“Perfect Brew all the time. I got my first kombucha kit and i was worried and in a way very sure that I would kill it the first time. I was presently surprised when my first time out everything worked perfect. I will see that I didn't know that in the very first day it will birth to a little scoby so when I saw a waxy layer developing at the top, I scooped it out and throw it away. and I now have two mature scoby and I am brewing more than I can consume and my friends are looking it.”
“Quick Starter, Quality Packaging. The truth is you don't need this. You can get started with brewing your own kombucha with just a bottle of non-flavored kombucha bought at your local store. That said, the process of starting your own scoby from a bottle of kombucha will take considerably longer than using a purchased starter like this.My experience with this product was a positive one. I didn't want to spend 4 to 5 weeks building my own scoby from scratch, so purchasing a ready-to-go starter was right up my alley. As busy as I am, I trade money for time quite often and that's the proposition here. This pack was perfect for starting a 1 gallon (or 4 liter) batch. I brewed up my batch of sweet tea, put this in and had significant pellicile growth within a couple of days. I had my first batch complete primary fermentation within a week and it was delicious after a fruited bottle ferment. I had done my research and had the right tools, including a heat wrap that kept my brew about 78 degrees Fahrenheit, which helped to ensure optimal development. I'm also an experienced home brewer and fermentation enthusiast, so I'm well versed in sanitation and fermentation techniques things that helped me avoid most of the first-timer problems. The packaging of the starter was well done, eliminating almost any risk of leaking. The instructions are printed on the back of the package and they're consistent with what most "experts" agree upon. The only thing I didn't like is that they recommend using vinegar to get the pH where it needs to be. As far as I have learned, this is generally bad advice as you run the risk of turning your kombucha starter into a vinegar starter. That said, if your proportions are correct, the pH should generally be where it needs to be with just this starter and good sanitation techniques will reduce further risk even if there are less-than-optimal pH conditions. In the long run, I am still interested in building my own scratch starter, but this got me going quickly. For now, though, I intend to keep this scoby going as it produced pretty good booch. As one last comment, it's important to remember that the scoby is the yeast and bacteria, not the mushroom looking thing. The liquid is more important than the mushroom thing, which is just a byproduct of the yeast and bacteria.”
“Really helpful and easy for beginners! This is the perfect size Scoby and the right amount of starter tea for any beginner brewer! Very easy and simple to do.”
“Excellent starter. Excellent product to get booch started. We've been brewing now for about 3 months and our scobi has doubled in size. I'm ready to split the mother for a second gallon jar. It is definitely worth waiting much longer on the first ferment for better booch (3 weeks or more). Also, I suggest a secondary fermentation with crystallized ginger or passion fruit nectar to improve carbonation. We bought 8 bottles of booch before brewing and reused the bottles for our own. “Kaufempfehlung. Vorne weg: der Kombucha ist klasse geworden! Tut meinem Krper gut. Lediglich die Anleitung ist nicht gut bersetzt, knnte man besser machen. Aber nach ein paar Videos bin auch ich klar gekommen.”
“Great to start brewing kombucha at home. I successfully started my kombucha brewing at home with this starter. I have already successfully brewed 4 batches, and counting.”
