“Stats: 5'9" 220lbs, muscular. I am a medical researcher and spend a fair amount of time in my chair for the last 2+ years. Overall I like the chair for the most part. I never felt it was AMAZING from the start. but it is decent. The arm movements are great as I can lift them and get them out of the way if necessary. The seat is reasonable but not overly comfy. After 2+ years it's definately not as comfortable. I use the recline feature multiple times a day and I really like that part. The issue that started a few months ago is a loud creeking sound when reclining. I shot a video and sent that to customer service yesterday. We will see how that is handled. In the end, I would have spent more for a better long term solution. I am looking now for a replacement and this will be a guest chair in the office.”
“It is a very comfortable chair. It seems to provide support in all the right places. The seat is the most comfortable of any computer chairs I've tried.”
“I'm very pleased with this chair. Came on time, easy to assemble and had all the parts in the box. I have used it for hours and it's extremely comfortable. Overall I'd highly recommend it to anyone.”
“Assembly was easy, my husband did it all on his own in like 10 minutes. I was suffering from severe sciatic issues and within a couple of days using this chair I no longer feel the ache/burn!!. The seat is super comfortable and I most enjoy being able to recline. Quality appears good and I think it will last a good long while.”
“I bought a BTOD Akir chair in July of 2020 when I realized the COVID lockdown was going to have me working from home for a while. I spent $525. This is considered a "mid range" chair because the top of the line chairs are over $1,000. Still, I expected much higher qulity than you get in the $100 - $200 chairs that are always on sale at Office Depot. At first I was happy, but I think these reviews would be more informative if people wrote them after they have used the chair for more than a week or 2. I have been using this chair every day for 9 months and its performance has changed over time.
The good: Very, very comfortable seat. I chose this chair because of its extra padded seat. It has held up and has not flattened out or gotten hard. The upholstry material is cool and has enough texture to prevent you from slipping forward in the seat.
The seat position is adjustable forward and back to a greater degree than most chairs that have this feature. I am not tall and have relatively short legs so it was important to me to be able to adjust the seat depth so that there is some space between the back of my knees and the edge of the chair seat. I have used many other chairs where this is a problem for me so the *degree* of seat depth adjustability is feature I only used once, but it makes this chair the most comfortable I have ever had.
The bad: The frame is very heavy and is mostly solid metal so you would think the build quality would hold up. Initially the operation was very smooth and it was quiet. Now 9 months later almost any move I make or adjustment of my position causes squeaking, creaking and popping sounds. I have tried to tighten any screws or bolts that are accessible, but the rocking mechanism is now very annoyingly noisy and not smooth.
I got the adjustable arms and this was a mistake. They fold backward so that you have no arms in your way if you want, but I have never really needed that. Now, whenever I grab the arms to adjust my position I have to compensate for the fact that any backward pressure will cause them to fold. I should have stuck with the stationary arms that you can lean your weight on without them folding out from under you. The arm height is adjustable, but you have to push a button to get them to move. This is good and I wish the arms would be prevented from folding back unless you unlock them with some mechanism.
The upholstry material is scratchy against bare skin so if you are wearing something that puts your legs in contact with the seat material (like shorts when working from home in the summer) you will notice this discomfort and have markings on your legs when you stand up.
Overall, better than the cheap chairs, but if you want top of the line performance you will have to pay top of the line prices.”
“This chair is amazing! One of the most comfortable office chairs I've ever sat in. You don't have to spend a thousand dollars + to get a great office chair. I would definitely recommend.”
