“The model is beautiful. Not assembled yet yet. Training on other, more expendable models first. But it will be a display model until then.
Perhaps interesting note: My father, Bob Hall was responsible for the Bearcat's design at Grumman and was its first flight test pilot.
Your model makes mre proud!”

“This is my second Flightline kit, first being the Ta152H which is an excellent kit. Everything was going great building it until I got to hooking up the aileron linkages. One aileron was crooked, and the other was installed butted up against the flap. You could not move one without the other moving, they bound up through their travel. Both flaps were installed in the same place - looking at the aileron it was easy to see that it was about 1/8" inboard from where it should be and this was causing the binding issue. I contacted customer service and I was told to put a flat knife or something in between them and pry them apart, best he could do was offer $15 store credit. That's not fixing it, and that's what I told customer service. Fixing it is removing the aileron and installing it correctly. Looking at the other aileron, the hinge line was not straight, 2 hinge points were higher than the third. Again, this causes binding when the surface is deflected. I cut them both out and rehinged them. The kit itself is a great rendition of an F8F Bearcat. I just wish they would watch their product a little closer. It shouldn't have left the factory. I bought a $250 Stihl chainsaw that same day - I didn't have to 'pry' on anything to get it to work. For what the kit cost, that was the wrong answer in my opinion. I know Flightline isn't EFlite, but it isn't Dynam either. I have had two experiences with Motion RC customer Service - one was outstanding - this one not so much to be honest. I have the hinges installed in the wing, still have to attach the ailerons so I have not flown it as yet. If it flies as good as it looks, it'll be a great addition to my collection.”

“Good quality foam and model looks the part.Mine arrived with the pilot loose in the cockpit so I had to remove by cutting around it and re gluing the pilot and canopy in place. Looking down from nose to tail it is clear that the vertical stabiliser is canted to one side which is not a good look. Check for weak aileron hinges, one of mine was split before the first flight. Wing screws did not line up very well and it took me some time to get the wings on.Motion RC EU offered me a 30 Euro reduction due to these problems.”

“This is a great intermediate warbird. Very well finished. Easy to put together. But it’s every bit a warbird for takeoff and landing. When you take off, hold a slight amount of aft stick so it lifts off as soon as it has speed. Otherwise it will rotate forward on the mains and the nose will swing the the prop into the ground. On landing, it lands like an EDF. Set the approach attitude and adjust rate of descent with *throttle only.*If you don’t do either of these things, you’re gonna bang up your new airplane.”

“We had the opportunity to maiden the F8F the other day and it went very well. My 9 year old was interested in this one and we decided it was a good first scale warbird for him due to its stability. I flew the trim flight for him and it performed as expected. I gradually increased the power and with a little right rudder, it tracked straight down the runway. The climb out was smooth and with a few clicks of down trim, it flew great. I tested the stall characteristics and it was very forgiving overall. I used half flaps for landing due to a 10 mile an hour wind blowing straight down the runway and I figured I did not need the full extension of the flaps and I was right. It settled in very nicely and rolled out smooth as well. My son flew it next and although he was a bit nervous, he handled it very well. He has a lot of stick time with some high wing trainer type aircraft and smaller trainer jets but this was his first go at a warbird and it was everything we expected and more. Another great product from Flightline and Motion RC.”
