Best bike I have owned so far. Had it for 10 years so that basically says it all. Been to Morocco, Norway, Europe - also great for bimbling around the country lanes where I live. Only issue is the weight - at some time (I'm getting older now) will change it for a lighter bike.

Love the GS to bits. Would get another one tomorrow if I could afford it.

For first 2 years of ownership almost every other weekend was spent taking bike back to dealers : warped discs, dodgy electrics, gearbox seal (gearbox removal required). Now 11 years after purchase I am still getting recall notices, one last year (2 weekends spent taking it to the dealers and getting it back as they did not have the part for the recall !) and one this which I just ignore now. Only do c 100 miles a year on the junk and most of that is to do recalls and get an MOT, otherwise would not trust it to take it to the shops.

Best all round bike I have owned and most enjoyable to ride So impressed I'm going to trade up to a local version when I can afford Just as it's even better . Drove a 1000 mile journey with limited stops in some of the worse weather possible ,was still dry and got off with out. Single ache and pain . Not designed for the shorter rider but don't be put off I'm 5ft 3 and with some slight adjustments It's great .

Excellent touring machine. Excellent handling and great engine. Very well built and reliable. Only criticisms:Standard screen offers little protection for taller people, and the boxer twin is not perfectly smooth at slow walking speed

Brilliant bike all round. Had this one for 9 years now, and can't justify anything to replace it - new GSs are too costly, and mine still runs like new. As I'm 60 this year I'm starting to think of a lighter bike, but still want something that has the versatility, go-anywhere, reliability, all-round-fun of my present GS. Nothing else out there sparks me, though. Quite like the Ducati Scrambler, but it's too limited - can't see me doing intercontinental jaunts on it. Thinking of moving to F800GS, simply to gain some lightness, but even there the difference is minimal - so I'm back with my 9 year old trustee companion...
