Can't say enough about how good this model is. Retracts are a little weak but that can be upgraded easily if one desires.

I have never been a big P-38 fan. but this one just grabbed my attention. The details are outstanding and the engineering work in the sense of a flying model that has gone into this one is extraordinary. Haven't finished detailing mine out yet but have already made a few flights with it....all I can say is Fabulous!!! this planes fly's like it's on rails and is fairly easy to handle...no bad habits at all and for a twin that's remarkable.Motion RC hit the mark with this one and did a super job along with Flight line RC. I will be getting the silver one to go along with this one just because I enjoy it so much. You can't go wrong by getting either one of these.

I saw this plane's announcement and had to get on the initial pre-order........a couple of days after it was announced. When it finally got to me, I was unable to get it out of the box for a week+. That has changed and I'm in the middle of assembly and I can tell you that I have had not one single issue. I'm putting it together with the Motion build video and everything is going smoothly. I intend to do some of the popular mods and my own livery but I'm going to maiden her first. I've bought extra parts so I can get creative and not worry if something does not work out. I can't believe the detail of this plane and the gator skin that I've read about is almost non-existent. I don't know where you would go to get this kind of model for the price. I'm an old buildem' kind of guy who has entered into the electric foam world and this is by far the best model I have seen to date and I've been in the hobby for 35+ years. Good going Motion and Flightline......now about that P47 Razorback.........

This plane is phenomenal. I had more fun building this than any other foam plane I have in my Hangar (Dozens). Yes there are a couple issues with screws being a little long or some fit up issues but anyone with minor modeling skills can handle those. I miss the days of building planes so I don't mind those minor things. The coolest thing about this plane is the opportunities for customization and kicking it up a notch to make it more scale. A shortlist of things you want to do is:1. Paint the struts or replace them with the P51 Oleos for more realism. You can't have white plastic on this baby!2. Replace the wheels with Dubro's or Robart or at a minimum, paint the stock wheels.3. Get the paint matched at your local home store and paint all the servos grey or OD Green as well as the edges of the plastic light covers and a few of the blemishes.4. Drill out the gun barrels and paint them (I used gun blue) to make them look more realistic.5. Add screens to the cowling and radiators with screen door repair kits from your local home store.6. Add the trademark V-Antenna from the center pod radio to the tips of the tail rudders. I used the flying wires part from the big FMS biplane and it turned out awesome!7. Create your own Livery for the bird. I used a combination of all the included graphics and put some custom Julie Marie Nose Art (I used 12al paper and printed my own) on it in honor of the girls who let us waste our kids college funds on these things. A lot of guys are painting the cowlings and having Callie Graphics. Scale freaks probably just had a heart attack.8. Fly it like you stole it!The only issue I had was that the main landing light doesn't work and there doesn't seem to be a replacement on the website. I'll have to worry about that one later. If 6 stars was possible, I would have selected it!

First and foremost, the 4 star rating is because of two issues. There is a problem with the match between the booms and the outboard wing panels. the left side was off by 1/8 while the right was off by 1/4. This is fixable with some warm water, and gentle persuasion. The only other problem was that the placard 12als are wrong in a few places.WITH THAT SAID...This is by far the best plane I've ever had the honor of owning. The maiden was easy and relaxed, after it took off of course. My first landing was smooth and gentle. What a great performer.Flying this plane scale is just fantastic. It gave me goosebumps just watching and listening to it as it went through every maneuver I asked of it.I'm so impressed that this is a plane you can put together and fly OR take days with and detail out, destress it a bit, and not worry about whether it is was wort the time. This is going to be my go to plane for a long time.Thank you Motion and Freewing. GREAT JOB. Now just fix those couple of small issues and it will be perfect.

very impressed with the quality and ease of assembly. I had no issues with my model and no complaints. there is to note that you need to dial some up elevator trim about 1/8 for level flight also to add my model with the stock landing gear really takes the grass runway nicely I was very surprised.great job motion!

I was in on the Pre Order was very pleased when the plane arrived. I got the Allied Green version and really liked how it looked. Being the first issue of the model I expected some growing pains and only had a few minor, and correctable issues on the build.1. As already mentioned, instead of using 10mm screws for the center Nacelle as stated in the manual, you're provided with 15mm screws.2. The manual diagram for the circuit module is mislabeled for the LED's. The manual shows the left side as 2 strobes, the right as 1 wing and 1 landing light. In reality the left side is both wing LEDs, the right side is the strobe (top) and landing light (bottom).3. Slight misalignment of the outer wing panels to the center section that resulted in one wing trailing edge sagging more than the other. This is easily corrected by shimming the trailing edge up and letting it set for a day. No need for heat and it brings it into alignment to match the other wing.Once built pay attention to the manual for your initial elevator setting, it shows 4mm up. I still needed some up elevator trim on the maiden flight.Flying the plane is very easy, for take off I like a nice gentle roll out and then ease her into the air. She looks good in the air and impresses with those high speed low passes. Landing, I still keep a little speed up as I like to do with warbirds, and let her settle on the runway.Overall impression is that its a great model with only a few minor issues on the build that are easily remedied.

Just receive this plane from the first batch. Wow! was I like a little kid when I opened the box! I quickly started to assemble her , following the video Motion provides...yes, follow the video! I have yet to fly it, that comes this weekend, so I'll post a flight review of that later. But here are my impressions upon receipt and building.First look:Yes, its a foam plane for sure...photos dont show it,but once you get it in hand you can clearly see the foam cells, a few holes etc..just like other foamies. The little 5 dot flowers are present, but you have to look for them, theyre not obvious like Dynams are. Panel lines! yes, theyre there, and theyre not 6 scale trenches..theyre restrained somewhat. Im rather anal about panel lines, being a scale plastic modeler too, and the ones on this plane dont bother me as much. I replaced the main gear wheels with better looking Robart scale wheels, though had to cut off about a 1/4 off the strut wire to allow the hub cap to fit. (that or drill a hole through the hub cap)The scale plastic strut parts were molded in white..this could be painted, but really wish they had at least used grey or silver plastic. That being said, the gear on other P-38 offerings is one thing that turned me off from buying them. While these arent true to scale, they do look pretty good.Construction tips:Not mentioned in the video is the need to disable one of the power feeds from one of the ESCs. Pull the red wire (center wire) out of one of the throttle connectors before plugging it into the Y harness. make sure to tape over that loose wire with electrical tape. (thanks to the guys on HobbySquawk for that info) .When mounting the lower center fuselage section ,the instructions and video call for 5x 10mm screws..however ,your provided with 15mm screws..use those.Overall this a beautiful looking plane. Quite detailed for a foamie, and the quality so far has been top notch. I cant wait to see what Flightline comes out with next. I already have an Avios Sea Fury, but after building this P-38, think my Avios SF is getting replaced. Now that everything is assembled, and all controls and functions are verified that they work properly (and they do)Its time to place all the 12als on..which will be this Journeys End ..next up is what I anticipate to be a great flight and more to come! Thankyou Motion/FlightLine for producing such a fine looking P-38. Im overall really impressed.
