The teacher was very friendly and informative, there was enough time for her to help everyone who needed it. She even tried to help me fix the machine that I brought with me. After learning to use the machine we learnt various seam types and how they apply to making clothes. It was a thorough beginners course. Would recommend!

The class was so good! I had never used a sewing machine before so the hands on teaching in a small group was really beneficial. I brought my sewing machine that I had recent got as a gift but plenty of machines were provided. Susan was very knowledgeable and informative and the class was a good balance of demonstration and practicing the techniques ourselves. We covered quite a lot, and it was hands on practice starting with winding the bobbin and threading the needle then moving on to different types of stitching including straight stitch, reverse stitch and zig zag stitching. We practiced creating a lot of elements used in making garments like different types of seams, creating a dart, sewing on a curve to create a pocket lining, making a facing for a neckline, sewing a concealed zip and and different types of hemming. Susan also covered the basics of using patterns demonstrated how to make a button hole and gave a lot of contextual information about how clothing is made in the fashion industry. I found the atmosphere relaxed and friendly and I left the class feeling confident using my sewing machine and thirsty for more sewing! Susan also followed up with an extensive list of further learning and resources which was great. I would highly recommend this class
