We had a magical time at the Gitigaan! Highlights include: wading through the creek, stargazing in the open field, 360-degree sunset, farm fresh eggs, swaying in the hammocks, and last but not least, Genavieve's knowledge and passion for the history of the land. Thank you, thank you!

What a perfect spot! Genevieve and DJ were lovely and generous hosts, checking in with us every so often to make sure we had enough water and other supplies. They even volunteered to get us groceries on their personal food runs and gave us a heads up on a meteor shower. Although we were already sold on the description of their site, it surpassed our expectations when we finally saw it with our own eyes. Not only was the location beautiful and peaceful, but they supplied us with a s'mores kit, tp and other toilet supplies, maps, historical and wild life info, as well as first aid and handy tools like citronella candles, lighters, bin bags, hammocks, and even 15 gallons of cool drinking and shower water (which they refilled)! Their fairy garden is quaint and pays homage to their dutch ancestry along with the calming Algonquin field that lies in front of the tent. Watching the sunset atop their cornfield hill was gorgeous, and later in the night provided us with an epic expansive view of the stars. There's a creek with a swimming spot just about a 7 min walk from the camp site and beautiful sunflower fields just a 10 min drive away. There's also a lavender farm about 15 mins away by car, a state park, a lake and we visited amish country as well! It's about 1.5 hours away by car. At the site we saw deer, bunnies, bats, hawks, and even heard the yips of coyotes in the far distance. It was a perfect getaway that gave us the wild serenity we had been craving. I highly recommend it!

The hosts have made this site a pleasure to stay. They provided more than enough (cold) water on site. The tent was perfect and the bed was very comfortable. Supplies for grilling and getting your campfire started were provided. There was also 3 comfy hammocks in the shade and plenty of lighting to get around the site at night. They provided firewood and even supplies for the first night's S'mores! Communication with the hosts was easy and informative. There will be a book inside the tent with information on nearby amenities. If you are looking to camp in the area, you will be happy at the Algonquin Gitigaan!

My husband, daughter (8) and son (5) and I had an amazing weekend here!!! Gena and Dennis were very accommodating and answered all of my questions leading up to our visit! We especially enjoyed hiking the trails around the campsite, swinging in the hammocks and roasting marshmallows at night! The beds were very comfy and clean. Plenty of water and firewood for the weekend. We visited Sweet Arrow Lake and Swatara Park, but had the most fun exploring around the campsite! We will definitely be returning again in the future!

My boys and I spent two nights at the site and had an excellent experience. Dennis was always rapidly available to answer questions and help with a date change prior to our trip. The site was clean and as described. Plenty of wood, water and comfortable sleeping accomodations. We happened to hit a very warm weekend but we're pleasantly surprised to have some cool air come up the elevated hillside at night for very pleasant sleeping. Many thanks Dennis.

Awesome Tentrr experience! Site is situated on a huge property, carved out of a field and surrounded by trees. At sunset, follow the path past the fairy garden to the top of a hill with a beautiful view. Hosts are communicative and helpful. Site included plenty of potable water. Ask to borrow the air mattress hand pump to stoke the fire. Highway noise is slightly audible once we quieted down for sleep, but wasn’t distracting. Neighboring houses are nowhere to be seen/heard. Creek on property was too buggy to visit (also too stagnant for a dip- wishful thinking on our part haha). Nearby, check out Swatara State Park, Appalachian Trail, and the Vraj Hindu Temple.

It was a well spent 3 days and 2 nights after staying home for more than 3 months, with the situation going on. It gives you the comfort of staying in a hotel, with some adventure of camping experience. Gena was amazing in coordinating all your needs before the trip. Camp had everything for us, lots of firewood, water, sanitizers, trash bags etc etc. with silence and nature. Recommend to take a short trek to the top during sun set or sun rise to have an amazing 360 degree view of nature at its best. Also try Swatara falls (Google map search: Actual swatara falls), with 20mins of drive and then 20 mins of trail, you can spend some time in the water.
