were ok afterwards, noting how devastated you are after you lose your pet of 18.5 yrs! We cannot recommend them more highly.”
“From the first phone call everyone was so compassionate and lovely. They absolutely went above and beyond to make my beloved giant dog's last moments incredibly peaceful. All sorts of little touches went into treating him (and me) with the absolute dignity and care. I highly recommend this service.”
“Thank you Dr Fiona and all at Rest your Paws.
You made our beautiful Ruby slip into a peaceful sleep in such a calm way, so caring and passionate to all the family’s sadness. Allowing us to have as much time needed to say our goodbyes. Ruby left our home so peaceful in her bed, blanket and favourite toy.”
“Today we kissed our dog Pepper goodbye with the help of Tracy. She was so kind and understanding. I couldn't have wished for more peaceful and beautiful way for her to pass. Tracy talked us through every part of the procedure and was so calm and took her time to help us cope with what was going on. Thank you so much Tracy.”
“I feel it is important to write about my experience with Rest Your Paws Brisbane so that others can make an informed decision.
My staffy was admitted to animal emergency on 31/12 and I was given some terrible news. I made a booking with RYP for home euthanasia on New Year’s Day but later decided not to go ahead & contacted RYP to reschedule at another time.
I cared for my dog at home until 7/01 when it became obvious that he was in extreme pain. I arranged for RYP to perform home euthanasia that same afternoon. Customer service and the vet assigned – Dr Tracey displayed compassion, empathy & kindness.
However, things did not go smoothly as my staffy – Buddy had to be sedated 3 times in order to relax him & I can’t be sure that it did as his eyes were opened throughout the entire process. At the initial booking my staffy weighed 20kg but on 07/01 Buddy weighed only 18kg. Assuming that the amount of sedation required is measured by weight than the correct amount of sedation should have been administered once only and not 3 times.
When it came to locating a vein to administer the anaesthetic, Dr Tracey was unable to locate a vein on both of Buddy’s forearms & a leg although it was clearly apparent that a cannula was injected into Buddys’ arms both at his Vet & at Animal Emergency. Dr Tracey was able to administer the anaesthetic through a vein in Buddy’s abdomen?? Altogether Buddy was poked with a needle about 7 times (3 for sedation, 4 to locate a vein) when it should have been only 2 times if a more experience or competent person was performing this task.
Dr Tracey did advised that the difficulty in locating a vein was due to Buddy’s low blood pressure as a result of the tumour in him. I am not convinced as both Buddy’s Vet & Animal Emergency were able to locate a vein on his forearms which I witnessed.
My neighbour who was present during the procedure also expressed her unhappiness at the way it was conducted.
To have to euthanise a pet in itself is traumatic. To have the procedure NOT go smoothly is truly upsetting and no amount of explanation can justify the trauma felt and I can’t even imagine how uncomfortable my poor boy must have been. Buddy did not look relaxed during the process, on the contrary he looked scared with eyes opened even in death.
Also, concerning is the fact that the RYP team is listed only by their first names on their webpage which can be perceived as unprofessional & lacking transparency as their qualifications & experience cannot be verified.
I hope the above information will be of some use to anyone who is unfortunate enough to have to consider home euthanisation for their pet.”
“The lovely Amy came to help us say goodbye to our beloved Gussy dog on Saturday 26th October 24. She made us feel so comfortable with the experience and really let us take our time in saying goodbye. We would highly recommend Rest Your Paws”
“It’s always difficult saying goodbye but the way in which Emma has taken on our enquiry, kept us updated and when Sarah arrived to assist our girl, we knew she was in safe hands. Sarah’s gentleness, kindness and the way she guided us thru this difficult process meant Koda’s passing was dignified, and as hard as it was, it was done with upmost respect. Thankyou so much , couldn’t recommend Rest Your Paws any higher for their care and service.”
“Dave and Chandra are very caring and kind. This is such a hard thing to go thru but they are right there to help. Thank you for being there as I completely fell apart.”
“Having finally made the gut wrenching decision, we reached out to Rest Your Paws. They were kind and compassionate and always prompt to reply. Dr Tenelle was just beautiful with our little Jazzie. She had special treats and passed away with the ones who loved her. The candle, paw prints and fur clipping were also done with respect and I am so glad we did that. Thankyou so much.”

“Our gorgeous Charli cat gave our family so much love in the 16 years since he was first adopted by us. Our last heartbreaking day with him was made peaceful and so special as we said goodbye at home, on his favourite couch and blanket . We were given plenty of time to hold him, with candles and soft music playing. The vet was incredibly compassionate and let us have all the time we needed to talk to our boy and give him final cuddles and allow our dog (his best friend) to acknowledge him. It was a day of many tears, but also absolute relief knowing Charli went peacefully surrounded by so much love.”
“I can't recommend Rest Your Paws enough. Our beautiful Evie had a brain tumor and the incredible Dr Cindy came out to us on a Sunday with less than 24hours notice, saving us from having to take Evie into the car & a cold clinic for her final moments. Instead she was able to pass in her favorite place, in her favorite fluffy bed with her entire family around her, being comfortable & feeling loved. I'll be forever grateful that I called the lovely Tori & she was so helpful with arranging Dr Cindy for our Evie.”
“Thank you very much Dr Paula for your compassionate professionalism today with helping Rosie to the other side. You are a credit to Rest Your Paws and yourself. Thank you for being so kind.
We appreciate the way that you helped Rosie.
Thank you.”
“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making the most difficult day of our lives that much easier.
From the initial phone call you were kind, compassionate, understanding and just willing to sit on the other end and listen to us cry.
And on the day we were blessed with the beautiful presents of Winnie, who said from the get go, there is no time limit, I am here for you as long and you need and until you are completely ready.
You had a genuine care for our boy Sprocket and once our boy crossed the bridge we appreciated you sitting with us while telling you stories about our boy while you gifted us ink paw prints and his fur.
You made a very difficult time at a difficult time of year that more bearable and we are forever grateful!”
