“The Freewing A-4 is a very high quality model. The parts fit and finish is far better that what has been available in the past. The directions are clear and assembly is fool proof. The only problem I have with my plane is the nose gear is really sloppy and loose and that may just be this plane. Over all if you have always wanted a Skyhawk your wait is over, this is the one.”
“One of the better Freewing airplanes esthetically, in my opinion. Hard to see it's made of foam. Love the Navy decal scheme. Didn't love how long it took to put on all of the decals. However, the look they gave the A-4 is great, and I liked being able to choose the scheme. Assembly of the aircraft took me about 1.5 hours. Pretty easy build. Application of the decals, 3 hours. For a price point of $329.00, I'm willing to absorb the extra labor. Had a problem with the junction circuit board. The elevator port worked intermittently. Couldn't get it to work reliably, so I just plugged the elevator servo directly in to the receiver. Problem solved. All in all, a great value for the price! My experience from the first six flights, the flight characteristics are gentle, yet responsive. No bad tendencies. Quick roll rate, be careful, authoritative rudder, good ground handling, no notable pitching or ballooning when mid or full flaps are deployed, no flap to elevator mixing necessary, no appreciable difference in handling with partial or full ordinance load, except a cool whistling sound with full load :-), great climb rate (didn't need much more than half throttle to keep going vertical), straight and level speed runs around 80-90 mph, landings in calm conditions, with full flaps were predictable and easy to hold flare before touch down. All in, a dream to fly. If there's something better for $329.00, I haven't seen it yet. My settings for first flights: No gyro installed, I have 30% expo on Aileron, Rudder and Elevator surfaces. 90% travel on ailerons, 80% elevators and 100% rudder. Used old and new style Admiral 5000 50C packs, positioned almost all of the way forward in the battery bay. Lined up the forward end of the batteries, even with the two forward screws used to hold the wooden battery board in place. This gives a little nose heavy CG. From center point, put in 5 clicks of up on elevator trim. Got hands off, level flight as the result. Good luck with your A-4!”
“Got my A4 on 9-7 2017 ,it is beautiful plane ,put together ,after hook up all the connection ,one of the left wing not working ( flap ,aileron and retract ) ,after trouble shoot ,I found one of the pin on the circuit board installed in the wing is reset ,I take it out and find one of the solder joint of that pin has cold solder , I try to resolder it and it work find now ,I am happy it happen before I fly it otherwise it will crash on maiden ,over all it nice airplane , don't like the water decal”
“I'm am an A-4 fan, so that's an easy choice. if it flies half as good as it looks, it's a great plane. when do you think they will come out with an f-4, f100,or f9f panther? thanks for the exelent products.”
