“BOUGHT AN RAC830 The Ring Website is as good as it needs to be, good enough product descriptions and easy ordering with free delivery in under two days, and I got a welcome discount, thank you! I bought the RAC830 for a number of reasons and one, because it had the longest (3.5 meter) 12v power lead, BUT unfortunately it is not long enough for me as I have a LWB Sprinter and from the 12v socket in the cab to the rear tyre, the lead is about 1 meter short of the Air Hose adapter being able to reach the Tyre Valve if rotated toward the rear of the vehicle. I will have to buy an extension for the power lead as will anyone else with LWB vehicles. As with all these things, the packaging is far too small for the item itself, it came in a good carry-case but the 12v cable was knotted up to make it fit in the case which was unnecessary as it wraps around the base of the unit perfectly with an insert for the 12v plug itself, I spoke to Ring Tech about this and they assured me that the kinking of the cable wouldn’t affect the performance, and it hasn’t! This is probably why the 12v power lead length is limited to 3.5 meters because if it was any longer it wouldn’t fit in the carry case, which needs to be larger to accommodate a much longer 12v power Lead (say 5 to 6 metres ideally) for Long Wheelbase Vehicles like campervans, motorhomes, caravans, minibuses and vans, it is claimed to be ideal for. Not with a 3.5 meter power cable it isn’t and I’m surprised RING don’t offer an extension cable for sale, I cannot see one listed on their website? I think it is also worth pointing this out to buyers, as there is nothing to worry about… After setting the correct tyre pressure and starting “the inflate”, the auto-stop went on for a while before stopping displaying up to 2PSI above the set pressure, varying on each tyre, then when the auto-stop eventually activated, the gauge read up to 2 PSI below the set pressure, which seemed problematic, BUT when I checked the tyre pressure with my hand gauge, all four tyres were perfectly at the right pressure I had set, so no worries just confusing but accurate anyhow. I spoke to Ring Tech about this and they assured me that the tolerance of around 1 to 2 PSI is to be expected of any pressure gauge and that seems a very fair observation to me. I have only used it twice now and it is a great piece of kit, well-made etc., but it’s annoying that I had to pull the car up alongside the Sprinter to plug the power lead into the car 12v socket so I could reach the rear tyres on the Sprinter. Don’t be caught out, buy a 12v power lead extension!”
