“The plane looks and flys amazing. I'm using the Admiral 4000 4s packs and I'm getting 7 minute flights. Wish this had some working oleo gear for it. The only bad thing about this plane are the decals and stickers. It only has enough to do the left side of the pod for three different schemes and the actual plane has them on both sides. Dont bother with the decals on the props, they dont last, just like some of the stickers. There seems to be a lack of glue on both. Other than that, I really like the plane. Its faster than I expected on the stock setup.”
“Plane was received in perfect condition with all parts present and accounted for. Went together fairly easily but you do have to think a little when routing all of those leads and connecting the controller. I used two 3000 Turnigy 4s Nano-Tech Li-po's for the initial flight and they provided more than enough power for the plane. Before the maiden I centered all control surfaces but added a couple of clicks of up into the elevator as I had seen on a couple of other maiden videos. The plane flew like a homesick angel and required no in flight trim. Landing was a very easy and I landed on a very short cut grass runway with no issues. Overall I give the plane a 10 for flight performance. There are a few things that either Flightline needs to address or the pilot needs to fix to make this plane a solid overall 10. First the landing gear mounts came loose on the main gear. I had to pull the retracts and using a curved tip irrigation syringe shoot glue under the mounts and press them back into place. Second One of Motion's own review videos shows using 3 inch main wheels and a 2 3/4 inch nose wheel, both are a little too large but if you do some grinding in the wheels wells you can make them work. Would be better to use 2 3/4 inch wheels for the mains and a 2 1/2 inch on the nose wheel, that'll get you by with no grinding in the wells. Third the decals for the props will not stay on. I don't think the decals are well suited for the material the props are made out of. Very minor issue but thought I'd mention it. The Flightline P-38 is very scale and the graphics options give you several actual versions of P-38's flown in the theater's of operations during WWII. Thanks Motion for a great flying plane at a great price!”
“I certainly agree with all the previous positive reviews and also had a landing gear depart when a less than perfect landing occurred. CA and kicker put it back in shape quickly. That said I did want to comment on the speed option which is one of the best. I ordered this option from the get go and installed as the plane was being built....all I can say is Excellent. During the summer this plane is flown at 7000 feet altitude and even with the thin air this big plane really hauls. With the stock speed props (12x8) and a little ESC tweaking, we have topped out at 101 mph as measured with a radar gun. This using a single 4S 5000 mah battery. For a plane this large that is F A S T. Can cruise all day long at half throttle and easy loops at two thirds. One of the best purchases in quite awhile and just a blast to fly!!”
“man this plane is great. it flys so smooth and looks amazing in the air. the speed is there as well as the docile handling to make any pilot feel confident to land this like a pro. it is my first multi engine and it has taken all of my fear away. only down side is the manual does almost zero to help build/assemble this kit.such great scale and the delivery was spot on.in my case next day. honestly don't think maybe just do and thank them for offering it later.”
“Super-happy with my FlightLineRC P--38. This is the plane we've all been waiting for. It is VERY nice looking and really large and no big challenge to fly. It's almost as big as my couch! Really, if you've had your fill of single-engined warbirds and want to get into something larger with some very good mojo, you need to look at this plane seriously. For the price, it's the way to go.Build: This was probably the toughest build I've ever done on a foam plane. There is a ridiculous amount of wiring coming in from the wings, so be sure to take your time and get that right. The wire length seemed to be a bit too short for my comfort, so I added extensions to at least 6 wires. It just made it too hard to get everything where I wanted it in the fuselage. I highly recommend watching the build video on the Motion website. The manual was about useless, and it left out some important things that the video included. Just watch the video, pause it, keep up step-by-step, and you'll be fine. I used hot glue for some components (outer tips of horizontal stab, covers over wiring troughs, etc.), and that's working very well. I was not happy with the small tires, so I put larger DuBro tires on, and it looks a lot better. A little bouncy with them, so I'll keep experimenting. The outer wings are removable with machine bolts, so that's VERY cool, in case you don't have a truck big enough to haul this monster. Only complaint I have about the build was that there is a ridiculous amount of decals that you need to apply. There are a lot of options on aircraft numbering and nose art, but in addition, there are about 75 small decals that you need to apply to make it look realistic. It just wore me out...WAY too many. They don't stick that great either, and a few have come off in flight.Flying: This plane flies really nicely. Needed a lot of nose up trim and a little aileron. I had to dial the rudder and nose wheel steering WAY down, as it was twitchy on the runway at takeoff. Takes off and flies very nicely now. I recommend using take-off flap. Otherwise, it's just having to go too fast on the runway. I have the two 4S 3000 batteries right behind the first row of holes in the battery plate, and it's balanced perfectly there. Pretty quick plane and looks outstanding flying by. This plane looks really big in the air, so no problem seeing it. Landings are fairly straight forward with full flaps. No weird vices that I've found so far. I set up all throws exactly as the manual, with the exception of the ailerons. I felt it was too much throw, so I dialed that down quite a bit. It flies perfectly there. I would recommend much less aileron than what the manual recommends.Overall, very very happy with this plane. If you're ready to go bigger and have a way to haul and store this baby, then I highly recommend it.Enjoy!”
“Wow--Lots of Cooll airplane in this box. A little complex but O what a beautiful airplane. Very impressed--for that price I expected a lot and I got it plus a lot more. WOW”
