FlightLine P-38L Lightning "Pacific Silver" 1600mm (63") Wingspan - PNP Reviews

4.6 Rating 163 Reviews
This thing flys like a dream, you could actually use it as a trainer plane, except for the landings, you need speed for that, the reason I only give it 4 stars? The power is not in the motors, three quarter trottle is max, a beautiful plane such as this should have just a little more power,

Wow.....got the silver....beautiful. Some build cautions:Do not use any tape of any kind during construction. Even painters tape will remove finish.....Love mine, can't wait to fly it...

Motion RC to the rescue ! My P38 went into a non-recoverable spin due to my use of innexpensive Lipo batteries. One cell failed causing imbalance between the motors and inducing a death spin. Fortunately, the gear were UP and no mechanical hardware was damaged. The fuselage was a mess ! Motion RC sent me new booms and pilot cockpit within a few days of my ordering them fast ! They not only fit like the originals but they came complete with landing gear mounting brackets, servo wires installed and new landing gear doors. All I had to do was to switch my gear , motors, and radio into the new fuselage. It is now back in the air and flies as well as it did before ! Check your batteries between flights, pilots and count on Motion RC to be there if you need them !

I wanted to thank you guys at Motion for the quick replacement of the nose gear retract. That was awesome service. Unfortunately, the new nose gear retract failed on her 2d flight. Replacing with E-flite 25-46 aluminum rail retract set.The only other comment I have, regarding the model: Flightline RC should consider providing 95 degree metal rail retracts at least for for the main gear. That would allow the gear doors to close completely. As is, the gear retracts to within about 3/8 of where it should be and the gear doors remain cracked open a little bit. I'm sure that causes extra stress on the gear door servos. I solved the problem by shimming the gear retracts at the front with plastic (3x thickness of a credit card).. This allows the main door to close completely and actually makes the model stance closer to scale.Customer service : You guys ROCK!

Was PNP but wiring for receiver was too short and required extensions. Foam quality was ok but not great. Instructions were good. Still have to maiden it but in all it was worth the money. MotionRC support is outstanding

This airplane looks all business! I would give it 5 stars for just the looks and retracts with the sequenced gear doors alone but I had a few problems with mine. The first thing I noticed was the wiring. I like for it to be nice neat and organized like on my real airplanes but some of the wires were really short and had to have extensions added to them and by the time you get the receiver in it with the sequencing circuit board it's kind of a mess. The 2nd thing was the right motor firewall some how came loose on the third flight and the aircraft developed a vibration. I tried to glue and tighten it in place but on the 5 flight without any warning the right motor departed the aircraft. Basicly snapped the foam boom at the firewall and the prop spun into the fuselage wiping out the nose gear door as well. So for that I give it two stars.

I like this plane ! This is not my first twin , but is my new favorite. Motion RC delivered it quickly and I was impressed with the detail and quality. This is a big plane ! It is not a tiny 'foamie' but a scale plane that flies like a big bird. The lightning presents differently than a conventional plane and everyone at my club stops to look it over. In flight, you must learn it's silhouette and pay attention to its direction and attitude, It keeps you on your toes and forces everyone to watch. Mine is Stock and flies as such. Plenty of power for verticals and I use two 3000 mah batteries for 5 to 7 min flights. Thank you Motion RC for the great Build Video , that helped me put it into flight status quickly and ansswered many questons in advance. Agree the 2.75 Dubro wheels help absorb landing impact, a good upgrade. 15% flaps for take off and landings is a recommended minimum. I mix flaps with retracts to make it easier to deploy. A bit of down elevator with flaps also helps. Yeah, the prop decals don't stay on, but nothing is perfect ! Other included decals allow for many possible plane identities and help the scale look. Keep it up Motion RC, waiting for the Tiger Cat to become available soon too !
