MANTIS 2025 - fluid Edition Legacy Trigger Throttle Display 18.2Ah - 33 miles range Reviews

4.5 Rating 470 Reviews
I actually had high expectations. I think it's amazing Scooter but there's a lot of room for improvement. I don't like the voltage cut while driving it with the lights on. And also while going 75% throttle and hit the break an escalation Mark displays and doesn't wanna accelerate after that until I restart the scooter.

Hi Omar - have a look at this article and video to adjust the sensitivity of the brake communication line. That should take care of the throttle cut out. https://support.fluidfreeride.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034575672-MANTIS-sticky-brakes-leading-to-motor-cut-out-throttle-not-working

Good and Expected This thing is fast! Both the acceleration and the top speed are excellent. Brakes are good. Suspension works very well The hole in the frame is just perfect for locking the scooter. The stem doesn't wobble at all Good and Unexpected The safety that requires the scooter to move just a bit before engaging power works really well. There's no diving during braking, because the front suspension's principle. The ground clearance is very good. When hauling the scooter up or down sidewalks, the underside never touches the ground. Tall + Stable + Fast = really fun for carving. Bad and Expected This is a BIG, HEAVY scooter. Only marginally easier to carry around than a full size bicycle. The handlebar is not folding. I didn't think it would be such an issue, but that makes the Mantis even more space-consuming that it should. Overall quality looks quite decent, but there's definitely some quality control issues. On mine, a bolt and nut are missing at the top of the steering column (FluidFreeRide is sending the missing part free of charge). The accelerator is a bit janky. Hard to maintain a minimum acceleration, for instance when you want to go at a supper low speed waiting for a traffic light to turn green. The front lights are useless, except for making yourself more visible from rodents. Did I mention it's BIG and HEAVY? Bad and Unexpected ----- When going over potholes, there's an annoying noise when ‘landing'. Probably the side stand. The stem is pretty tall, especially when stepping down or pushing it around.. Now for the most annoying: the stem comes already bolted to the base, but the factory did not properly align it, and put so much strength to screw it that it can't be adjusted anymore. So the handlebar is slightly misaligned with the front wheel. If the scooter wasn't so BIG and HEAVY I would have returned it.

Model: 17.5AH Mantis Location: San Francisco, CA Purpose: Commuter Battery Life: The advertised range is 40 miles on eco and single motor. Being in San Francisco, there are a lot of hills. If you are using dual motor mode on sloped terrain, expect closer to 15 miles. The battery display drops considerably when the throttle is engaged, which can be a little annoying. Overall, considering the weight of the scooter, the lower range with actual operating conditions is slightly disappointing, but works well for most situations. Speed: This scooter is very fast! You will not be limited with power in any situation and handles all hills with ease. The beefy suspension allows you to feel comfortable with this speed in most situations. Portability: This scooter is heavy at 61 pounds, but is still slightly portable. The handle release is not really that quick in nature in comparison to competing options, but is not too much more of a hassle. Commuting: As long as you are not needing to pick the scooter up a lot throughout your commute, it can work as a commuting option. I will say that the lack of brake lights, headlights, turn signals, or a useful extended fender take away from this scooters ability to work as a full blown commuting option. Fluidfreeride is offering extensions for the fender so that will be a big help. Other 3rd party options Lockability: This is a huge deal if you are wanting to use the scooter as a mode of transportation. The slot as the bottom of the handlebars allows a kyrptonite chain to pass through and you can also sign up for their insurance scheme to protect your investment. Overall: I really enjoy riding this scooter due to the speed and ruggedness of the mantis scooter. The base model seems to be plenty of power. For the price, if you are okay with the weight and a few missing features, this is a nice option compared to other options in the marketplace today.

First off I didn't realize what I was getting. This is a really top notch scooter. What you get for the money is really a lot compared to others. The build quality is really top notch. It's very powerful!!!

