“01/08/2015Maidened ours today. First flight tail heavy with 1550 Mah 3 cell. Switch to 2200 and flew great but will stall in turns without full throttle. Going to do some cutting in the batt compartment to fit a 4 cell which turn this baby into a very cool rocket!Definitely not a beginner and jet but it's totally awesome in the air. Love it!”
“This plane is my new favorite for just getting out to the field and getting up in the air quickly. My friend and I tried with 2200mah Admiral batteries at first and just could not get it to hand launch successfully. Just not enough power to get going. Switched to 1600mah batteries and babbam! So easy. I get about 5 minutes of mixed throttle usage flying on each battery. This is my first EDF but definitely won't be my last. Its not a super fast airplane but its pretty much just right for someone transitioning from slower prop planes to a first EDF.”
“The only reason i gave it 4 stars is no rudder (which normally i wouldn't complain but on full bank turns she needs one). Other than that it is a 5 star fun little jet with the exception of the C.G. The actual CG is 36mm back from leading edge of the wing. I flew her with an admiral 3300mah 3 cell but she was quite heavy but still flew. I recently changed her to the admiral pro series 2200mah 40c 3 cell. I loke the way she flies much better now bit still needs a rudder. I am planning on changing to a 4s set up and a 50 amp esc (the motor i will be using is the FMS standard edf motor: 2627 5100kv brushless outrunner for the 4s setup. All in all a great model but for those looking to get into edf jets i would say this one could be your second not first but still easy to fly. Absolutely love MotionRC and i will not buy from anyone else. Thanks motion! Please check out my youtube channel and subscribe: Dartanian Carlson”
“I was there, worked this airplane, exact markings .. Navy A school 4 Jet Mech. Memphis Tn., we trained on Panthers even though the Axial flow engine pretty much obsolete .. They where Radio Consolable & where used to train to recover Regulus Submarine missiles (jet) that where launched @ sea .. When major Maintence needed they where scrapped and brought anther 1 from mothball Litchfield Park Ar. .. If u served with me, sure would like to here from u 530 640 3545”
“Overall 4 stars. Price/value 5 stars. Not great in wind. Normal power (no unlimited vertical). This aircraft is easy to put together and trims out quickly.I flew the maiden flight in breezy conditions and nearly lost it once but after I got it under control, it was a joy. Don't let it get too far away - it is a small airframe and you can lose orientation. You want to let it fly because it is so easy but rein it in and keep it close. It is a joy to fly in calmer weather. Now, it isn't' a surprise that such a light airplane is sensitive to wind so that is not a big detractor. In fact, if a breeze comes up while you are airborne, you can still manage it. However, I am giving it 4 stars as that matches with my own stable of airplanes. I have airplanes about this size that are better in the wind but for a scale - this is a great addition.I am running the recommended battery and CG was perfect. Power is OK - it isn't a barn burner/hot liner but it does have a nice fly-by look and speed. You can't do big honking loops with it because it doesn't have unlimited vertical but it will loop nicely and roll nicely (more scale than anything). Hand launches are fine - if in a stiff breeze be careful to launch with not much upward angle else the breeze will catch it and flip it upwards. All launches were quite predictable. I recommend a helper launch on the maiden - I didn't use one and was fighting it for the initial bits. Landings are easy - just test it on the maiden to see the slow speed envelope and bring it in at a nice low angle and flare at the last minute. Works great. There are lots of YouTube videos on these and many use bigger batteries but you really don't need one. Stick with stock and it is a pussy cat.”
“I have been flying my 1st F9F for 3 years now and its one of my favorite planes to throw in the car and go flying!I was fortunate to have 4 buddies who had bought the same aircraft and showed me what to do to get it to fly right before I bought mine.- We use 2200 3S batteries - they shove into the nose without modification and the CG is perfect!- I cut one of the ply cross-members on the servo tray to put the receiver below the tray and out of the way for the battery. (I use Spektrum)- I trimmed (2) of the cheater ribs in the lower intake so I have a place to grip (pinch) the airframe just below the CG for hand launch. It does not affect the looks and makes it so much easier to handle!I put on 25 flights on the first day. I only had to stop after trying to limbo under a barbed wire fence and clipping the tail!I have hundreds of flights on mine and pictures of it flying formation with other F9F's on the 12k.I bought another as my 1st is getting a nickname as 'lumpy' due to my entanglements with ground based obstacles!I recommend this aircraft to anyone who has some flight experience!”
“Just to add to my previous review:- The F9F flies straight out of my hand with a small toss.- The Speed envelope is wonderful! I can fly full bore, or I can slow it down and get it to hover in the wind. I actually got it to fly backwards in a strong breeze!- The colors are terrific! it stands out in the sunshine against the sky & the green of the trees & grass (for 3 months in Minnesota!)- It just needs a PILOT! I'm putting a Williams Brothers small jet pilot in my next one!”
“The instructions were a little unclear as related to the CG position. One page said 36mm and another page said 45mm measured from the from the fuslage leading edge not the wing leading edge. The 36 mm measurement is correct.Like I said on an earlier review, she flew her madien flight with absolutly no trim adjustments.Great Flyer”
