“Moved to NY from San Diego four years ago and have not had good Mexican food since. Ordered the Chile Rellenos just to take a chance. I was definitely rewarded! Great Chile Rellenos! I put a little olive oil in a cast iron skillet and pan fry. The outer layer is crisp with melted cheese and chili on the inside. Perfect! I plan to always have a supply in the freezer.”

“I live in San Antonio TX and have bought Hatch for years with absolutely no problems. However recently received two boxes , but one had thawed. The other was fine. I sent an email to the Hatch folks and presto I received not only an apology, but a new box right away. This one was still frozen. Love this company!! Jerry- San Antonio”

Hi Dr. Smith, I am sorry that you did not find our rellenos to your satisfaction. The cooking instructions for our rellenos are on our website. The rellenos can be pan fried for 7-10 minutes or deep fried at 375 for 4 minutes. This is the Mitchell family recipe for rellenos and has been enjoyed by the family for many years. How would you recommend we improve the batter? Traditionally in New Mexico relleno batter is not sweet and has no sugar added. Regarding the stringy chile I have never had one of our rellenos come out stringy. I think this may result from over cooking the chile but I am not sure. I am sorry that you where not satisfied. “I see other reviewers received their chile rellenos frozen. I ordered two dozen which came completely thawed, but cool to the touch. Customer service told me they would be okay to eat but not to re-freeze them, so they sent a replacement for half the order (1 dozen) which also arrived completely thawed. I don't know why it is so hard to get the rellenos to Colorado in a frozen state, but I will not be ordering these again for that reason. Although the rellenos are good, I can't recommend them if they are not guaranteed to arrive frozen.”

“They arrived frozen and tried some immediately. Very good and satisfying. Where I live in Northeast Tennessee the rellenos are prepared without batter.”
