“The struts are great and the wheels are exactly what is needed. My problem was with the installation of the nose gear trunion. Once the motor was pulled apart it was virtually impossible to get the wires to form back into the case as they came out. The installation is too difficult and by the time I worked on it for an hour, one of the servo leads separated from the computer chip. I ended up buying the original nose gear again and installing it. I would strongly suggest that the nose gear for the absorbing strut be assembled BEFORE sale as part of the package. I would have gladly paid a little extra not to have gone through that problem.”

“Parts LOOK to be high quality materials, but require disassembly and polishing for smooth operation. In addition, one main shock spring was WAY too stiff - needed two (2) coils removed to match the other side. Seems to work very well now...”

“With the low bounce tires from Dubro I did not think I needed the upgrade. However the weak link of a model I otherwise am absolutely in love with is the stock landing gear. Very prone to bending back if you're less than perfect on your landings everytime. Yeah, you can bend them back but beware: if the bend prevents them from completely retracting when "up", they may not recycle and come down - and it can be a sometimes yes, sometimes no. Well I got the upgraded struts. First off they are pretty straightfoward to install. Watch the video which is great but note that since the video was made, the product has changed and the nose gear now fits perfectly WITHOUT messing with the circ clip. Yup, you'll need to jockey it off to remove the old strut, but the new one has a lip that holds it in place without the clip and without any adjustments that he does in the video - at least that's the case with the parts I received. And the work beautifully. No issues with landings or dependability of the retracts since installing. Well worth the price.”

“Definitely an upgrade from the plastic stock struts no question. Love the suspension but it's a major oversight by Freewing to not give the mains the oleo scissor suspension like the nose since all struts on the P-38 have those scissor struts. Which is why I can only give them 4 and not 5 stars.”
