“Ok, I had no basis for comparison as I've never used frozen green chiles before. well, I know what fresh ones are like. These are NOT even close to being like fresh. I expected this, to an extent because fresh just isn't the same as frozen. Period. However, these were very flavorless. Medium-hot? Not by a long shot. They were very, very mild. I thought they'd have more of a smokey taste, but no. The texture was pretty much what I expected, on the mushy side. That didn't matter to me as I was making green chile and wanted the ingredients to "cook down". The color though - really an unappetizing yellow color. So, my first, and probably last, experience with frozen green chiles left me completely under-whelmed. Truthfully, I rather doubt my bad experience was due to anything other than the fact the chiles were frozen. I'd probably see the same thing from any other producer. Well, maybe except for the heat factor. Mild, mild, mild, mild ....”

Hi Mark, As we noted on our website the Big Jim (Medium-Hot) crop was more mild than usual. Also the texture of roasted and frozen chile is definitely going to be different than that of fresh chile. It looks like we got in contact with you and sent you another box of chile, this time Sandia (Hot). I feel as though we have solved the problem and I hope you enjoy your Sandia! Best Wishes, Taylor

“I grew up in Eastern NMex and finding roasted chile (60s) was a pilgrimage to say the least. These jewels bring back those memories without the search. Yummy for chili rejenos.”

“These are the real deal. After I moved away from NM, I had to suffer through the canned stuff from the grocery store. Now I can get the exact same Green Chile I had in Albuquerque. Thank goodness for Hatch!”
