I ordered Kiln Dried Hardwood Logs - Max Crate 900KG The firewood was lovely, the price not unreasonable but the service was very poor. The order confirmation email states 'When your order reaches the local depot (within 2–3 days), our Haulage Company will contact you to arrange delivery. ...We aim to deliver orders within 3-5 working days of receipt'
I was never contacted to arrange delivery. Five days after paying for my order I contacted The Coal Shop and was told delivery could be arranged for Monday. I was not given confirmation of that delivery date despite my emailed acceptance of that day, not contacted by the delivery company, and the delivery didn't arrive that day.
It ultimately took 10 days for delivery. That wouldn't have been a big issue if I'd ever had communication about the order.”
“My coal order was instigated Mon 12th and 1/2 tonne briquettes delivered Mon 19th - a full 8 days from Stoke to Southport ; a poor delivery service.
Canal barge transport could be quicker -Stoke - Middlewich - Shropshire Union - Beeston, for example, then motor haulage to Noth West & Cumbria sales.”
“Burns well but there's about 1kg of unusable coal dust in most bags. The dust fills a large dinner plate (see photo). So I'm paying for 19kg per bag instead of 20kg. This adds if you buy in bulk. I bought 1.5 tonnes (75 bags) of which was about 75kg was coal dust. That's about 4 bags of unusable dust which should have been coal. If you compare prices with other online suppliers, remember you are getting less coal per bag.”
