“For context, this is my second sump pump monitor (my first being the PumpSpy). Setup wasn't easy, but it wasn't hard and having this been my second time setting one up, it may have contributed. Expect maybe 30-45 minutes is all you need for installation if you take your time. While installing, I set it up and it did give proper notifications and warnings that it was not installed correctly. I plugged it in with the cone shaped monitor was not installed correctly and got the "Faulty Sensor Installation: The sensor seems to be pointing at a stationary object instead of the water." It's amazing that it will tell you that and it's a critical thing to have done properly and something you wouldn't want to find out the hard way! After receiving this error and not corrected, the pump did still operate correctly, but the app did not keep track of the pump history. Understandable that it may happen, but I wasn't sure if that lack of monitoring would be an issue if I'm on vacation and another warning does pop up.Under full installation, monitored the usage exactly as it should. Quick and easy app readouts, real time monitoring exactly what I am use to, pop-up notifications in app like I wanted, and great performance all around.I did not test the auditory sound alert, but that's a nice feature that I don't think the PumpSpy doesn't. Frankly, I went out on a limb thinking that the Moen would be better than my PumpSpy and it's pretty much on par and I'd have a hard time choosing if I needed to. I think for now, I'll stick with my old one, not because the Moen is lacking, but because it warned me of a frozen exit hose that saved my entire basement. The fact that it came with a lithium 9V battery is a huge win! I'm starting to upgrade to the lithium in my devices and love that Moen didn't go cheap and it's quality brand too. It shows they are paying attention to the small details and really invested in making this quality. Tough to look at the price and pay that much, but the first time it saves you the time and expenses of a flooded basement, it's more than paid for itself.”
“The product works great I am very happy with the information and sense of security it provides, but at least 10 times a day I get water level sensor lost connection message which is becoming very annoying.”
“The Moen Smart Sump Pump Monitor has some truly incredible features including a few I have not seen before with any competing product. The product is also very easy to install and the cost is reasonable compared to alternatives. Unfortunately all of that is ruined by an extremely buggy connection/ WiFi.The problem with the device, on a daily basis I receive multiple notifications indicating my device was lost as “Moen cannot connect with the device due to Wi-Fi or power loss.” WiFi at the device location is rock solid with more than adequate speed, >200mbs up/down. It’s not a power loss as device has its own internal backup battery, which I’ve changed and tested to be at full capacity, not to mention plugged into UPS. I honestly couldn’t tell you the last time I had a device drop and I have many ‘smart home’ products >40wifi clients.I contacted Moen support (on 04/18/2022 at 1:18PM EST) about the issue and the agent was aware of it. They advised it was a server side issue on Moens end and they were working to restore. I advised I have multiple other Moen WiFi devices (4 to be exact) and non had any similar issues. They told me the sump pump monitor runs through different server as such issues only with Moen sump monitor ♂️.I have changed my notifications for the Sump monitor to notify for connection or power outage to be the longest duration allowed on the app. This helped reduce the crazy number of notifications I was receiving daily but I still get multiple a day.Based on the connection issues, at the time of writing this, I would not recommend at this time.Hopefully I’ll be able to update the review with some of the features, and how great they are, once the connectivity issue is resolved.PS, the ethernet port on the device will not solve your connection issues, I tried! Moen support advised port is for programming only. Additionally as this connectivity issue is likely on Moens server side a wired internet connection would not solve the problem.”
“Unfortunately, I didn't look closely enough at the specifications, but when this device arrived I see clearly it is for low horse power sump pumps and not sewage pumps like the kind in my basement to deal with the output of the guest bathroom. So I did not end up installing it.However it looks quite well made and you should disregard my star rating, which is mainly about the name not being clear enough to me, who knew nothing about the different kinds of pumps when I ordered it.”
“This has been a really useful device for me to have. I've had a sump pump fail before that ended up with water in the basement. Given how my pump failed (the motor burned out and would trip the breaker after about 15 seconds of being powered on), had I had this device, I would have been alerted to the power being cut to the sump pump and could have addressed it before it was a major issue that resulted in damage to my stuff! You can configure notifications on this to notify via push notices through the app as well as text messages and phone calls for the more serious issues. I opted to have it push, text and call me because I do not want to miss any events. I really like that it gives you all of these options because to me it's like there is no way that I would really be able to miss an event that could lead to water being in my basement without me knowing it was going to happen ahead of time. It's a little tricky to install, the zip-tie method of holding it to the pipe seems like it could have been done better, but that’s a minor complaint. All told, I've really got no major issues with it and it is something I'd recommend.”
“Used it for a project that had this brand of pump, works as advertised and is very featureful and extends the functionality of the installed pump system via monitoring and control through the app. Setup was quick and painless, the app is nice and fast to register/sign up.”
“This unit will beep loudly and will send you text/email messages if there is something wrong with your sump pump. No more wondering to see if your sump pump is running or not. Hopefully, no more flooded basements, or at least a warning if my sump pump flood or switch is going to break. We had a large rainfall one day and it said that my pump pulled 871 gallons of water within 24 hours.”
“So far, so good. The companion app is easy enough to setup for monitoring. It monitors ground flooding, if the hole is too full, and humidity. I'm especially curious about the humidity as my basement's definitely at risk for it. I'm reaching out to support to see if the ground flooding option can be disabled as my basement is pretty much constantly dealing with some standing water in the spring. I will update in a few months to give more detailed feedback, but so far I am impressed with its low profile.”
