“Great value for money when bulk buying. Newburn seems to burns well. Delivery driver was extremely helpful and phoned when reached my address.
My only disappointment was I was promised an email on day of delivery with an estimate time of delivery which I didn’t receive! Subsequently I was out when my coal was delivered after waiting in for some time.”
“Online ordering process was straightforward.
Coal arrived 4 days later well packaged and of good quality delivered to my driveway.
However the local haulage company never contacted us to arrange a delivery date. When it arrived I was at the Doctors and my wife was just leaving the house. 5 minutes later nobody would be at home to accept delivery.
Therefore I can only award 4 stars.”
“Decent price but took 7 days to arrive, but I guess there was a bank holiday involved.
Staff friendly and helpful on the phone. Only slight annoyance was that they dropped the price by £20 bw order & delivery. Other than that a good service and have already recommended to a friend.”
“Always happy my only bugbear is you can no longer place and pay over telephone, ok for me but what about all those that are not tech savvy or don’t have smart phone or computer”
“The delivery was quick lorry driver great as trolley broke had to hand move all. The coal is NOT low ash as loads of ash also not as hot as our old coal.”
“Easy to use and very easy to order through. Not their fault but the delivery company that is delivering the coal loaded a ton of coal on to a truck with a tail lift with no means of off loading it. Supposed to be redeluvering it and put at the end of the drivers trip two days wasted waiting for it.”
“The only problem that I encountered with this company was their reluctance to provide an ETA for the delivery. When pushed they told me that the delivery would be made before 12.00 Noon, which was better than no ETA at all. The delivery took place at 10.30 Hours, which was within the indicated parameter.
The company, apparently, fails to realise that failing to provide an ETA is sending a message to their customers that the time of the company is more important than the time of their customers. A common modern failing.
The coal seem, on a brief examination of one bag, s to be of a reasonable quality. I may use this company again, if, on closer examination, the coal proves to be of a high quality.”
“The coal is excellent as always - the only disappointment was the delivery. No forwarning of the delivery other than a call when driver was five minutes away. Was just about to leave for a weekend away only to have a metric tonne of coal dropped kerbside. Having to move 50 x 20kg bags of coal at the age of 75 was not what I'd planned especially knowing I had a three hour drive ahead of me. Not a Coal shop issue nor the drivers but lack of communication from delivery company!”
“My only complaint is that I was not notified that the delivery was on its way. This meant that I was not at home when the delivery arrived and my wife was left to accept delivery.
She was not best pleased and wanted to know why I had ordered ‘so much b&£@!y coal!
I’m sleeping in the coal shed!!!
Thanks”
“Generally a good experience let down marginally by the independent courier. A delivery window between 0800 - 1700 is too long to be waiting in all day & I had to ring twice to find out when the delivery was scheduled. But, to be fair, the Coal Shop rang the courier & then rang me back. And hey presto, within 30 minutes it arrived! The wood came in a big sack on a pallet & was covered in an inverted plastic cap - well prepared as the weather was foul on the day of delivery. The wood is mostly birch, cut into good-size pieces & dry, ready to go, & a reasonable price. So, on the whole, I would recommend the Coal Shop, just maybe their delivery schedule might be broken down to say AM or PM.”
