“Overall, I'm very pleased with the refurbished Leap v2 from BTOD, but 2 things keep me from giving it a 5.
First, the unit I received has a relatively minor scuff that makes it clear it was refurbished. This is to be expected, but I had hoped for a "œlike new" chair after reading some of the other positive reviews. Either way, it's hardly noticeable and not a huge issue.
The other minor frustration was that the mechanism that goes between the chair and the chair base (and makes the chair height adjustable) was defective. I worked with customer support (which was excellent) to troubleshoot. When they determined that the piece was defective (and not installed incorrectly) they overnighted me a replacement part so that I could replace it.
While I wouldn't have experienced these minor frustrations if I had bought the chair new, it's hard to justify paying $400 more for a brand new chair. Overall, I am quite pleased with the BTOD refurbishing.”
“Before ordering I watched the video on the refurbishing process. This chair was recommended by an employee of BOTD/friend in another state. The chair was delivered a week before confirmation date. My neighbor said it was easy to assemble because it was in two pieces. It is a very comfortable chair and is an 8+ hour chair with a 12 year warranty. A very good investment in your body.”
“A 1200$ Quality chair for half the price. The color selection is great and it feels really comfortable to sit in for an 8 hour work day. I'd highly recommend btod's refurbished Leap v2s, they really care about the product they're sending you. No way you can tell it's refurbished.”
“This is the 3rd Leap chair I've bought. It was for my daughter to facilitate her working from home in her new job. My wife and I were very happy with ours. Product and order fulfillment were great.”
“All in all the chair is good, and I think BTOD did a good job refurbishing it. Everything functions well, no noticeable wear or smells, and there are no creaks or pops in the chair. It was packed well, and assembly was easy (add piston to base, add chair to piston. Done). I would have liked to see more color choices offered (I would have picked a green, probably), but the grey looks nice enough. At half the price of a similarly spec'd new one, the refurbished chair is a very good value, considering what else is available at this price point. (why are office chairs so expensive?!)
My negatives with the chair are to do with Steelcase's design, not BTOD's refurbishing of the chair.
I found that the arms of the chair do not go quite high enough for my torso/arm length, so I find myself leaning one way or the other when I sit. I'm 6'3", and this has been a regular issue for me with office chairs. Outside of that, I was able to adjust it to a good ergonomic fit.
I also don't like the mechanism for the horizontal adjustment (width, pivot, and depth) in the arm rests. It's too loose, so they get moved out of position easily. I always have to fiddle with the arm rests to get them back into a comfortable place. You can see it in the BTOD review videos, where the reviewers are subconsciously playing with the arm rests while they talk.
It's also a concern for a person who leans on the arm to help them sit or stand. They will slip out of place, and could potentially cause a person with poor balance to fall. If there was a way to increase the friction or to lock the arm rest position, I'd likely have given this 5 stars.”
“I caught wind of BTOD through YouTube and their excellent content comparing high end office chairs. I actually watched a massive amount of their content while I was shopping for a new chair from the big brands. They had become my top resource and everything I found and considered, I was curious what their opinion was. When I finally discovered that they offered refurbished chairs of the model I was considering, it was game over! I even made a mistake on my order, and Janet helped me quickly and efficiently! Excellent customer service and swift shipping. VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER!”
