Dip your toe into the creative world of sewing with this beginner-friendly workshop in London. This class is aimed at absolute beginners and those with basic skills who would like to learn how to use a sewing machine and learn how to sew and achieve a professional finish. It's suitable for those wanting to make or alter or upcycle their clothes. You may wish to sew as a hobby or become a dressmaker.

You may be a student wishing to gain skills for college or have aspirations to go further as a professional. The course is intensive, and you will learn a wide range of sewing techniques to start making or altering clothes in a short space of time. You don't need any previous experience. Class numbers are 6 maximum, and you will receive lots of 1 to 1 help. Machines are provided, or you can bring your own. All materials are provided.

What you'll learn
- What to look for when you’re buying a sewing machine
- How to choose the correct needles and threads
- How to wind the bobbin, thread the machine correctly, and adjust the tension
- How to sew basic stitches, make an open seam, a closed seam
- How to finish raw edges
- How to sew edge stitch and top stitch
- How to sew curves and corners
- How to make and attach a facing
- How to sew a simple dart
- How to insert a concealed zip
- How to make a turned hem
- How to make a machined buttonhole.

I loved the class. Sus is an amazing teacher and a very inspiring woman. I would love to take a second class with her. She is patient, kind, and I feel she gave us very useful tools to work with and keep practicing.

It was an amazing session with Susan . She was so patient with all of use and such an amazing teacher . I was very pleased with all the sewing knowledge I have gained now . I definitely recommend and fashion students who wants to learn sewing skills or getting back into sewing do this class . Susan has inspired me with her story and her knowledge.

Fabulous day. Perfectly paced. Our lovely instructor made sure everyone was comfortable with the content and checked in on our progress. Really great day, learnt heaps and came away with heaps more confidence about my sewing.

4.5/5 A great intensive class for students with absolutely no prior knowledge. The teacher is also super friendly, patient and helpful, and has a wealth of experience. Knocked off half a star because it doesn’t feel worth £110 but more £70/80.
