“I'm a transplanted New Mexican living in Houston. Ordered 10 lb of frozen whole green chiles from HCS since local grocers did not purchase and roast this year. The product arrived in good condition and chiles looked good. However, I was highly disappointed since the chiles lack in both flavor (very bland) and any heat. Honestly could have been eating anaheim pepppers. Was informed that the batch I received was from last year's harvest, i.e. a year old. Normally that shouldn't be a factor for the lack of flavor as I have eaten chiles frozen about a year that taste very good. Tried to reach out to discuss these issues with a manager but was unsuccessful in making contact. Ultimately decided to request a refund but only got 50% as I missed the 30 day notice by 2 days (guess I didn't realize that I needed to try them immediately!) Hopefully my batch was just an anomoly from HCS, because these are definitely not representative of how hatch chiles should taste.”
