“I love the glasses, but l don’t feel able to give a very good score as they took so long to arrive. I even had to chase them to see what was going on with my order. I ordered them on the 13th of January, and finally got them on the 11th of February.”
Hi Jan,
Thank you for your feedback, and we’re really pleased to hear you love the glasses.
I’m very sorry for the delay in delivery. Unfortunately, these glasses were out of stock when your order was placed. We emailed shortly after purchase to let you know, and then again to confirm an expected lead time of around 10–14 days while we waited for the new stock to arrive.
We always aim to be as transparent as possible when an item is temporarily unavailable, but we understand that waiting longer than expected is frustrating, especially when you’re looking forward to receiving your order. We appreciate your patience while we obtain fresh stock and fulfil your order as quickly as we can.
Thanks,
Wineware
“This was my first order with Wineware. Their prices are good and they had the glasses I wanted - Riedel Ouverture. I'd previously wanted some Riedel Vinum but Wineware insisted on using a very expensive courier to get to my location (northern Scotland) - even when my order was above the £50 "free UK delivery" threshold. That's unacceptable.
Wineware seem to have revised their delivery policy and used much more reasonably priced Royal Mail / Parcelforce. However this is only for small orders - under £50. For orders over £50 (which are still advertised as "free UK delivery") Wineware still want £15.95 to be sent by courier (with no cheaper Royal Mail option).
Any glassware is going to be fragile and I hoped that a company dedicated to selling glasses would be diligent in their packaging. Wineware were - a very secure and well-padded box.
Overall reasonably happy. Should I need a small order (under £50) I'll re-order and accept the £6.95 delivery charge. But to advertise "free UK delivery" on orders over £50 and then try to charge me £15.95 when I get to the checkout stage is simply not acceptable.”
Dear Richard,
Thank you for your recent order and for taking the time to share your detailed feedback.
Firstly, we're delighted to hear that you were pleased with the secure packaging and that the Riedel Ouverture glasses arrived safely.
We want to clarify the delivery charge you mentioned. The additional £15.95 fee covers the extra costs incurred by our courier for deliveries to certain postcodes, including yours (IV7), which are classified as part of the Scottish Highlands by the courier network. Unfortunately, this area falls outside of our Free Mainland UK zone, and as such, the free delivery threshold doesn't apply. The selection of postcodes classified is shown on our Shipping & Returns pages to help avoid any confusion at checkout.
We understand that this can be frustrating, and we continually review our shipping options to offer the best balance of cost and service, especially when handling fragile glassware. We're glad the smaller order shipped via Royal Mail met your expectations, and we’ll continue working to keep our delivery charges as fair as possible.
Thank you again for your order and for bringing this to our attention. We hope to serve you again in the future.
Kind regards,
Mark

“No issues with Wineware, but I am disappointed in the cost and quality of the product I purchased: a wine box. Feels cheap and nasty and questionably how secure. Feels expensive for what I received.”
