“We ordered a rib of beef as the centrepiece of our Christmas lunch. It was, without doubt, the best beef any of us had ever tasted. Did it with a dry rub of brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper, surrounded by quartered big Spanish onions. Cooked to medium. Superb!!”

“Poor service - poor quality - poor everything Requested 2kg beef shin to make a Bourginion over Christmas for family meal. Asked for the meat to be cut as I don’t have the equipment at home to deal with it. Was half way through the prep and it came to adding the beef. I cannot tell you how awful the meat was. Full of gristle, pieces the size of sausages, tough skin on every piece, it was just impossible to make the meal, so I had to resort to something from the freezer for that evening meal!! I had sadly expected my meat to be superior to Tesco, having it trimmed nicely for eating in the old fashioned butchery way, but I would have had more success with Tesco. On complaining to Salters, firstly I was told that what I had received was actually not acceptable and they would refund. Then we were told on a separate chase up call ‘the boss said we don’t give refunds’. Tesco would have refunded without quibble for the sake of their good reputation. Buyer beware what goes into your bag!! Grossly disappointing!!”

While it’s true that we’re a small team and the lead-up to Christmas was exceptionally busy, we value every customer and will strive to ensure this doesn’t happen again. We’re equally sorry to hear that the beef shin you purchased was not up to our usual standard. We would always offer a refund for a product that fails to meet expectations, and it seems there may have been a mix-up in our communications about this. If you purchased the item from our shop, please do give us a call so that we can resolve this for you straight away. “A smooth and efficient experience from the website to the delivery. There was great care in the preparation and packaging of the products and even a call to check how I wanted some of the meat prepared. Knowing the source of the meat is paramount to me and given the personal, professional service I will be ordering again in the future. Thank you.”

“Ordered 3kg porchetta joint. It arrived as expected. Cooked as follows: 36 hours uncovered in the fridge on a rack. In a tin on a rack in the oven. 20 minutes at 220. 3 hours 10 minutes at 150. Internal temperature reached about 70 deg. 30 minutes at 250 for crackling. 35 minutes resting under a loose sheet of silver foil. Very delicious flavour, very good crackling, a bit left over to eat cold. Fantastic value and quality.”

“First time buying from Salter & King. We ordered 6 wild Sussex rabbits. They were quick to apologise and advise they only had 5, refunded as necessary, and the rabbits were quickly despatched, and arrived very well packaged to keep cool. Couldn't fault them.”
