“Overall pretty good value.
Pro
Top speed averages 20. Feels well built. More stable and maneuverable than I was expecting.
Con
Brakes and acceleration aren't as responsive as I'd like. Cracks in the road at 20 mph are kinda rough. Range is more around 15 if you're going full speed regularly.”
“Did a lot of research and ended up with the Horizon. Couldn't be happier. Great for a guy weighing in at 225lbs. Would not hesitate to buy this scooter. So far every email has been answered within 24hours. Nice work”
“Have to give credit where it's due. I'm new to the scooter world but this is a excellent place to start. Not a bad way to spend $700. Glad I went with my gut!”
“For the most part I love this thing.
It's a significant upgrade from my Gotrax which was essentially a cheap beginner scooter. It goes faster, battery lasts a bit longer, has nice front and rear lights, and even folds up smaller. The brakes are solid and take very little effort to engage, which is a comforting thought when you're going 20mph. Build quality seems pretty solid. It's a little on the heavy side, but not completely unwieldy. I would've picked up the optional luggage-style wheel attachment but they've been sold out for months with no indication of a restock.
All that being said, it does have a couple problems. First and foremost, the "20ish mile range" of the cheaper battery variant is a generous estimate. Maybe if you stay in gear 1 the whole time and take full advantage of the claimed regenerative braking....but not so much in real world use. In reality, the battery ran nearly dead after only 10 miles. While not the biggest deal for me, if you have a longer trip I suggest paying the extra and springing for the better battery. Even then, you should temper your expectations a bit.
Second, my scooter in particular didn't lock all that well that first time I took it out. As in, it APPEARED to lock in place, satisfying click and all, only for me to go 3 feet before it folded on me like an accordion and had me wipeout pretty badly. After that I made sure it was firmly locked in place, only to realize later it was a little TOO firmly. I couldn't get it to fold back up without the use of a prying tool. I'm kind of torn between "not locked well enough" and "locked too well". Though I'd honestly much rather have to pry it open than faceplant while doing 20mph. I brought this up with the company, who suggested I loosen the bolts on the mechanism a bit. I haven't had a chance to do so yet, but will update if it helps. Regardless, this is not something you should have to do for a brand new $750 machine.
