“Took it for a ride from NYC (Dyckman St) to 30 Broad street (Wall street area) (13-14 mile range) and made it on one charge in 1hr , smooth ride from the West Side Highway Bike & Peds Path. Averaging a 15-22mph speed ride...looking forward to going uptown soon after work.”

“Yes, it's expensive but you get what you pay for and then some with the Mantis. Big power, big suspension, big brakes and build quality to match. Assuming the battery lifespan is as expected, the rest of the scooter seems bomb proof. I especially appreciate the stem lock - no pins, no question it's locked. The only thing you'll wish for is a carbon fiber version because at 60lbs, this is far from the 27lb - 15mph scooters. That said, this one will actually get you home and back WITH a smile on your face. Sure, others might consider you "nerdy" with your full face helmet riding the Mantis right up until you pass them sitting in traffic. Enjoy the ride!”
“Runs great! great battery power.A few slight changes...
1. Use Allen key to tighten post for safety.
2. Tape along rubberized mat.
3. Blue tape on lights.
4. Throttle extender slows slight finger movement to control throttle without extending to cause finger fatigue, at the same time allowing to fully grip handles.”
“This machine is sharp looking with a powerful with a long lasting battery . With the cruise control at all speeds even low this is an ideal machine for security work and even Police detail. The learning curve took a few rides to be able to ride this safely with a few modifications.
1. The most important modification would be precision control for the throttle. The way it is now is a little jerky with fatigue resulting from extending the finger. a small addition extender to the throttle would allow full grip on the handlebars with slight fingermovement either inside guide or alongside guide to enable precision speed control. ( see video)
2. The rubberized footcover seems to peel up around the edges as glue seems to have a hard time with metal to rubber bond. Put Black Duct tame along the the raised edge to keep from the foot snaging the tape and then over the side and under the plastic insert that screws on the side in the front.
3. The fasteners are awkward to work. Replace bottom fasterner with a hex bolt that can be snched down to totality with an allen key. The bottom hex bolt is the only surface that connects to the post so the top fastener is just used to remove freeplay for the bottom bolt. I find this even faster preparation before ride and post is absolutly snug with no worries of fastener being to loose when riding.
4. The lighting arrives with white Leds. I changed the color to blue with a smooth blue strong masking tape over leds.
5. The post is a little bit off centered with the predrilled holes. Many others with Mantis Schooters have this problem and the adjustment from either the top assemble or the bottom large hex bolt allow no free play in that direction to fix so the handlebars are not true or absolutly perpendicular to direction.
6. The Kaboo scooter seem to arrive with loose screws of which some will fall off as did my fender screw if not tightened. ONe of my front wheel screws did not tighten when I took it off I found it was glued on, and stripped not only on the locking bolt but the very frail axel threads where also. Because of the locking washers and the fact that this bolt does not bear weight I opted to JBweld the Bolt on instead of go to all the trouble to replace the parts. However Fluid Free ride seemed more that happy to help me correct the problem. They are quick to respond. I was also happy at how fast my scooter arrived . i ordered it on friday and received it on monday in California.”
