This was a return trip to Lava Rock and as usual it did not disappoint. This place is truly a magical escape. We went on a few short adventures in the area, but really just wanted to spend time at camp in the pond!

Lava Rock is a must go Tentrr destination. Jim and Patty, Thank you for opening up your home to random strangers. Lava Rock is a magical retreat. We have only stayed in 2 Tentrr's and compared to our first this one was high end. Flushable toilet! Hot Shower! And a double queen size bunk bed. Plenty of room for all. The pond was refreshing and clean, contained poly wogs to catch and rainbow trout to feed, no worries nothing nibbled our toes. They have gone out of their way that you really don't need to leave the site. There appeared to be plenty of hiking trails. Horseshoes and bean bag toss. And also a boat you could use to paddle in the pond. What to bring, bug spray and invest in a thermacel, sleeping bags, pillows, charcoal to grill and your normal necessities like towels, clothes, food. Jim and Patty were great for conversation and Oreo the pup was just fun to have around. Very kid and dog friendly. Plan to go again. And if you don't like hiking, they are not far from Lake Winnipesaukee, and other touristy things like Funspot, Castle in the Clouds and a cool Science Nature Center. There is plenty to do. And plan to disconnect, service is spotty but you don't have to drive to far to get your fix. Lava Rock hope to see you soon!

My husband and I visited Lava Rock with our dog for our anniversary. We had perfect weather and the most relaxing time. Jim and Patty put so much thought and work into making their property perfect! We felt truly at one with nature. Not having cell service was a plus because we were able to enjoy the nature and each other’s company more without distractions. We felt rested and recharged after our stay. The property had the best balance of everything. The tentrr area is set up under some trees right in back of the meadow so you have perfect privacy and shade from the hot sun during the afternoon. We were still able to get some morning sun too. There is a little opening in the trees right above the fire pit which is perfect if you want to stay warm while star gazing at night. The open meadow is perfectly manicured with cut grass and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. This was our favorite place for stargazing at night! There is little to no light pollution for stargazing and we saw tons of satellites every night and some shooting stars too. The swimming pond in the field is the clearest you will ever see! We enjoyed feeding the fish and looking for frogs. There are also chairs for tanning on the sandy beach area along with some yard games. My husband was very impressed with the natural stream fountain that feeds the pond. There are multiple hiking trails right from the campsite with varying degrees of difficulty. Each peak had beautiful views of the surrounding landscapes including lakes, mountains, and farms. We chose a different trail every morning before the bugs were out. Jim was even kind enough to provide us with tick repellent which worked excellently on our shoes. The flushing toilet and hot shower made this site even more perfect. A hot shower to get bug spray and campfire smell off at the end of the day was the best. Jim and Patty were such great hosts. They are friendly and make sure you are set with all that you need while also allowing for privacy at the campsite. We can’t thank them enough for allowing us access to their beautiful land and we wish we could’ve stayed longer! We will definitely be back soon!

Beautiful location, very private area with hiking trails, the pond is a bonus on a very hot day. The owners were super nice. The tent location is in a shady area and it keeps the area cool. The bathroom is very clean. I’ve used TentRR in the past and that site provided a stove with a propane tank, blankets and pillows, soap, so I was expecting the same here but each site is different so better to come prepared. Bring your own pillows, blankets, linens. We felt that we were in a constant swarm of mosquitoes and ticks. We pulled many ticks off my dog and ourselves. Make sure you have your dog on a tick and flea preventative. Especially during the morning and evening. Check yourself often. Bring lots of bug spray, citronella candles. It’s a great place for families.
