We were too far away to have a showroom experience and thought we were being brave by ordering solely from online images. “Fabulous service and fantastic furniture! Having thoroughly researched the UK for a quality British settee we travelled the two hours to inspect what this Company had to offer. Warren was amazing, and a mine of information, with years of experience, guiding us on best solutions, giving great advice so we could make informed decisions. We had taken photos of our room and measurements, so Warrens handy tape measure was useful. The settee and chair were delivered today, the Company made us extra scatter cushions and kindly took the time to refilled an old ‘grandad chair’ seat cushion so every piece of furniture was tip top in the room. “After an excellent discussion or two covering options, changes, etc. with Warren, I decided to purchase Sterling Antique Leather Chesterfield sofa and two Dorothy Wing Chairs Antique red. Warren kept me informed of progress and the delivery was earlier than expected which itself was done with care. Also, the sofa feet were changed on delivery and look better aligned with the chairs. “I bought 2 Huxley sofas, a Huxley chair and an Atticus corner unit. I was worried at first, ordering online without seeng them ! Warren was great- he gave me invaluable advice from design , colour etc. I was emailed every couple of weeks with an update on the making of my sofas , which was great. My sofas and chairs were delivered and placed in the correct area by 2 great delivery guys. The sofas are beautiful and I am so pleased with them. The craftsmanship and detail is wonderful. I would say to anyone not sure on ordering online with this company- definitely go ahead but do ring them as , as I said before, their advice is invaluable.”
“Having spent many months trawling the big stores and online for a new leather sofa, I finally opted to go with S. W. James. This was the best decision I have ever made, from requesting the leather samples which arrived very quickly I could see that both the quality and colour of the leather was way better than any other I had seen. Having dogs this was essential. My next concern was would the company have a sofa that would fit through the very narrow front door and hall of our Victorian terrace, after many emails, measurements, photos and phone conversations with Warren I felt reassured that my choice of sofa (Atticus corner sofa) should fit. The Order placed, I was kept informed of progress through out the build process the front door / hall way and were quickly in place, however the corner section of my new sofa objected and try as the delivery men might, it refused to fit through the front door, it was a couple of cms too wide. As you can imagine I was gutted, however a quick phone call was made, and the corner section was dispatched back the workshop to be adapted, at no extra cost. Two weeks later, S.W. James’s Dispatched Neil on the lengthy journey back to Kent, to fit the now adapted corner section. Any concerns were very quickly dispelled it slid through the door and was fitted to it counter sections with in minutes. Whilst it has been a bit of an extended journey to get the sofa of my dreams, I am more blown away by the quality and look of my new sofa than I could have imagined. If you are starting out on you new sofa search I can highly recommend S.W. James, I can honestly say from personal experience they go above and beyond to ensure that their customers feel valued and receive a quality leather sofa that is unbelievably comfortable. I think you would hard pushed to find a company who will proved the same level of service, care and attention to detail. I’m so impressed that I am now considering purchasing a wing chair and footrest. My only regret was not living closer to the factory/ workshops, to be able to go and visit their showroom. “We researched a number of suppliers of leather chesterfield furniture throughout the UK and decided on the manufacturer, S W James. This was based, in part, on the information on their website, which included extensive and detailed reviews. In addition, we initially had a long telephone discussion with Warren Kinsey, the co-founder of the company, which has a long and distinguished history in the manufacture of leather (and other fabrics) furniture. During the conversations, Warren discussed all aspects of the whole manufacturing process. as a result, we actually bought two green antique leather sofas (2-seater) and one seater. Over the time it took to make the furniture (about 8-10 weeks), Warren kept us informed (by email, text and phone) of how the furniture was progressing and what was being done. At all times, we were confident that the sofas and chair were progressing well. The furniture was delivered from Macclesfield to Edinburgh on time and fully informed of the delivery, which was also to a high standard. We are absolutely delighted with the sofas and chair, which are of the highest quality. Cannot speak too highly of the friendly, helpful expertise from start to finish.”
“After lots of research on handmade quality furniture there was simply no other company to match SW James. We travelled for 3 hours from Sunderland to Bollington to visit the showroom. We were greeted by Warren who was very welcoming. All of the sofas are beautiful and ooze quality, we decided Huxley in vintage grey was for us! Warren was very helpful explaining the process and even measured out the size of our living room so we could truly visualise how things would look in the space. We were kept up to date at different stages of the build. Our Huxley 3 seater , snuggle chair and footstool were delivered a couple of weeks ago and they are amazing, they are so comfortable and luxurious.
