“The Explore is my first scooter and has been a blast. I use it primarily for commuting in Brooklyn, and it's been great - even in cold weather.
Anything less powerful would have made me nervous in city traffic - but the larger scooters would be too heavy to carry to my apartment. This is the perfect balance.”
“Well made, powerful & fast! We are exploring so many trails and loving the ride. Added a headlight for night rides and a left hand side rear view mirror. With a small, loud bluetooth speaker we are cruising around & having so much fun exploring! Happy with our purchase & compliment the customer service. We had a small issue and Apollo made it right. Our adult son just purchased one to get to & from work.
No registration, insurance or gas. Smart investment.”
“Very fun and fast! I'm glad i got the scooter in a fast delivery. I can't wait until spring is here so I can rip through the streets in full throttle! I will definitely recommend any one interested in scooters to give Appollo a try.
Thanks appollo team for making another satisfied customer.
CHEERS!!!”
“The explore is a real performer. The 1000w motor = smiles for miles. It has the acceleration needed to safely keep up with city traffic and rear hydraulic shocks combined with the 10" tires provide a very smooth ride. Pictures don't do justice to the size and beauty of this scooter. Best single motor scooter out there.”
“The Apollo Explore scooter was exactly what I was looking for the combination of speed, quality, sturdiness, and features. When I needed to reach out to support to understand how to change to mph, they were quick with their response. The shipping was quick also. I thoroughly have enjoyed riding my scooter for fun.”
“The first scooter showed up and was a lot of fun but it only lasted a few miles before receiving an irrecoverable error code E10 that prevented the scooter from running. The service guys tried sending a new LCD panel that did not correct the issue but ultimately they had to replace the scooter (fully stood behind the warranty). Working through that was torture because the first ride was so much fun and I couldn't wait to use it again. Fast forward 5 months and I have hit about 100 miles on my Explore with no further issues. I mostly use it for Lowe's runs, picking up a few small items at the grocery store, or grabbing takeout dinner orders...mostly 4-8 miles round trip. It is so much fun. I still look for excuses to get out and use it every chance I can.
I am about 170 lbs and it reliably goes 25 miles an hour but I have hit 31-32 miles per hour at full charge down a hill. I haven't paid too much attention but the battery seems to last maybe 15-20 miles when you run it at full speed all the time (I try not to go below 20% or so based on learnings from Tesla). The power meter seems a little iffy. The voltage drops hard when you accelerate but recovers once it settles in.
The wide deck is really comfortable. The lighting is very cool but the headlight is not very bright. For dark roads/trails you will want an additional light. For my lit neighborhood it's fine. My Segway ES4 headlight is a lot better...but this scooter is way better in every other way. The brakes work well. The regen brake is strong but be ready for the braking drop off when it switches to the discs. Be careful on wet terrain. I have almost had the rear wheel fishtail on me twice in wet or leaf/debris conditions. Stick to the front brake in those cases. I bought a full motorcycle helmet for safety but a spill would still be pretty bad. I haven't done any legitimate off roading but it is comfortable taking speed bumps, short runs through the grass to get to the next paved area, etc.
Folding is a pain at first until you break it in and get used to it (I actually scraped my shin on the grip tape folding once and bled a bunch). Then it's no problem. The weight is fairly manageable over short distances for carrying, and it does load into a car trunk fairly well...use an old, large blanket to prevent it from rolling around in the trunk.
I consulted Chris to decide between this and the Mercane. The Explore may not be quite AS cool but I am really happy with my choice for the little extra speed, higher weight rating, and easier handling (from what I understand). Compared to the rest of the Apollo lineup I feel like I hit the sweet spot for me. Any faster feels too dangerous. Any slower and I would be missing out. Any heavier is too cumbersome. More battery would be great but not worth the cost or weight. Goldilocks found my "juuuust right". Thanks Apollo!”
“It does exactly what it is advertised for. I was afraid of breaking it when pressing down on the latch, but then I just pushed hard and it folded. Being a single motor explore going uphill with my extra 50 pounds it goes down to 10 miles per hour which is fine because there are no major hills where I live in Minnesota.
For my investment it was fair amount and the quality is excellent. One of my friends had one for five years and he recommended it. However he burned his home charging it after five years. It seems he had the basic model and it seems any electric Bicycle or scooter have these issues and homes burned down: at least two in MN I am aware of. Even though I have upper level model I never charge my scooter or my electric bicycle unless I am at home next to it.
Thank you for delivering quality scooters Apollo!!!!”
