“My body felt like a disjointed system , one fighting with the another and hence getting injured in the process. I used to think that my injury was based on the weakness in that particular area ( knee, shoulder) , but doing elements made me realise that I was lacking serious coordination in my body not strength in a particular area. Elements helped boost my confidence and awareness in my own body. And its also lot of fun.”
“I started Elements a few months ago. I recently turned 60 and even though I have always been an active person (yoga, pilates, tai chi, Qi Gong, hiking, skiing, etc.) this looked like a fun new way of training and I felt I needed to challenge myself with another form of training. My particular challenge is that I have severe osteoarthritis in both knees and some moves are painful but I can modify and I feel that I am getting stronger every day. I love that it’s a no nonsense program, with lots of clear videos with real people, giving lots of cues and modifications. The program is well made and is motivating because you see and feel the improvement. I can’t wait to see what I’ll be able to do in a year from now! Cheers for GMB!”
“Elements is a great program to build strength and overall mobility. From the assessment to the daily evaluation you get a system to help you track your progress and stay focused on progress in a healthy way (not just quick results). The program stresses the importance of being okay with knowing your body and your limits so you don’t try things that would be likely to injure yourself. The shoulder focused movements gradually helped strengthen my arms and shoulders to alleviate some shoulder pain I was experiencing. I keep using Elements to ensure that I maintain a level of fitness and because the movements / exercises are fun and allow for great variability.”
“I mostly focussen on endurance sports, running and bicycling. Elements brengservice me much more diversiteit and helpt me in trail running.
Recently I did a challenging 30 kilometer trailrun without any aches or pains the day after. So to my surprise the diverse stretches and moves in Elements make me run better.”
“This is my 2nd time going through Elements (1st time 6 years ago). The updated version is awesome. Helpful video tutorials, timers and great variety. I'm halfway through and continue to be so challenged. After a season of strengthening with weights, I wanted to get back "into" my body, slow things down and really focus in on movement initiation while building strength through body weight only.”
“I have owned this program for years but I have never completed it because of shoulder issues that I seem to get 2-3 weeks in. Co-incidentally I just started the program again yesterday! One thing that would be useful is a "restart program" button that brings you back to the start because it's not so easy to get back to the beginning, or rather, I should be easier!
The other thing is that after a couple of weeks the progressions really seem to ramp up, clearly these are too fast for me, especially the frogger and the monkey. Some guidance on what to do if the next session is too much would be good. Should I repeat previous session? Should I repeat the previous iteration of the topic of that day?
I really want to be able to finish the program and I love the idea of it, I just haven't been physically able to so far!”
Thanks for the feedback on this. We are working on a restart... honestly, we've avoided it for a long time because most people are better off just continuing from the same point. But in your case, it's been a while, and it makes sense.
If you need additional guidance, all you have to do is hit reply on any of the emails we send asking if you need help. The program is very adaptable, and we have a whole team of coaches waiting to help you. All you gotta do is ask :)
“The fitness plan seems good. I don't know a ton about these things, but I feel like I'm getting stronger and more mobile, slowly but surely.
There is room for improvement in the way it is presented, though.
Notes about form and sometimes critical details about what you're supposed to be doing pop up from time to time as text underneath the video, while you're doing an exercise. I don't know how other people are using this, but I can't imagine a way of positioning any device so that you can always read it while doing these exercises.
I think the program could be improved significantly if, instead of the short looping videos that currently happen during the exercises, they had a full-length video of someone doing the exercise along with you, and those pop-up text notes were spoken out loud.
I've had several complaints while working through this fitness course, but I think that almost all of them could be resolved with this one change. I know it would be a lot more work for them, but given the cost of the program, it doesn't feel unreasonable?”
Thanks for the ideas. What we've found with full-length follow-along videos is that they encourage you to move at the pace of the presenter rather than your own.
We are planning to have those form cues added as text or spoken instructions soon so you shouldn't have to scroll to see them.