Mantis: I'm in love with this scooter. So in love I'm now buying the pro model. I am fortunate enough right now to have a couple of these bad boys. I literally look more forward to my work days since I started my commute on this scooter. Thanks to Peter and team who helped me with an unfortunate mishap with my Wide Wheel, then helped me through my graduation to the Mantis. Much success to this team! Cheers

For my first impressions review, Mantis is by far everything I had hoped it would be. I can get to work 10 miles away within a margin of error of about 5 or so minutes of what it takes to get there by car, hills and all. This alone made the purchase so worth it. Of course, this is in addition to the fact that it's just a blast to ride in genera!. I've owned Horizon for about a month and knew I wanted more power but couldn't find it anywhere else for the price. I initially thought that could have caused a lack of build quality but I was pleasantly wrong. The ride is ridiculously smooth with the dual shocks, acceleration is a huge bonus riding in the bike lane, and Mantis feels like the perfect top speed for a scooter which means it's still decently safe for my wife's taste as well haha. Barring anything else going wrong, I'm more than happy to recommend Mantis to just about anyone who needs a scooter as a reliable and quick form of transportation. My only caution is to just be aware of riding in Dual Motor + Turbo + Gear 3.. (roughly 240lbs) on my BASE fully charged, I end up with less than 40% battery after a 10-mile ride to work... I was hoping to only charge to 80% to get more life out of these batteries, and maybe I still can if I really only want enough charge to get 1 way, it just would have been nice like I'd hoped to get around 25 miles of range fully charged riding it in Dual/Turbo/G3... just not as fun or efficient to ride any other way for me unfortunately!... Recommendation/hope for the future is that when I have to replace the battery at some point, it can be with the 24.5 Ah LG and that it's compatible with the Base controller.. but upgrading to the EY3 wouldn't be bad either! It's the full hydraulic brakes as the final addition that add to the overall price hike on the Pro that I don't feel are necessary for me. Trust me, I have an insane amount of stopping power on my Base. Anyways, looking forward to continuing to ride this beast!

Overall the engineering of the product is great, however the final assembly of the product is a whole different story. Fasteners, on wheels were not torqued to be safely ridden, I was able to move tighten and tighten bolts with my hands, fastened them with approximately 15 lbs of torque. Kick stand came off while I was riding the scooter, on a turn the stand came down on the pavement and lifted rear of scooter of the ground, stopped, found stand hanging on one screw! that was halfway out, removed and proceeded on my ride. Goose neck, no matter how much I tighten the two hand adjustable bolts at steering column where it collapses, there is always back and forth play on handle bar due to final product finish. BIG DISSAPOINTMENT-MUST FIX. This scooter is extremely responsive, this is an accident waiting to happening, while randomly stopping and talking to friends, I accidently hit the accelerator lever, machine took off like a bat out of hell with it my stuck thumb, a very painful experience and a dangerous one, as I was in NYC, at a traffic light when I pumped into a friend and proceeded to chat, luckily at the time of hitting the throttle accidentally the light was green, otherwise, this scooter would of taken a few pedestrians. This product would deserve five stars if the above issues are addressed, safety mechanism on throttle to stop accidental acceleration. On fasteners Simple fix - Loctite Threadlocker. Goose Neck-Steering Column-final machine tooling not as good as overall engineering and machine tooling. Final word. Not a scooter for beginners.

Hi Fuad, thank you for your review. You are right that this is no scooter for beginners. Please have a look at our video explaining the advanced display settings: https://youtu.be/K0z7RDvqHao You will be able to customize motor torque and initial acceleration for a smoother take off while you are getting used to the power. You can also turn on kick-and-go so that the throttle will only respond while the scooter is already in motion. From your review it is difficult to judge what is causing the wobbly stem. It should sit super tight which is one of the plus points of this scooter. Have a look here: https://youtu.be/-Io5cReAqGo for some self help. Please do reach out to us on email in case you cannot get this resolved or you are running into any other issues. Peter

This Mantis base model has so much power, great for hills. It really does get to 40mph. Handles great, sturdy and wonderful suspension. The pneumatic tires add a smoother ride as well. Brakes very well. Love the lights on this scooter, do need a headlight for nighttime riding. The display module is so nice to have, everything to view and settings to adjust. Customer service of Peter and his team has been exceptional. Nice to get that for an online purchase. Absolutely love this scooter so far.
